We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Saga tour and were disappointed. The reception is apart from the rooms,
there is no proper bar area and anyone has access from the road to the lift to the rooms. The pool and pool area are both very small and are the most unappealing I have ever seen. The dinner and breakfast were both good and the staff were
very friendly. Our bedroom was very small with the bathroom separated by a sliding glass door.

The hotel is beautifully furnished and offers very comfortable, quiet rooms. I personally missed having a bath, but the parking, friendly staff and walking distance to the waterfront (literally 50 metres) were an absolute bonus. The pizza oven in the restaurant is a real eye catcher as is the furniture in the restaurant. Stunning

No room service available . Pool is tiny and hotel corridors are accessible to anyone . As the lift is outside the reception area. rooms are clean and have a fridge and hairdryer and sufficient plug points to charge devices etc .

Very disappointed for many reasons. Such a nice hotel with so many faults. So of our rooms plug points were faulty, the DStv would switch off due to a message saying their license has expired. We went to reception that same night to questions these things and her response is there’s nothing there can do now, the only thing she can do is right a note to maintenance. The answer to the DStv was to flip to a different source and back for it to reboot which both answers are ridiculous because we pay for the service to be 100%. Later around 3am we realise we have no power during loadshedding yet it’s advertised on their front page of their website they have generators and aren’t affected by loadshedding yet we were too tired from our long drive and left it. The next night, we decide to have a chilled night and have 1 drink at the hotels bar (a flying fish & brutal fruit) to get the bill and it’s R130 FOR TWO CIDERS!!! What a rip off? We physically asked the waiter and she said she has no clue and agreed to speak to management about the pricing because that is utter garbage!!! 1 flying fish and brutal fruit costs R65, where a 6 pack of flying fish and brutal costs R90 at checkers. At 2am we wake up to a hot room and noticed the power is off again during loadshedding. We go to reception to ask what is happening for them to response “we switch the generators off due to customer noise complaints, are you working atm? Would you like it on?” There is so much ridiculousness in this whole response which made me even more angry because not only do we not have electricity for the second time but because our room had no power, we couldn’t call reception so had to physically walk there. Besides that the response made no sense because we can already hear the generator is on, why would clients complain about the noise more than having electricity?, it doesn’t matter if we were working or not we chose this accommodation because it operates during loadshedding and the fact we had to physically ask for our room to have power will ever blow my mind. You know there will be guests in the room so as a business make sure to put our room on the generator! It understanding you are sharing the save money but out of courtesy for your guest you could remember to put our room on the generator. We had cake in the fridge that bought for our trip( it was for our birthdays) which went off due to the fridge going on and off because we realised the day loadshedding could have also happened because they didn’t put the generator on for our room so it went off which was, excuse my pun, the topping of the cake. More money wasted because the hotel services weren’t up for standard. I am so disappointed and so angry about my experience at this hotel. I regret my stay here completely and would not recommend to anyone nor come back.

We stayed for 4 nights at aha The Rex and found it to be a nice place in a great location just a short walk from the Knysna Waterfront complex with all its shops, restaurants and views over the harbour.
The rooms were nice & spacious with a comfy bed & all the usual amenities …. Bathroom was a nice size but the water pressure of the shower was disappointingly low. Free Wi-Fi was good and covered free parking available. The buffet breakfast was ok with the staff being very friendly & efficient.
All in all we enjoyed our stay here & particularly the great location

The hotel is a very modern, corporate style hotel in a good location within walking distance of the waterfront and into town. The rooms are functional, clean and have all the facilities you would expect. They have a generator which with the current load shedding in South Africa is a must have. Only criticism is that the hotel's restaurant was closed during our stay - it served breakfast but no other meals. This wouldn't have been a downside if there was a lot of other choice of restaurants but our stay included a Monday night when a lot of restaurants were closed or fully booked so we struggled to find somewhere to eat and it would have been a lot easier to have been able to eat in the hotel. I'm not sure if this was a temporary problem but we certainly weren't made aware of it by Trail Finders who booked the hotel.

It is a decent hotel in a decent location. I would say more a 3.5 star than a 4. The room we had 424, was very small with a long odd shape bathroom very close to the bed. The door on the bathroom had to be carefully slid closed, or it just opened. Silly little thing buy no face cloths and only one hand towel. There were cracks across the wall of the shower that were quite prominent.

Air con quite loud due to the small room. Complementary water and tea and coffee, etc.

Breakfast was very good, an excellent range of fruits and hot options including an egg station.

The pool is not a swimming pool unless you are a duck. A paddle perhaps.

OK for 1 night but I was glad.not longer.

I love staying here. Rooms are clean and spacious for short stays. I have stayed there multiple times and it has always been good. Close to Knysna Harbour and restaurants. Food at Breakfast is excellent - Of High Standard.
*Staff during breakfast can perhaps just check more on visitors to offer coffee/hot drinks.*

We had a lovely stay at The Rex Hotel. The room was clean, modern and have everything we need. The room looked over at the swimming pool and it was a little noisy at night when some of the visitors party there. The staff were friendly and the breakfast wonderful.

We stayed there for two nights, our plugs were surging in our room and TV wasn't working. The receptionist said there's nothing she could do at the time but she will let the maintenance guy know and he can have a look the next day. No one came so we had the same problem for the second night. We were charged a ridiculous price for two drinks that was absolutely shocking. One of the main reasons we stayed at the rex was because they had generators, however, loadshedding hit and we had to go down to reception to find out what the problem was for the gentleman to ask if we were working because the guests complain about the noise but we could hear the generator was already running. The staff weren't very friendly or helpful. I wouldn't recommend this place for couples. It felt more like a place for business trips. The only nice thing is the location.
