Detailed Reviews
Very nice and quiet lodge with good breakfast. We were upgraded to the two bedroom and kitchen with a good sitting area and veranda, cottage by the pool. We were two couples so suited us fine.
The owner/manager was very helpful with tips for restaurants, shopping and places to see. He also booked us to the Featherbed reservation where you can see the Indian Ocean and take a fantastic walk by the cliffs etc. also included in the package was the boat trip and a fantastic lunch bufé.
We had our own car that is handy as the lodge is a bit of a walk from town but taxi ix cheap and the help you with booking etc.
A nice and quiet area of Knysna.

Thank you for the review fam_Huizenga. We trust the rest of you trip was as spectacular as Knysna. It was such a pleasure to have met the Family.

We had a great time by Stannars . Very kind and personal service and care, even ironing assistance. Peaceful location and high security level. We really felt as being home by you. Flexibility was fantastic by my booking error. in dates.

The guesthouse is located driving distans from Knysna. In Knysna there is many things to explore. I recommend the view from "The Head" from there you can see Knysna estuary and the ocean. The hard trekking at Robberg, but don't forget good walking shoes and water. For the evening restaurant visiting we had to call for a driver (the owner of the guesthouse helped us) I think it was an expensive tour, but we had no chose. The last night the driver was for sure drunk, even he denied it.
We stayed at a smal cottage in the garden. The cleaning was bad, the towels were too old for it's name of an towel. We changes them and got another one they were a little bit better. We bought the breakfast, for €12, it was a shame! The coffee was like water, not much of chose for cheese and other toppings, no egg and bacon and the fruit sallad tasted old.
The best thing of the guesthouse was the pool area.

We stayed 3 nights, the room was unfortunately very small and dark, but what has bothered us was the lack of hospitality. The manager did not imagine and unfortunately French guests were showered with attention. We were not asked how we were still if everything is ok. Thus a cold atmosphaere I can not do on holiday originated.
No recommendation from us, we have not felt welcome, sorry.

We stayed in April 2010 for three nights at Stannards Guest Lodge and had a great time. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and Helene and Patrick.
The lodge is a lovely decorated house, in nice surroundings, so idyllic. We stayed in the ‘fleur’ room and loved the color scheme and pretty bathroom. In a bright and sunny room overlooking the garden and trees, we had the delicious Breakfast.
The commitment to our environment was also very appreciated by us. Their use of biodegradable detergents for cleaning (etcetera), made for an even better stay. I wish more Lodges, B+B's, Hotels would have this policy.

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely guest house and wish we'd booked for longer. The garden and pool area were lovely, and the veranda was the perfect spot for star gazing. The little bar was so quaint and we enjoyed being able to sit out with a drink at the end of a busy day.Very helpful and friendly hosts too.

We stayed 2 nights earlier in september, and the room we we allocated was just off the car park with a view to a wall 1 meter away;
The room was extremely cold -- as was the reception from the owners when we asked for a heater. The furniture and equipement was very tired and close to dangerous, and the breakfast entirely unremarkable
In summary, a big disappointment

Our family stayed at Stannards for two nights and were a bit disappointed. We had been told that we should have a triple room with luxurious furnitures but we got a small double room with a bad small extra bed for our 15 year-old daughter and the room was not decorated luxurious, quite the opposite with rather simple and a bit shabby furnitures... Our previous stays in South Africa (three before this) had been excellent so this was a bit of a disappointment. The garden and pool though were quite okay and the owners (Patrik and Helen-Marie) were rather nice and helpful. The guest house is situated a bit outside Knysna but is not far from the beautiful East Head where we had a great lunch the first day. Patrik helped us to book a boat tour including an affordable lunch to Featherbed national reserve, which was very nice. The breakfast buffet was okay but a bit limited.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the self-catering garden cottage and enjoyed it very much. The owners, Helen&Patrick, are very very friendly, helpful with things to do and have quite a few very good restaurant recommendations.
The property is located in a nice, quiet area of Knysna. Only a short drive to the Heads and the Town Center. The cottage was clean, spacious and tastefully furnished. Delicious cheese selection was offered for breakfast. Very good place to relax!
