The service was great we arrived late. The host waited for us and made sure we were on our rooms before living. Breakfast was nice we had variety of options to choose from. Location is easy to find 1min from the main road.

Hotel was in a great location. The parking was secure. Our rooms were quiet and did not hear any other guests even thought there was a school rugby tour also staying. Some contents like crockery in the room need an updating, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money and good breakfasts served.

Disliked · Regrettably we had to cancel two nights “last minute” This was due to the level 9 storm raging through the Western Cape ,leaving many road closures. We were cycling and were unable to pass through the Prince Alfred pass. Understandably the Russel Hotel acted upon cancellation policies. We found that given the severity of the storm which was quite evident that the hotel could of at the very least given us one night back as a show of “good will”. Unfortunately they have lost our future business and recommendations.

• Terrible breakfast with limited options, no fruit, muesli, yogurt. The options included only bacon and egg or dry porridge with milk. It would have been better to go to Wimpy; • Walked up three flights of stairs carrying luggage with no help offered (there is no lift); • Bath literally had a rim of soap scum, basically filthy; • The fridge was unplugged and had a stinge of rotten meat, no one bothered to clean it; • No DSTV channels only Open View; • Rude and disrespectful receptionist; • No air-conditioning in the room; • Room opposite of an old age, no privacy at all; • Poor ventilation in room.

Very neat and clean and easy to found. Yard is secured and parking area was good in so much that you can see your car through the window. Room was also neat with white linen. Very quite i slept peacefully

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a smile, however when checking in we were told that our reservation can be seen on the extranet but not on the res system even though I chatted to the hotel after making the reservation. We were then taking to the room, which was not the room we booked or saw on Booking.com, we even checked the pics and the room was definitely different, but alas it was clean and liveable for the 2 nights stay,even though hubby and I slept in the single bed rooms as it felt weird that our 5 and 6 year old had to sleep at the main door of the room and be a little way away from us. Hot water in our room was also an issue but the staff was happy to sort that out. Breakfast was great, really really enjoyed it.

A low-cost hotel booked for 1 night to break a journey. It is not in the best area of town though we felt safe on our walk from the hotel to the Waterfront for dinner, and back afterwards. There was secure parking in a fenced and gated area around the hotel so our hire car was also safe. The rooms were large with all the usual facilities provided, including battery-powered lanterns for load shedding - there seemed to be no generator. Breakfast was OK - cereals, milk, tea and coffee laid out and the chef came with a menu for cooked breakfasts, mainly eggs and toast. The staff were friendly and helpful, advising us, inter alia, of the best restaurants to go to for dinner.

As a regular visitor to Knysna,this establishment has been NY preference as I can't fault it. Good value for money,it's spacious,clean,good breakfast. Only down side is that the pillows are too soft,but bearable.

we had a family holiday and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel staff made it feel like a 5 star hotel. rooms were just as we needed and the breakfast options were fantastic. it was a pleasing experience to be part of the multi cultural guests who came and went and we enjoyed our stay very much.
