I've had the good fortune to travel widely with my firm for over 20 years and I can honestly say this little piece of paradise is as good as you're going to find anywhere in the world. I genuinely think Kim Pienaar and her staff can compete on the global stage when it comes to location, decor, service, food and wine. Often as South Africans we feel we trail our European counterparts when it comes to service and hospitality but trust me on this, a stay at The Thatch House will change this perception. HIGHLY recommend this. Lets support local because this little gem is very well deserving.
What an experience we had at the Thatch House. The place in itself is beautiful, rooms spacious, the team always on point and ready to go the extra mile, the food delicious. This is really a special place to visit.
We originally booked for a 4 night stay and ended up spending 13 nights in this magnificent property. We traveled during a difficult period with lockdown levels changing and found The Thatch House to be high on protocols which made our stay relaxing. It’s an intimate property which is ideal for families as you feel completely safe. Their large grounds has rolling lawns to run and play on. They have a huge outdoor play area. We enjoyed playing tennis. The views are to die for and the sunsets from the jetty spectacular. You are surrounded by nature. The entire property has exquisite attention to detail. The suites and living area are decorated beautifully and are super stylish which each suit being different. I felt like I was in my holiday home it has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. I didn’t lock our door the entire stay. The staff and their warmth make nothing seem like too much trouble. All in all a stunning holiday and look forward to returning …
On arrival we were greeted with superb hospitality and impeccable service. This charming quaint surrounding was ideal for serene tranquility and relaxation. Management and staff underpinned this . Highly recommended.
Our family has just spent 6 nights at The Thatch House in Hermanus. This hidden gem on the banks of the lagoon, decorated by Le Grange is the most exquisite boutique hotel. Kim, Ruan Ivan and all the support staff are super friendly, polite and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms, all with magnificent views, are huge, beautifully decorated and comfortable with top of the range linen. Breakfast is a highlight set in different spaces of the house each morning. Despite its upmarket decor, the accommodation and property is very child friendly and family orientated with a fantastic wooden jungle gym, putting green and well maintained tennis court. They also offer water sports on the lagoon. We will be back!
