Detailed Reviews
Mosselberg on Grottobeach - perfect getaway. Each room has its own entrance lending its own privacy including the confidence of Social distancing. We stayed in the best room, the Southern Right room with luxurious amenities from the huge bathroom including walk in "his and hers" showers, to king sized bed, huge fireplace, and lounge area. Welcomed by Linda the Guesthouse manager who immediately makes you feel at home. Attention to detail from the courtyard entrance with pool, seamlessly connecting the outside to the inside, each area with its lounging and dining areas. The service from the staff especially Lucky was impeccable. The breakfast menu was interesting and the attention to detail in presentation was matched by the service and taste.

This is gem of a hotel with just 5 rooms but the minute you walk in you can feel yourself relaxing - what a treat ! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room by James. The room was immaculate with a lovely outlook towards the sea. Although we did not expect a sea view having booked the Fynbos Suite we had one. When we asked the manager (Wayne) about local restaurants as the hotel does not do evening meals he offered to go and collect food for us from a local restaurant that did takeaways. We reckon this is service above and beyond! This is a beautiful, very well run hotel with excellent staff and we highly recommend it.

Dear GUESTS Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay with us We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the lovely ocean view & breakfast we have to offer Your interest and concern are therefore extremely valuable to us as we rely on GUEST feedback to determine both the positive and negative aspects of our property and to improve wherever possible. The in-room massages are outsourced and we will certainly look into the prizes in our area, although we have compared the rates with similar properties in Cape Town and find her rates less than the Cape town rates We hope that you will be staying with us again soon. We should welcome another opportunity to have you as our GUESTS! Thank you Kind regards Linda

Mosselberg on Grotto Beach is perfectly situated with a tranquil and seamless flow from outdoors to indoors. The views are spectacular! The location is perfect for quiet time but just a few km's away from all of the fun activities the town of Hermanus has to offer from art shopping to mountain biking, beach walks to cocktail drinks. The service is outstanding and breakfast a fine-dining experience.

Mosselberg on Grotto Beach is probably my favorite place on earth. I love every single detail about the hotel. This was my second time visiting, this time with my boyfriend. It is small, but not too small, very familiar, extremely kind and attentive service, our room was huge and the views of the ocean are beyond beautiful. We have booked a private cooking in the evening and have been served a delicious 3 course vegan meal. Our waiter and cook have both been amazing, we cannot thank you enough. Hope to see you again very soon.

We had been looking on the bookings.com app for a few weeks as we couldn’t decide between Hermanus and Capetown as a location to celebrate our anniversary. We finally booked on Monday at Mosselberg and when it asked for any special requests we asked for a double bed rather than the two singles. I then got a reply from Mosselberg via bookings.com saying we had only booked for one person. This was weird as the search had always been for two people obviously. I spoke to Bookings.com and they said they would contact Mosselberg but Mosselberg insisted on adding an over 700 zar for me to share my husbands bed. Effectively they charger + 700 zar for breakfast in a country where that would buy dinner for two with wine. Why did “the management” do that? The answer is because they could as for us to cancel would have cost 50% of the room price. The end result is we forced to pay 4278 zar for a one night stay when everyone had to be out by 10.30 am latest. We would never have booked to stay there at that price because for just a little more we could have stayed the the Marine Hotel which is the best one in Hermanus.

Dear GUEST Thank you for taking the time to complete a GUEST review and to write down your additional comments after your recent stay at Mosselberg on Grotto Beach Your feedback is highly valued and will be used constructively to maintain and improve, where necessary, our standards of service and facilities. Regarding the rates dispute, it is common knowledge that we, like most other hospitality establishments have two rates per suite/ room, which is either a double occupancy rate or a single occupancy rate. We trust that this explains your question, and therefore we gave you the choice to either cancel this booking via the platform you made it on which we have no control of Kind regards Linda van Blommestein GENERAL MANAGER

Beautifully appointed, stylish boutique hotel within an easy strike of the beach. We could hear the sea from our bed.
Thoughtful details in the rooms such as fruit, Sherry and fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee. Very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.

One of the most outstanding hotels that I have ever stayed. Beautiful, architecturally designed building and pool area that take your breath away. The rooms are huge and so relaxing with large shutters and the most stunning views and attention to detail. Fantastic staff too. Basically a top notch place.

We enjoyed our stay so close to the beach! The room was comfortable and the breakfast perfect. Even when we asked earlier times. The new employee James made a huge impression on us with his kindness and eye for detail. He arranged early breakfast for us too. The managers not so much. Quite Distant and very uninterested. No offering to make dinner arrangements only when we specifically asked to do.
The building has wear and tear and what we can’t understand after years of loadshedding, no alternative measures has been taken. A nice Luxury place, but no solar or generator when all guesthouses we stayed in, had already good alternatives. Shower in pitch black darkness or taking contact lenses out with a flashlight is not comfortable and unnecessary. In the hot summer days the fan must be working during loadshedding. (We could not understand The absence of aircon as well) Breakfast was great and as said the location and views are really good. The bed needs a new matrass as it has been expired. We gave our feedback upon our departure too.

Mosselberg on Grotto - this was a lovely little boutique hotel in the most beautiful setting. It has a very strong management team who always present but never intrusive. Whenever we asked for advice they gladly helped and gave us some excellent recommendations for eating out and visiting a vineyard. The breakfast was superb and they had lovely touches about the place including leaving a nightcap in the room when doing the turn down. Hermanus is a lovely place that we would be very keen to explore further.

The Olive Deluxe Room has predominantly stunning mountain views, but it also has a small sea-facing balcony with partial sea-view. It's not marketed as a sea-view room, but you do get a sneak peak!
Dear Guest
Our best rooms for views is Sugarbird & Southern Right. The Fynbos Executive Suite is the only room downstairs overlooking our natural Fynbos Garden and a sea view.
This is still a lovely room, like all the others. If you can't upgrade you are a 5 min walk from a beautiful long white sandy beach and the sea view is basically available from all our balconies and decks. Whales you will see! Looking forward to welcome you as our Guests.
Take Care
Kind Regards
Linda
