Milkwood lodge is a lovely place to stay just outside of the centre of Hermanus. From the moment we arrived Linda was welcoming and friendly. We arrived at the same time as some issues in the town with taxi strikes and Linda tried really hard to find us somewhere to go for dinner, ringing round restaurants for us as most seemed to be closed on our first night! She booked a table for us on our second night there and thankfully we did find somewhere to go for our first night. The cottage we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable, with a lovely big bed in the main bedroom and even our own outside space. The main room had underfloor heating which was really welcome as the weather had turned a bit chilly. The shower in the bathroom was amazing, really good pressure and warm water - it was difficult to get out! There was a pool available but we didn't use it as it was just too cold. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice, from cereals and toast and pastry and they made some cooked items that we wanted. The location of the lodge is on the main road in and our of Hermanus and a short drive into the centre of town. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Linda made us feel completely at home from the moment we got there. Very helpful and accommodating. Had a few very interesting and informative chats. Came away feeling we'd known her for years. (All of which does not mean conversations are in any way forced upon you.) Spacious rooms with your own outside seating arrangement. Lovely pool. Breakfast left no wishes open.

Milkwood Lodge is a graceful classic lodge. It was a perfect stay. Wonderful breakfasts! The location is great as it is close to the beaches, and rooms are at the back of the property so no street noise at all.

The accomodation was very comfortable and spacious wth a lovely view of Fernkloof Nature Reserve. The location was good, near to the beach and a couple of miles from Hermanus Town Centre. The breakfast was very good.

We stayed at the Milkwood Lodge whilst in Hermanus. The main reason for the visit was to see the whales which visit Hermanus. Linda our host was very helpful and couldn't have done anymore for us. Nothing was to much trouble. We had adjoining rooms as our son uses a manual wheelchair. Although the rooms are not fully wheelchair accessible ie there are steps up to and from the bedrooms to the breakfast room. But for us it was no problem but for some it maybe an issue. Once in the rooms all facilities were fine. All this said we would certainly return if we return to Hermanus

This stay brought to a close our three week trip to South Africa and we couldn't have picked a better place to do so. Milkwood Lodge is easy to find and is a short walk to one of the best beaches in Hermanus although you need to drive to get to the centre of the town. We stayed in the cottage and the facilities were excellent including a washing machine which allowed us the luxury of a clean set of clothes to travel home in. Our host Linda couldn't have been more accommodating in helping us plan our time in Hermanus and with recommendations of restaurants which were all excellent. She was also very helpful in pre-visit correspondence. Her insight of Hermanus and South Africa in general was enlightening and I learned a lot from our chats during our stay. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. Highly recommended

We only stayed for one night but we were given a choice of rooms, a lovely breakfast and tips about the best places to eat and beach to visit. Our host went out of her way to give us advice about safety issues on our proposed route (tyre burning).

I spent two nights at Milkwood Lodge, very friendly service, helpful, nice breakfast, quiet only 5 mins to the beach however only three restaurants in walking area - others are in town which can be reached by car. No UBER service available in Hermanus. There is a nice walk along the coast but finishes some 1.5 km before town, from thereon you walk along the main road with much traffic at high season.

This is a very cozy guesthouse at the edge of the town, which means that the area is very quiet. However, the drive into Hermanus is short. Linda was very helpful in assisting us in our attempt to book a whale watching tour in the last minute. More importantly, this place served the best bacon we have had on our entire trip in South Africa.

We were warmly welcomed by Linda when we arrived. We were early and didnt really expect access to our accommodation and were happy just to leave our bags but Linda said it was ready for us to use and showed us round our very bright spacious cottage in the back garden with its own little self contained garden. It was extremely well appointed with just about everything you would need for a stay - particularly appreciated things like salt, pepper, teabags, coffee etc. Breakfast was lovely, particularly loved the pancakes with cinnamon! Linda was a font of useful information - she was happy to recommend taxi firms and restaurants and even organised a booking at one of the local restaurants for us. We walked the cliff path on one of the days we were there, about 5km or so and spotted whales on the way. What a beautiful place! I also befriended a couple of dassies known as rock rabbits on the beach one day while we were eating our picnic. They came so close that they were actually standing on my knee! I thought they were very cute but later Linda explained that they were pretty much full of diseases and also give a very nasty bite! What can I say? Wine had been consumed! ignorance is bliss....
