I spent one night here on a work trip and the only thing I'm sorry about is that it was just one night. I will definitely be back. The room came as a pleasant surprise. It is very spacious, with a basic kitchenette and a comfortable sitting area for watching TV. It is sparkling clean, with quality white cotton bed linen and a mosquito net. The location is perfect within easy walking distance to the 24 hour Engen shop and a few good restaurants and breakfast spots across the road. John is a wonderful host who responded to messages timeously, and understands hospitality. When I explained that I had a bakkie load of photography equipment with me, and no energy to schlepp it upstairs to my room, he generously offered the use of his personal garage. Thank you, John! Hospitality like this makes such a difference.

The log cabine is well equiped perced on the valley. Be aware that there is no electricity nor wifi and you need to lite a fire to get hot water for your shower. The cottage has all equipment needed to go through the amazing night experience including a propane fridge, Excellent service from the host and an amazing drive through the farm to see all the animals.

We stayed here for 8 nights during a big family celebration. We couldn't have chosen a better spot. Walked to 2 wine estate tasting rooms, a world class wine shop also walking distance. 3 restaurants that we could walk to and then direct access to Hemel en Aarde Valley and close to a large mall and Sandbaai and surrounding beaches. The apartment was homely and spacious and well equipped and nothing asked was too much trouble for John. Our laundery washed and ironed neatly and returned on time at a fraction of expected cost. We will most definitely be back for more. Thank John!!

We paid R5000 for one night for 4 rooms, the owner of the property knew it was a bday celebration. We were treated terribly and there was not enough cups or cutlery as well as no firewood for the middle of winter supplied. Would not recommend unless you are VERY old or a family with kids.

Unfortunately our self catering accommodation was used by self centered, juveniles as a party venue which we explained was not appropriate and we repeatedly had to ask to be quiet as they were disturbing our other guests. please dont come again until you have matured a bit. And kindly return the goods you removed from our units.

Our stay at Hornbill house were excellent. The hosts were very friendly and accommodative. We were literally on street at night and they were taking us in for the weekend without any hassles.

This place advertizes a 4* rating however it should be 2* at the best. We lived on a building site for 2 weeks without prior warning. We were demanded to pay for our stay on arrival! They forgot that we had already paid 6 month in advance and they cashed the interest!!! The braai and the stove were so rusted and derty that we did not dare to use either of them. Room cleaning took place once a week. Towels were promised to be changed every 3 day but were only changed after 1 week. If you can stay weay from this "guesthouse" The 4* rating is 10 years old and has probaly not been rerated since. The table on the stoep was so dirty the we could clean it!!! Hornbill House is a very good place to visit, close to the main road to Caledon and Hermanus CBD. The host was excellent, professional and gave us recommendations of what to do around the area. Highly recommended for anyone in need of tranquility.

We had a short but very enjoyable stay here. The host is super helpful and friendly. Loadshedding caused some issues with getting our car in the gates, but very kindly gave us the main entrance's key. Lovely apartment with everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding luxurious. Highly recommended

Check in was so easy. Very well equipped rooms, lovely, clean & comfortable. Wish we'd booked for another night. We all loved the African prints in our room. Would certainly recommend. Great micro brewery just up the road!!
