The Marine Hotel garners accolades for its spacious, clean rooms with tasteful decor and luxurious touches, set in a prime location with breathtaking bay views near Hermanus center. The immaculate cleanliness and stylish atmosphere of the hotel, complete with fresh flowers and well-appointed amenities, receive high marks from guests.
While the service is often described as outstanding and personalized, there are occasional reports of slow service and housekeeping issues. Though opinions on value vary, with some finding the hotel on the pricier side, the overall experience is seen as exceptional by many.

From our arrival at the gate and front desk check in, right up to checkout there was not one hitch. This establishment is run like a well oiled machine in tip top condition. Heidi welcomed us with a heated face towel and chilled rooibos drink, greeting us by our names (gate security called through our arrival to reception).
The room consists of a bedroom, separated by french doors which lead into a generous lounge area consisting of a couch, coffee table, entrance table, minibar unit and TV. From there you enter a well appointed and comfortable bathroom. Our room (number 203) had sea and mountain views. From the lounge there was a door that lead onto a private balcony. The beds were super comfortable and the linen crisp and clean. USB ports and power points are conveniently located next to the night side tables. Carpets are plush and spotless. Heavy curtains with sunblock made for a cosy bedroom at night, keeping out the early sunlight.
The hotel is located in a prime position right on the beautiful and rugged coastline of Hermanus. The cliff path is easily accessible and makes for wonderful walks with incredible vistas.
Breakfast is a la carte due to current Covid restrictions with good variety and delicious options. Both mornings I had the smashed avo and eggs, with a portion of salmon.
I have never encountered such friendly staff, from the gate security, check in staff, restaurant waiters, and the senior management who made a point of introducing themselves to us, making sure that everything is in order.
I went for a quick swim about at about 18:00 in the heated swimming pool. I was the only guest there. The lounger cushions were already removed for the day. When I got out of the pool one of the staff already put back a lounger cushion and extra towels, without me asking for them. That’s what I call service and attention to detail.
Special mention to Front Office manager Heidi, who welcomed us and answered endless questions, and who was kind enough to show us their top suites. She also made very good recommendations on where to eat, and managed to get us a reservation at Creation Wine Estate. No request was any trouble to her at all. Throughout our stay she made sure we were well taken care off.
Also thanks to Taahir and Michelle for making us feel welcome, and researching the history of the local airfield, which we found printed out, inside an envelope and left in our room after coming back from the morning walk.
The Marine is an outstanding establishment, and we looking forward to stay again at this stately and gracias hotel.

We were treated with such great care at the Marine Hotel this weekend. We welcomed in such a beautiful way with welcome drinks and moist towels. Great attention to detail is taken in the room from a personalized hand written welcome note from the GM to a personalized welcome letter and treats for the kids. The hotel is situated right on the beach and we could whale watch without leaving our room. We walked to the shops and a really interesting market nearby. The hotel has good security and the whole of Hermanus is safe. There is direct access to the beach from the hotel. The food was incredible and the spa is amazing. I love this hotel and we will definitely be back many times over.
The manger Tahier went out of his way to make our stay wonderful. The owner of the spa Serene is so professional and amazing.
This hotel is makes you forget that we living through a pandemic as they sanitize everything and make everything so beautiful and pleasant.
THANK YOU!

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent 5 night stay here. The room was very nicely furnished and a good size. The hotel amenities were very well maintained and as well as enjoying time by the pool we also enjoyed some pleasant cliff top walks and a visit out to the Saturday market near the cricket club. We couldn’t really sample much food as the Marine breakfasts were so good! Service all round was friendly and efficient and the hotel was managed superbly by Melissa Burns who took a lot of time to mingle with the guests, assessing how well the hotel was looking after guests. Well done the Marine Hotel.

We spent three nights at The Marine in mid December 2020. Rooms are spacious and clean and has a high attention to detail and an elegant touch albeit ever so slightly dated. The service from staff at all touch points more than makes up for any small shortcomings. Staff that stood out as service champions were Leonard the porter, the security guards and the lovely ladies and gents at reception and at mealtimes. Our stay included an excellent breakfast and nothing seemed to be too much to ask at this beautiful family friendly hotel. Excellent location within walking distance to the main Hermanus attractions and lots to do for kids with special surprise welcome gifts waiting for the little ones on arrival and a well crafted kids menu at every meal.
Room service offered a good but limited menu but slow delivery time with a 45 minute wait for a toasted sandwich. Cannot fault anything else and we cannot wait to return! Exquisite views for days and we spent many a morning and evening happily watching the dassies on the front lawn from the patio.

Myself and my wife came to stay for a one night stay and what an incredible experience, we were welcomed with warm friendly faces, professional and genuine, The hotel is elegant, in a stunning location with beautiful views. The Suite is wow wow wow! Extra touches in the room that stands out & unique. We had dinner in the Origin & the service was excellent and the dishes very tasty with high quality.
All the staff treated us like Vip Guests and the concierge even washed our car on the day of departure, I was super impressed with this!
We recommend this Hotel to anyone to come and stay, you will not be disappointed!
a Big Thank you to Melissa and the dedicated Team who looked after us.

We stayed for one night at this beautiful hotel and we love it. The design is cozy and the staff is friendly. Especially the Spa Team is great and you really should book a massage during your stay. Only the service at the bar should be improved, we have been sitting there for 20 minutes without being served. And for this room price, the water for breakfast should be for free not extra charged as the coffees, juices and sparkling wine is for free too.

This hotel is very clean, comfortable, well positioned and the friendly staff are always visible and helpful. They even washed my car before we checked out.
Management do care here about their customers and your experience with them. Nice touch is the complimentary minibar. We will be definitely be back soon!
The only negative, is the shop bought bread served at their breakfast. No hotel or restaurant should ever use bread from the commercial suppliers.

Stunning location & well positioned within Hermanus, this traditional hotel provides the ideal place to stay for a few days R&R away from the hustle & bustle of Cape Town. Room with sea view & balcony a must. Great service in the bar - well worth a visit! Will definitely return.

Elegant looking period hotel in perfect cliff top location. Access to car park managed very well with staff on hand to direct and assist with luggage.
Quickly checked in and taken to our standard double room which was delightful. Breakfast was superb but there again most are in South Africa and dinner didn't disappoint, service all the time was exemplary and super friendly.
Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed a lovely cliff top walk which was well used and felt perfectly safe, Hermanus itself is a lovely town with plenty of places to eat.
The only down side is that we didn't spot any wales but we were perhaps a little late in the season, that said we thought Hermanus was great and a perfect stop from Cape Town towards the garden route.

My husband and I spent three blissful nights at The Marine Hermanus. What a fabulous hotel and staff! Our original room was lovely, but when our safe didn't work, Patrick volunteered an upgrade to a spacious suite. That's the kind of customer service that sets a hotel apart. The rooms are well-equipped, the bedding divine. We could watch whales from our balcony at any time of the day. We dined twice in the restaurant and found the food to be excellent and the atmosphere and views are great. The common rooms and bar sport gorgeous views as well. Decor is tasteful and elegant. Staff at every level were welcoming and attentive. (Our car was washed multiple time throughout our stay, even multiple times per day when it rained!) Security was excellent as was access to Hermanus' famous cliff walk. It's an easy stroll to the center of charming Hermanus and its many restaurants, so close yet at the end of the main bayfront road so perfectly quiet. Out of the 15 nights we spent in the Western Cape, The Marine made our stay in Hermanus our favorite. We highly recommend it and hope to return.

Sorry, missed seeing your question.
Maintenance of hotel seems good, but feel that under the surface there are likely to be more issues (we had a curtain rail fall down in our room twice).
Symptomatic of hotel that really needs significant refurbishment, but is otherwise in a fantastic location and has the right intentions! Thanks
The Marine Hermanus can do anything/everything - what it would cost is a different question!! Have a great trip and enjoy...
I am not sure Hotel seems to Apply to a bit older generation
Pool is small. Doubt they heat it
