Stayed at this place for two nights during my south Africa visit, sweet lovely place close to the hermanus city centre and the coast beach. The self catering cottages has absolutely everything thats required, only drawback is the entry to the hotel, limited space for parking if you are driving a self driven car. Overall great experience. Highly recommended for stat if you visiting hermanus, South Africa 🇿🇦. Cheers 🍻

Very hot amd, small fan wasn't really effcient. TV didn't always work. Forteuntly the warm welcome and friendly staff made our stay more pleasant. Parking bays should be marked as one guest decided to use tow parkings for one vehicle and we had to park down the road and the area wasn't that save.

The room was clean and comfortable. And close to the town and water. The only thing that was unpleasant was the host who greeted us and was there over the weekend. She was drunk and reeked of alcohol when we arrived and over the weekend. This was very disappointing.

Having paid the deposit we received no confirmation of our booking. Emailed x2 with no response. Eventually called to confirm all in order. On arrival at 6.30pm we were advised that there were workman on site but that they were just cooking and would then be leaving. Turns out they were actually staying in the room next to us. Asked for a queen and a twin - ended up with 2 queens. No soap, shampoo or tea on offer. Toilet roll was in a cupboard (hadn't been put out). Towels were fluffy, bathmat and hand towel sad thin scraps. Bed was comfortable but there was no fan or aircon in 1 room. Room appeared clean. Shower floor was horrible. Concrete finish on the walls makes it look worn and tired. Not keen on a communal kitchen. Parking is an issue. The pavement has been "broken" to allow access onto a parking area which was full so we ended up on the street. No staff on site in the evening or in the morning. Was woken by the workmen getting ready for their day at 6am. Just got the feeling that this was "on the wrong side of the street". This is NOT a B & B. Would not recommend and won't stay there again. Not good value for money considering how little was offered.

No fan or aircon; No glass in the room;Coffee machine - not working;Electricity went off at 22:00 - with nobody on site to assist. Had to phone owner / manager to come out. Took them over an hour to come out.Staff members slept in the room down the hall. Don't think staff should be crammed into a small room. Give them proper accommodation!

Was so looking forward to night in Hermanus around a cricket weekend. Paid the deposit and 3 emails later still hadn’t received any confirmation. On arrival in the evening we were advised that there were workman on site but it was their last night and they were busy cooking and would then be leaving. Turns out they were actually staying in the room next to us. Asked for a queen and a twin and ended up with 2 queens. No soap, shampoo or tea on offer. Toilet roll was in a cupboard. Towels were fluffy, bath mat and hand towel horribly thin. Bed was comfortable. No fan or Aircon. Shower floor horrible. The concrete finish in the bathroom makes it look worn and shabby. Not keen on a communal kitchen. Limited parking so we ended up on the street. No staff on site in the evening. Woke up to the sounds of workmen at 6. Wouldn’t stay there again.

We are from Pretoria and enjoy going to Hermanus during the October school holidays. At first we went to Gansbay where we've seen many whales. Thereafter we went to Hermanus. Whale coast Lodge is very close to all the amenities. The only problem was the cleanliness of the cottage. The kitchen. Cutlery not washed properly. The silver oven pan was very sticky and I had to take it back to the cleaners. Also the cupboard between the sink and oven were very dirty on the side. The walls in the bathroom is going to need maintenance soon. When we went out to the beach one day the cleaners came to fetch the towels and bathroom mats but didn't replace it. Upon my return the guy at reception was very helpfull and gave me clean dry towels. I've liked the old house and the safe parking. Enjoyed sitting under the trees in the garden.

We went on a road trip that started in Oudtshoorn, Witsand, Agulhas, Gansbaai and finally Hermanus. Whale coast lodge exceeded all our expectations. The hostess, Marlise, went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She was available to assist with enquiries regarding restaurants etc. Beautiful spacious accommodation with everything that you might need. I'll never stay at a different establishment in that area ever again.

We enjoyed the spacious rooms and possibility to use the main kitchen facilities. Some cutlery for use was lacking e.g. desert spoons. Staff friendly and helpful. Near to the main shopping area. Good advice re suitable place to eat and watch for whales.
