This hotel was recommended to me by a couple of people who had stayed here previously. The hotel is one of the few open during Level 3 for business accommodation. The room was fine and I was happy with it, but found the service disappointing. When I made the reservation I was told the rate included breakfast, however when I ordered breakfast, was told that it was not included and was extra. Upon returning in the evening, the room was NOT made up / serviced, and when I alerted reception, was told that they would let the manager know. When I followed up the next morning, I was advised that the rooms are only serviced every 2nd day. Generally happy with the hotel, but feel that the service was poor and communication poor. No apology or follow up, so disappointing! Walls also 'thin' - I could hear the person in the next room talk and snore.

My accommodation was initially booked for a "boutique hotel" in Knysna with no towls, fridge, tea/coffee, carpets etc. Forced to leave at 15:30 on a Sunday I urgently needed an alternative and ended up at Oakhurst. This is a beautiful house with welcoming staff. I was exhausted and used the on site restaurant which was slightly expensive but I was happy to pay if it meant I could stay in. I would stop in again for a night when passing through. Wifi was at times a bit slow and I only had SABC channels on the tv but I'm not sure what was advertised so perhaps this is correct.

Not the level of boutique hotel that I am used to. The price does not reflect the standard of this hotel which is a shame as it has great potential.Its the little details that can make or break your experience in a hotel. Some staff were professional and friendly but one staff member was rude and tried to overcharge me when I was leaving. I had booked through Booking.com and had paid for two people sharing a family room. The staff member tried to argue with me saying I only paid for one person when I showed her my email proof from Booking.com. She then changed her attitude. The price paid for what we received was very high, bearing in mind that the hotel is not on the best location. Later in the trip we stayed in Mossel Bay in a hotel on the beach at a great location and it was much cheaper and a better experience with professional friendly staff.

The aircorn didnt work at first, then we were moved to a different room, there wasn't even a plug 😑 😒 🙄 we were moved back to the first room where we were booked in and the aircorn was working with a different remote. The personnel were not very helpful. We were asking for beef sausages and we got pork instead we do not eat pork, so our breakfast was a mess. When my coffee arrived it was super cold also. The place do not make provision for load shedding so there was not even one light on when we got up in the morning.

Oakhurst is a very nice place. Location in George is perfect... you can move in more that one direction. Please place is clean, the property is clean and very tranquil. I would not mind going again if I can get a booking. In my experience the reception could have handled my problem better. Regards

The check-in process was quite easy. I found the hotel, to my surprise not up to 4 star standards. Old keys to the room doors. There was a curtain in front of the cupboard, no doors which was really strange. At the time we visited some major pipe work in the George CBD rendered the area without water for the duration of our stay. We were never informed of this and believe that the hotel did not manage their risks sufficiently well. We could not shower the following morning and depended on 2 bottles of water to prepare ourselves for the day. This is not good enough and I dont believe I will use this hotel in the future.

The staff were professional. The hotel clean.It is a good location. If you are overnighting fir business it is ideal. Although I would have appreciated a bit more variety with regards to TV channels, the full farmhouse breakfast is what I will come back for.

The service at reception was exceptional, Clarissa went out of her way to accommodate us and find a suitable room for 5 nights within a time frame of 30 minutes. The room was spacious, the breakfast was very good, and at night the food was great. You cannot go wrong if you stay at the Oakhurst Hotel.

As all of the previous reviews, really, really stay away from this hotel. I completely agree with the previous reviewer who stated that it is advertised as 4 star but is rather a 1 star. Everything is broken or in shabby condition, extremely dirty. We had spiders and some sort of black residue between our sheets, door to outside rotten. Swimming pool drained (seems like quite a while ago) and in horrid conditions. Windows prob not been washed for months. When returning to hotel one afternoon 14:00 the door was locked, after a while the receptionist and a guy who might be the cook, came out of a back office to unlock door. Breakfast staff was good and breakfast also good. I would really question when last their 4 star rating was checked.
