We stayed overnight on the 14th of August in a family cottage and enjoyed a restful nights sleep. Earlier we had fellowship with other guests in the lounge with delicious soup and fresh bread which was supplied at no charge. For weary travellers this was a highlight as well as hearing the journey of the other guests.

Michelle and her family were so helpful, and as we were leaving early the next day they prepared a take away breakfast including a yummy breakfast bar fruit juice and yoghurt with eggs and sandwiches.

I shared how we had stayed at Carmel every year with our children from 1989 to 1996 and the campsite had not changed nor the homestead and views. Hospitality was wonderful as well.

We would sincerely recommend this as a place of refreshment and recovery from the stress of daily life. Margie Upsher

Stunning view of Victoria bay. Nice breakfast. Slow down and enjoy. This is a place that will suite your budget. Between the Outeniqua mountains and the sea. One of the best place to relax with a nice book.

I stayed at Carmel many times through my life...such a delight. The view from the lounge windows of the coast is outstanding. Excellent food and the Christian meeting time in the lounge after dinner is what makes Carmel special...

We arrived exhausted after long car trip from Cape Town looking forward to lovely hot shower or bath. Water was ice cold. Management said rugby team just left and all the water is heated by a heat pump which isn't effective if no sun. So that was that, no apologies forthcoming. The accommodation is very basic, not at all inviting for a family of 6. No lounge just 4 beds in one room & one small bedroom with 2 single beds. Bathroom small, bath with overhead shower, basin loo. Felt like we were camping. Not very clean either. Definitely not a pleasant experience.

It was not cheap. It felt like a cheap back packers room. And I've stayed in better back packer places... we spent 2 weeks in 7 different accommodations for a road trip. Carmel was the priciest and the worst. Yes they have beautiful gardens when you walk around, but that's it.

Carmel is one of our favourite places! The accommodation & surroundings just burst with love and peace. It makes such a change to go into the dining room and sit with other guests who become friends. The food is delicious and more than adequate considering the reasonable rates. We can't wait to spend another family holiday there.

We recently enjoyed a group outing with my learners from work. We had so much fun in the pool and enjoyed a lovely braai in the braai area. The learners played games on the grass and made beautiful memories

Beware! The first room I got had a toilet and bathroom 40m away. The room was primitive to say the least . I upgraded!!!! This time the bathroom was shared by only 4 rooms instead of 12.
I fluorescent light in the ceiling. No bedside tables. Tired linen. Getting a refund in the morning and ducking. Even a second class hotel in BANGLADESH is better than this. Shame on you!!!!! Your pictures and website are misleading. This makes a bush camp look luxurious

Dear Mr Aspeling Thank you very much for your feedback regarding our rooms with shared bathrooms. At Carmel, we cater to a wide range of budgets and our Garden Rooms with Shared Bathrooms are better suited to those who opt for backpacker style accommodation. As you know, our General Manager did upgrade you a second time to the Sunset House, with two en suite bathrooms, and we hope that to some extent, this alleviated your distress.

We were 10 people and had booked a family room and 2 double rooms. Only 1 of the 4 rooms was a bit more modern with a modern, comfortable box bed. All other rooms were very average with some of them having old fashioned furniture/decor. Rooms werespacious and the ones facing the valley, with a lovely view from the balcony. Carpets were a bit old and tatty. Bathrooms quite mouldy and dated but clean. Breakfast was good with a nice choice of hot and cold items. Beautiful gardens and grounds. Lots of secure parking. Wifi was good. Enough parking close to each room. All considered, it was expensive for the quality of rooms offered.

Breakfast was included in our booking but not dinner. We left early and they prepared us sandwiches, eggs, juice and breakfast bars which were just what we asked for. They had lovely Veggie Soup and Fresh Bread and butter free for anyone there at 6pm with fellowship. The local takeaways are about 5km away off the motorway. As this is a Christian Retreat Centre there are no TV's in the rooms and our one was comfy with tea and coffee in the room. Lovely views over the ocean.
Hi there, We have two Seaview Double Rooms available from the 21st to the 26th of December 2018. We unfortunately do not have a Family Room available from the 21st of December to the 2nd of January. Kind regards The Carmel Team
