My wife and I stayed at Fancourt from 17-22 December 2024.
The good: Our room was spacious and luxurious and we slept well. The staff were so friendly and helpful that they can really be commended.
We enjoyed the buffet every morning, everything was fresh and the eggs Benedict was our favourite.
La Cantina serves very good food and although pricey, our meals were exceptional.
My wife rated the spa 10/10 and said she would gladly return.
The hotel is a mere 6 km from George Airport making travel a brease.
Room for improvement: It is a 5 star hotel and one would expect a certain level of comfort that sadly was sometimes lacking. Although it is a golfer's stay, the rooms take far too long to be cleaned/refreshed and I would strongly advise that more staff be employed in room cleaning. Specifically, our room was only attended to after 14:00 on more than one occasion when one would like to return to your room to relax or nap before the evening.
Secondly, there is no dedicated walkway for guests, and the paved area is busy with golf carts and the vehicles of guests. One therefore has to keep your wits about you when walking between your vehicle and the room or from the room to the restaurants.
Save for these two issues we would gladly return to Fancourt.

We stayed there as a family in the month of August under a group accommodation
Facilities The hotel is well situated in George and quite a nice golf scenic location. Slightly remote from the town. The land is very large and beautifully greenish. You have a great sunset there, try not to miss it! We also have lots of premium residential areas which are easily accessible by foot or even by bike. Due to its large land size, you easily can do morning jog as well. You do feel you have escape from the everyday mundane life. And if you are golf lovers, you can feel right at home there to spend the day on the green. It has a large gym and kids section. Your kids will love it with a large playground and kids club as well as a swimming pool.
Service The service is top notch Most of the waiter, reception, kids club staff and buggy attendant are very courteous and helpful. The food as well is great there. It has an open air restaurant which also connect on the inside.
It has a second restaurant named La cantina as well but this also connects to the main restaurant/big dining room
Room. We got a nice big family room, with chimney, private living room and bathroom. It was great! Nice decor/design. The room was very well cleaned daily. The bed was very comfortable. We had two TV - one in the bedroom and one in the living room The fireplace also was great as well.

This is the best run hotel experience in the Cape. Arrival at the porters desk to check in, all the staff are friendly and informative (also happy to share more when asked about the whole establishment showing great mentoring and training) The entire estate is pristine, and whether you are playing golf, or just booked in for this 5 star experience you will not be disappointed. The breakfasts are sumptuous and delicious, and we ate in the Italian restaurant, and the menu offers a wide range of choices, and is well catered and served. Many thanks for a fabulous 2 night stay

We were travelling the Garden Route and we had booked to stay at the Fancourt in George for two nights, golf was exceptional on the Links course, caddy was great fun. We had a lovely welcome by the receptionist. The room (530) was spacious and clean, and looked out over a garden. Unfortunately, our bathroom towels smelled of smoke so we got these changed. On arrival, the indoor pool was full of children diving in/not supervised by any adult despite hotel rules, and this was not enforced by staff. My wife said the ladies changing area had towels on the floor on entry and the ladies sauna was full of peoples bathing suits drying! The outdoor pool area was pleasant and there was a warm water area, however again, children not supervised / staff not enforcing rules (nor picking up any litter on the floor around the pool area). I was locked out of the leisure centre locker for 25 minutes on the first day. We ate in the club lounge. My food came out 20 mins after my family was served, so we couldn't eat together; we were recommended a slice of cheesecake however this tasted sour/gone off. We complained and the Manager said that was the last slice, he had tried a fresh one and that tasted ok. They did reduce the bill a little. There very was loud music playing (DJ/ base beat sounds) from about 10pm on our first night. We complained at 10pm, and again at 10.30pm. The bass so loud it caused vibrations. The hotel eventually said they couldn't do anything about it as it off site (Wednesday night). Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep. The adult spa area: my wife was very disappointed as the steam room was cold and sauna warm (not hot). Both ladies toilets were deficated and unusable. My wife was tired/upset and sick of complaining, and then she also got locked out of her locker. My son was glad to leave the children's club after 3 hours and didn't want to return. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, though I had to ask for a cup of tea three times and when it arrived it didn't have milk. We were all really looking forward to this part of the stay for some relaxation and it was disappointing (save for the golf!) It felt like most of the staff just had their hands out waiting for a tip; I was waiting for some good service! 5 stars for golf and 1 star for the rest.

I was not happy with the allocated room, differed from pictures I saw in your website & booking.com. The rooms I saw over looked the golf course & not other rooms. I chose the suite room due to staying for a week & we needed the space to go out doors conveniently. Also the bathroom was completely different from the room allocated to me, my bath tub was terribly stained, so we did not use it at all & the toilet had a constant leak 24/7. The facial mirror was broken, this got attended to on day 2 or 3. The food at La Cantina is amazing, we enjoyed a few dinners here & breakfast. Unfortunately the one room service lunch that I had was a disappointment, the fish was oily & lacked taste. Your staff are absolutely amazing from check in to check out, shout out to the amazing team at porter service, always friendly & efficient.

Incredible. Just the most amazing service experience we’ve ever had
From the very beginning when your car is unloaded / valet parked and luggage whisked away to the very end, nothing is too much trouble
Greeted by Asanda of Guest Relations with cold fizz and upgraded to a suite, we were checked in and driven to our lovely room over looking the first tee of Montagu
We had two days golf. Both courses are excellent. Buggies and clubs were ready and caddy Dino was very helpful
We ate at Henry Whites, La Cantina and Clubroom Grill. All offered different culinary experiences and were very good
Breakfast is a sumptuous spread and service is great
Add in a lovely big clean pool and this has everything you need
Standards of cleanliness are top class
Not cheap but definitely value for money. Highly recommended - a special thank you to Asanda - surely the next hotel manager in the making. A great ambassador for the Fancourt brand

It’s a long journey requiring connecting flights at J’burg or Cape Town. Flew in B A were delayed and missed our connecting flight (apparently not uncommon) so had to buy new tickets. So allow a good period of time between landing immigration and collecting bags - we had to wait around 5 hours for the flight to George having missed our connecting flight
Weather in George can be changeable even in summer (see later) the local joke is car registrations start CAW = cold and wet , we had rain on at least 1 day unfortunately the day I played the Links course
Gardens and surroundings at Fancourt are beautiful the golf courses are astounding and play beautifully. I played all three. The Links is very expensive and exclusive so if you get the chance you will play it. Unfortunately it rained solidly when I played it. It’s summer in SA so no water proofs they lent me an umbrella. Managed to play 14 holes until it got to cold and wet and greens AND fairways were flooding. Disappointed that no one offered us a warm drink or towels or anything in the club house when we got in. As we abandoned no recourse our choice.
Very popular with SA families so dependant on time of year there may be kids and only 1 swimming pool. You would expect two pools minimum and 1 adults only. Expect children on bikes and scooters and little supervision
Food is OK but a bit limited and drinks menus is not resort wide. My wife likes Monkey 47 gin available in Monets but no where else!
Sounding like a terrible experience but it wasn’t the golf and surroundings were amazing + have a caddie if you play they are around 400 zar + your tip around 200 zar so not expensive and you make a difference. And so do they to your game
Would I go again probably yes due to the golf courses
Probably 3 1/2 - 4 stars but it could easily be 5 with a bit of thought/training and investment

rooms spacious but overpriced. Beds very used could do with replacement, one side a lot lower thus make sleeping for 2 people uncomfortable. Shower screens should be replaced, old and hard to close or open.

Fancourt was recommended to us and booked by Angelfish Travel based in Cranbrook in Kent , a travel agency specialising in a high service level so we knew this would be an amazing place. We were not disappointed. Everything was perfect from the porter service on arrival to the moment we left. The golf was outstanding - courses perfectly manicured against a mountain backdrop , challenging and exciting. Our classic room was a bedroom and sitting room, spacious , well furnished and extremely comfortable The resort is set in lush gardens with wonderful facilities, pools, spa, tennis and an excellent practice and warm up area for golf. The best thing of all were the staff. Delightful , polite and genuinely pleased to help. Singing happy birthday to a guest was a joy to behold.

The annual golf trip to Fancourt is always an event I look forward to and never disappoints. The golf courses are so well laid out and manicured, they are like playing at a major championship. The resort's food and beverage and accommodation offerings are special and the staff are very attentive to our every need.
