Magnificent view from the top of the mountain. Beautiful sturdy well built log cabins built into the side of the mountain. Sadly the upkeep is lacking terribly. Maintenance seems very poor with very little investment. Staff are wonderful and professional but obviously have little or no funds for the upkerp

We stayed there as part of a group. Accomodation is hardly acceptable , broken window frames , verandas not cleaned and management complaining to guests about the owners attitude . What got to me is that they demand a deposit for keys and possible damages . All good and well , but then need to phone to collect the money , only to be told they are still cleaning the houses . Money to be repaid when they have to opportunity to go to town .

Positives:
1. The secluded mountain cabins and breautiful views of nature was amazing.
Negatives:
1. Extremely dirty carpets
2. Dirty kitchen (dead bugs in the kitchen cabinets and food stains on the counter)
3. Leak in the bathroom and no bath for small kids (although I specified we'd be bringing a 2 year old)
4. Bin in the kitchen had no lid and there we had to ask someone where we could place the black bags to be removed and for a replacement black bag.
5. Management continuously bad mouthed the owner
6. Website clearly indicates no cash to be given so we paid via EFT and balance via credit card on arrival. After payment was made we were asked for a R200 key deposit which would be refunded within 2 weeks of vacating the premises. 6 weeks later I'm still in heated debate with management to have the key deposit refunded. I apparently need to wait until the manager (Marty) had time to go to the bank to deposit my key deposit and on top of that I'm expected to carry the cash deposit fee on this transaction!
7. Management (Marty) came onto our private balcony via a locked door while we were on the premises to remove some deck furntire we had - as she described to the new arrivals - taken from their cabin. Fact is, this was on our deck when we arrived - leading me to question their preparation of the venue for new arrivals.

I definitely won't go there again with all the other great properties in the vicinity.

I have never had to request a manager/owner to propose another place to stay as soon as I arrived at a very hostile reception. Our family booked just about the entire lodge for a wedding that took place at a venue nearby. Nearly all the guests complained about the reception they received and the experience became the joke of the weekend. All indicated that they would never return. The setting is beautiful and has lots of potential but the management and the maintenance of the resort needs serious attention.

This resort could be wonderful. The setting is lovely with beautiful self catering wooden cabins set in a mountain valley with tall trees, natural vegetation and lots of birdlife and there is an outdoor swimming pool. However it is poorly managed and the chalets are in need of an upgrade. The manager gives the impression that the guests are an interruption to her life and merely an inconvenience. She charged guests for extra rolls of toilet paper "because this is a self catering resort"! The party we were with had booked out the entire resort for a weekend, and paid deposits upfront, yet the management was unaccommodating and more concerned about the guests making a noise and disturbing her than making sure everyone had an enjoyable stay. Such a pity.

Have read the offorementioned reviews with interest , and cannot agree . Our chalet was very clean with an indoor fireplace and outside braai . The location in the pine trees and the view is outstanding . We found the management friendly and helpful . The fee / rate for the unit was by far the cheapest in the area , which came as a pleasant surprise . We will definitely be back.

Highly overrated, as you get the minimum for such an expensive rate. No tv, thin towels, no coffee or tea and unfriendly- unwelcoming hosts you can expect. You just get bombarded with rules. Its beautiful in the mountains, very cold at night and can be unpleasant if looking for summer weather.

This is a self catering log cabin nestled in the Waboons Kraal valley with beautiful mountain views. The cabin is a rustic, self catering cabin that was clean with all amenities. An outdoor pool and child friendly play area and lovely hiking trails on your doorstep.

I would rate the place 4 simply because of the views and the outdoor experience which made up for the very dated interior (I would rate the interior a 3). The staff were friendly and welcoming.
