Family visit in January. We enjoyed our stay but expected more for the relatively high price we paid. I have listed below the positives and negatives of our stay. This hotel has so much potential and it should be relatively easy for management to rectify. If they don’t, I’m afraid this hotel will not survive much longer.

Positives:
Very friendly and helpful management and staff, including reception, restaurants, concierge and shuttle service.
Very nice, large and spacious family room with all the usual amenities.
Very good buffet breakfast included in the price.
Location is perfect for going to the nearby beach (Herolds Bay)
Convenient and free shuttle service to the beach (a necessity as parking at the beach is very scarce)

Negatives:
The hotel grounds and gardens look very run down, with many empty, abandoned retail outlets and/or offices on the grounds. The gardens require urgent attention (for starters, just pick up all the dead leaves) and management must know that it’s not acceptable to have loads of cigarette butts lying around the main hotel entrance area. It’s just very sloppy and creates a bad impression with guests.
Having to use the hotel shuttle service to get to the golf clubhouse and restaurant is a major inconvenience to guests, particularly as the shuttle service is not always available immediately. Hotel guests already have a security access code for the hotel grounds, why not allow the guests to go to the clubhouse with own transport, or make them sign in with ID at the manned security boom.

I honestly feel that this hotel has so much potential. The location is great and it’s situated on a beautiful golf course. As it stands now, we will not return, as I feel the overall experience is not worth the money.

Unfortunately only stayed here for one night , wish I had more time.

The airport pickup I arranged from the hotel was no where to be seen so I got a taxi, no big deal (used to this kind of thing).

Checkin was fast immediate and painless, escorted to my Executive Suite and given all kinds of information by the nice checkin staff along the way.

The suite itself was great, with kitchen, dining, bedroom, lounge etc , certainly worth the money.

Food and service in the restaurant was quick and of good quality , they had forgotten to pre authorise my card so had to chase me back to my room to get paid.

Only one negative experience, I had a 2 hour meeting in the reception lounge with clients and wasn't offered even as much as a glass of water, that was a bit disappointing.

All in all a great hotel in a quiet location, I will certainly return when visiting the area again.

Hotel has great bargains through the year in off peak seasons. Corona virus has definitely taken its toll though.
Not enough staff to operate this huge facility leaves the quality of service wanting.

There where some really hard working people their but too many people to serve.

G.M was helpful and hands on which impressed me but they need more staff to help especially at weekend breakfast times.

Overall we will be back as the good outweighs the bad.

Room service closed at 20h30 -fine

Order was made at 19h30. I had to follow up 20h10, and received no call back repeatedly until 21h00 despite me asking what was happening, and then a shift change. Not once was I called back. The staff who had taken my order had decided to rather wait until their shift was over than deal with situation

At around 21h35, I was informed that my order had not been received - no kidding

No other food place is nearby. Good times

Breakfast better be good

The venue is great. I mean the situation in the landscape etc.
The building is nice but not exceptional.

Once I had ALREADY checked in, I was told that they're not doing the buffet breakfast, but that they would bring some muesli etc to the room?
I was asked what time i wanted this breakfast, I said 7:30.

The following morning I waited until 7:50 before having to leave for my golf booking.

I have stayed at Pezula, Simola and various other 4&5 star hotels on the garden route. This one needs work.
I would happily recommend it if a decent breakfast was served (which I had paid for) and just a bit of sweeping, cleaning, and general maintenance (I was told the spa and pool could be opened, "I must just go and ask there". Also, there was one restaurant open, and two items to choose from.

Overall an OK place to stay but not worth the price at those service levels and amenities I'd afraid. Felt more like a mediocre B&B than a 4 star hotel.

This hotel/resort/estate is MASSIVE, we were greeted by friendly guards and warned about the snakes before checking in. Chandelier hang elegantly in the foyer, we waited their while we were being checked in. After being shown to our beautiful room overlooking some body of water in the distance we went exploring the spa, deck areas, restaurants and more on the estate! Lots to see an duo in one night/day! I cannot imagine you would rebored if you decided to head down for a relaxing weekend! This hotel is sophisticated and classy! The rooms were amazing too.

My wife and I stayed at the spa for three nights. We both really enjoyed it. We ate in the three restaurants, the food and all of them was very good as well as the buffet breakfast.

All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and extremely courteous.

We also used the spa which we found to be excellent value and a very enjoyable experience.

We were given an upgrade to a presidential suite. It was a beautiful room with views over the golf course and towards the ocean

I used the gym which was as well equipped as any gym I have belonged to in North America.

I would have no hesitation in returning to this beautiful hotel

From arrival to departure our stay had just been awful. This hotel was one of the best hotels in area a few years ago when it operated under Hyatt. There are no standards currently and in my opinion it is a 2 star based on the services being offered. There is a lack of staff and the staff that are there is in need of serious training.

The current management is just incompetent as guests like myself are paying money and the services are just not there.

Please train your housekeeping to clean the rooms properly.....I am sure I could do a better job!

We could not wait to leave and will never return.

We were met by two very friendly security ladies at the entrance/boom and guided to the reception. Here again another very friendly lady by the name of Patience met us and upon checking us in, informed us that the room were not ready. She made us at ease and gave us some ideas to keep us busy but after an hour of waiting, I approach her again and she could not tell us how long it will still take to get a room ready. She and the elderly receptionist really tried hard but seems the "cleaning supervisor" didn't want to have any of it. Then we realized we are not the only visitors waiting for a room and decide it is best to travel back to Cape Town after 16h00. We were approached at our car by a Team Leader named Sherwin who overheard our conversation and tried to change our minds by offering us a free dinner but the hype were already gone to overnight as to what my friends had described as an awesome experience with their visit. The employees interacting with us deserve 5 stars. Your "back office supervisor with an attitude and her staff a big fat ZERO. Please share our appreciation with those friendly staff members who still made us feel special.

The Resort is located about 10 min from Georfe airport or the N2. Once passed the security gate, you find the reception with a Large entrance hall and many helping hands taking Care of your luggage. Some rooms (suites) are in another building, takes about 5 min walk. We had the junior suite which is fabulous and very spacious. 2 bathrooms, a working Desk, living room and Bath/ bedroom offer lots of space and amenities. Ok, there is only 1 coffee machine, 1 fridge..who needs more? The hotel wasn‘t busy, so the Spa closed at 5 pm and only 2 restaurants offered dinners. Those are pretty simple and „bar“ style, one is the member Lounge, which is in the golf club house, which requires a new safety code from the Gate and is only reachable by car
Breakfast was offered in the Main hotel restaurant.
We saw crews working on maintenance and upgrades, the Staff is extremely friendly, the price/ value is very balanced- so we don‘t know why there are not more customers..?

Yes, the gym is available to hotel guests. I didn’t see any times posted that said the gym wasn’t available. I know there’s a five hiking trail. I assume this can be used for running. Three rooms make up the gym. Two of them are very well equipped with exercise and weight lifting machines. As well as free weights. The third has a punch bag a speed ball, some exercise mats and some light free weights. There are also some squash and tennis courts.

We stayed 5 nights in an Ocean View room which was lovely. I can't comment on the pool view room as I have not stayed in one. The estate is beyond beautiful however there isn't much to do apart from golf, swimming and whale watching. Perfect for a relaxing stay.

Dear Amit Ahmedabad You are more than welcome to come and check-in any time before the official check-in time. If the room is ready you can have the room, but if it is not ready unfortunately you will have to wait. Kind Regards,
