Detailed Reviews
Fantastic experience staying here for three nights. Inclusive breakfast was freshly cooked to requirements. Full continental breakfast was available too, along with juice and tea/ coffee. Rooms were clean & spacious. Pool looked inviting, but we were too busy visiting family to utilise. Free high speed WiFi internet included. Good TV, with streaming services available. Wendy the owner was always on hand to assist if needed. Highly recommended to all.

There was only one place I wanted to stay and it was here at Edenwood House. This was the third time staying here. After a long journey from Australia, Queensland to George it was comforting to know that my accommodation was going to be as perfect, as always! The tranquil setting, impeccably clean, welcoming room with all needs catered to is just what one needs after a busy day working or exploring the surroundings. Dawn, the hostess, is most welcoming and makes one feel relaxed and at home. My dietary requirement of “gluten free” was happily catered for. The breakfast options make my mouth water just thinking of how delicious and well presented everything was. Advice on where to dine, shop or explore was readily available too. Edenwood is definitely “my home away from home”.

Thank you so much for the truly wonderful review. It made us all happy to read it and, under the circumstances, it saddens me that this will perhaps be your last visit. We are fortunate to meet many wonderful people every day and sometimes a really special guest walks through our doors and becomes a lifetime friend. You are one of those people and I am so glad I was able to spend so much quality time with you. I know we will keep in touch now that we are connected, and you never know I might make it all the way to Australia one day. Wishing you all the best in the world. Kindest regards Dawn and The Edenwood Team.

We stayed in Lemon Tree Cottage. Arrival was well handled and we were shown to our accommodation by Dawn, the proprietor. Bedroom very comfortable and very nice bathroom. Sitting toom area also comfortable. This self catering apartment is very well equipped for four but the breakfast bar and outside table will only accommodate two so difficuklt to imagine being able to entertain our family (two). Internet was intermittent and the hours of no connectivity seems to have coincided with lengthy planned power outages but rebooting the system not always successful. An irritant but cannot be laid at the door of Edenwood House.
No washing machine but a launderette, Bubbles, about one km away will give a same day service, including ironing - and at a low cost. The shops are a little further on and the facilities in George as a whole are readily available and close by. We enjoyed our stay. Recommended.

Dear Michael Many thanks for your review, so happy you were comfortable and enjoyed the privacy of the accommodation. The cottage is basically designed for two occupants only, hence two seats in the lounge and two at the breakfast bar and two on the patio, so not really meant for entertaining of guests, the extra dishes, etc that we supply are just for convenience, whilst preparing food. Had you expressly requested to be able to entertain your family that lives locally, I could easily have moved you to the bigger cottage next to yours after a couple of days when it became vacant - it has ample space for 6 guests. Or as an alternative, we would happily have carried over the four-seater table and chairs from the patio at Wiltshire for you to your patio, but we were not aware it was an issue. Please do not hesitate to ask should you come again, we would be more than happy to oblige and always try to make our guests feel that all their needs are met, that is possible and within our power. Sadly the free internet has been an issue of late due to the load-shedding throwing off the router all the time, and countless need to re-set - believe me we feel as frustrated as you, as does the rest of SA during these times. The good news is that the fiber has almost reached our street now - so hopefully the signal will be stronger and the issues will only be those of power from then on. Thank you for choosing Edenwood, it was a pleasure meeting you and I enjoyed our chats when you came over to the main house, and we hope to see you again someday. Kind Regards Dawn and The Edenwood Team

We spent two days at the Lemon Tree and Annex suites. Wonderful accomodation, very clean, high attention to detail, comfortable and in a very peaceful location 10 minutes away from the city center and close to beautiful beaches like Wilderness and Sedgefield. The owners are very friendly and helpful, always ready to give you some advice on what to visit in the surrounding area. Very good value for money. We hope we can come back soon!

Overlooking woodland, this was a beautiful location. Our room had a very useful kitchenette, which although we were only staying as bed and breakfast guests, was a useful seating area to sit and read our maps etc for the next days itinerary! The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower was very spacious and there was a large balcony, overlooking the swimming area, garden and woodland, with many wildlife to see.
Dawn was a lovely lady, very knowledgeable of the area around - thanks

Thank you so much, what a lovely review, we truly appreciate you taking the time to write it for us and we are so glad you were so comfortable. The Forest View Suite is special and we love it when it is appreciated. We can tell you are from the UK as you call the Forest "Woodland" - that is where I got the name from, being also from England, once upon a time and I called it the woods, and as we are in the Eden suburb it was a natural progression to join the words together. :-) I hope we can welcome you back to Edenwood one day and that the rest of your holiday was equally as enjoyable. Kindest regards Dawn and The Edenwood Team

I stayed in one of the upper rooms for 2 nights and was very surprised on how spacious it was. I normally work on my laptop during the evenings and had a choice of sitting outside on the stoep with beautiful views of the Outeniqua mountains or inside when it is a bit chilly. I have to mention the comfortable bed that made me sleep like a baby, it was quiet, good quality bedding and cushions. The host was welcoming and made sure that I was comfortable. Great breakfast and just what I needed before a busy day. Although the bathroom was not en-suite, it did not bother me because it was private and assigned for my exclusive use - it had a huge shower and beautifully decorated. Overall a most enjoyable stay and I will definitely be back. There is also Netflix.

We had a wonderful stay at Edenwood on the outskirts of George on the garden route. Dawn was a fantastic hostess, very friendly and had plenty of local restaurant recommendations to help us eat well during our stay! We also enjoying chatting to her and her sister about South Africa's history and some of the local places to go along the garden route and beyond. We stayed in the Regency Suite which was a great size room and bathroom, spotlessly clean, and plenty of room for 2 of us to spread out our things! The bed itself was large and very comfy, and the room very dark at night when we drew the curtains. The service overall was really superb. We loved meeting Dawn's pets (cats and dogs) who were ridiculously friendly, and the breakfast was yummy too. Can't recommend this guest house highly enough if you happen to be in George and need a place to stay!

The rooms met our expectations for comfort and cleanliness. Breakfast was a disaster no buffet was provided, no fresh fruit, cereals or marmalade. Poached eggs were not available. Considering the owner owns a bakery they ran out of croissants and muffins and the bread was supermarket sliced.a

Dear Ann We are truly saddened by your very harsh review of Edenwood, and to be honest I do not think you actually wrote this, as you were so sweet and pleasant to us during your stay, that I can hardly believe you would be so subjectively critical. I feel in the circumstances we need to address your comments from our point of view, as we only get one chance to vindicate our situation and your comments will thus stand for life and spoil our establishments reputation. You marked us down on service particularly and yet we served you breakfast in bed everyday except the first day as you were feeling so unwell, requesting soft scrambled eggs and croissants ,due to your throat operation. I personally serviced your room whilst you were in it to avoid staff interruptions, and you said you were very grateful, as you were unable to go out with the other ladies. The two ladies did come to breakfast and poached eggs were definitely provided. There were two full trays of croissants and muffins (24) brought home by the owner, but the ladies requested same for takeaway lunches and for afternoon tea and snacks of toast at 4.00pm - all of which was provided free of charge, and served in their rooms, despite that we are a guest house/B&B and not a full service hotel. (thus the value score is also a mystery to us) English tea was requested, and we had English tea, and 11 other types of tea, but apparently not the correct "brand" the lady required, and we were unable to find that brand the next day - they requested coffee and we made filter, not what they wanted so we then provided plunger coffee! - as we are struggling with the load shedding at breakfast time with only gas in the kitchen. There were three other preserves offered on the first day but not marmalade, this was provided though from the second morning as well as fruit and yoghurt as requested. Bread is sliced but actually from an Artisan Bakery Shop and they pre-slice it for us. We went above and beyond to make the ladies every request possible, even when the one lady said she wanted the pool lounger without the cushions (all the others have cushions but she wanted that one - which is a lattice stretch type without cushions) we went and placed extra towels on it to make it soft for her, and offered to move the cushions from the other loungers - there were no other guests using the facilities) The lady called Beverley left all her credit cards in the safe in her room at check out - we entered into correspondence and advised we would forward or keep them for her to collect on your return through George. Which she decided to do and we kept them safe for her and made sure we were available at the time requested for her to collect them. Is this not service?? We truly feel that we have been dealt a poor deal under the circumstances but we do understand that it is impossible to please all of the people all of the time - fortunately 99% of our guests are exceptionally happy, but alas when we get such comments it does hurt, but we know we did our utmost best and that is what counts. Perhaps things did not go as planned elsewhere on the trip and we bore the brunt of the fall out, or you mixed us up with another establishment along the way - we will never know? Yours sincerely Wendy and the Edenwood Team

All health and safety protocols are followed and I felt safe and very happy in this spotless and luxurious guesthouse. Thank you for making my trip a good one. Rooms are extremely well equipped and comfortable. I chose a self catering option and had a lovely stocked kitchen. Certainly a home away from home in a safe and friendly environment.

Dear Marcel
Many thanks for your enquiry.
They sound lovely and we are true animal lovers, sadly I have to say no. We have three dogs two cocker spaniels and an Irish Setter and 4 cats and they do not take kindly to guest pets. Also we keep our pets seperate from the guest areas as not all guests enjoy their company so it just does not work, have tried before and it always backfired on us.
So sorry.
Kind Regards
Dawn
