This small and exclusive hotel combines superb hospitality with the easy ambiance of African style and comfort. Situated in the middle of George - in a relaxed, very quiet and restful atmosphere - the luxury and sublime service of the hotel cater to the discerning traveller to George and the Garden Route. Imbued with the warm rich tones of Africa, The French Lodge International meets the needs of the 21st century in a truly unique way. Our rooms are all spacious with King-sized beds fitted with electric blankets. In addition, we have rooms with multiple bedding arrangements for the large groups.Each room has a couch as well as a desk and wardrobe. In addition, all our suites have coffee amenities, as well as a bar fridge, aircon and heating! Plus, All our Chalets have flat screen TVs! Each room has DSTV (as well as a French Channel!) And our en-suite bathrooms are beautiful with both shower and Jacuzzi! Our entire hotel is a wi-fi hotspot and guests are able to use the internet for free.

The owner and manager are absolutely friendly and very accommadative. They made us feel so welcome and offered even to wash our washing without us asking!!! We extended our stay with them as the relaxed atmosphere at the lodge and beautiful, inviting swimming pool was a big attraction. The breakfast was so filling and we only ate late afternoon/evening saving us to spend money on afternoon meals. It was so lekker taking early morning swims in the swimming pool. This was my second visit and this is my home away from home when I come to George.
This was a lekker vacation for me and my family. Oh yes, the Jacuzzi was awesome and also a huge attraction.

I had to make arrangements at the last minute for 3 nights and chose French Lodge International. Natasha and her team were extremely accommodating, and go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, the staff was amazing, and the breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared. I would highly recommend French Lodge International to friends and family members. Looking forward to my next stay

This is the second time we used FLI to stay during our golfing trip to George. It is well located in terms of distance and time required to reach the courses we played. The staff is exceptional friendly and helpful and it is a pleasure to deal with them. Breakfast was always excellent.

The French Lodge is inexpensive and comes with a good breakfast.
We chose this accommodation because of the good reviews.
We checked out after just one night because:
The room is damp and therefore has an unpleasant smell.
Especially from the much too small closet. Everything is old and dingy.
In the morning we were woken up by the loud birds, followed by the noise of the nearby road.
Unfortunately, the owner charged us the full amount for the 4 nights booked and did not accommodate us - too bad.

I found that the rooms and the bedding had a damp smell, so much so that I had to change rooms with one of my colleagues. If this had sorted the problem, I would not write this negative review. However, the bedding in the other room also smelled damp. I appreciate the difficulty of cleaning a thatched roof, however, the first room I was in was covered in spider webs.
The Wi-Fi was not working therefore I could not do any work while staying in your establishment.
I have to compliment you on the food and the service during breakfast. Fortune was an absolute pleasure to interact with.

Overall a very disappointing stay.
On arrival we were upgraded to another room however, the TV was not operating.
We were subsequently moved to another room. Here the TV was working however, DSTV is advertised but the channels are very limited. There also appeared to be something wrong with the establishment decoders as the signal was very intermittent.
The room was very dark with no natural light.
The bed linens and towels were threadbare and torn.
Hand towels were used as door and bathroom mats (this is just an accident waiting to happen)
No cutlery or crockery was available in the room. We had to request these. Glasses and cups were however available.
The Microwave was placed on top of the fridge - another dangerous practice.
To get to the dining room, one had to walk through mud although the rest of the area is beautifully paved.
The breakfast menu is very limited - only three items.
Nothing available for special dietary requirements or children.
The staff friendly and helpful.
I certainly would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Strugle to enter premisses threw garage door with High Rise Bakkie, as entrance is very narrow and low. As this was for business and work related, I had to take of ladders that was strapped on canopy and the canopy just past the door.
Room needs some maintenance as wall papers are peeling of walls and lights also not working only for 1 bed lamp and the bathroom.
As I had to leave early the next morning before breakfast time, I asked for a breakfast pack, to my disappiontment I recieved the same night one cheese and tamato sandwich, one juice and one apple. It was not even confirmed with me if I eat white bread, very disappionting.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Service was excellent and the staff friendly and eager to make you feel at home. Breakfast was delicious and the reception staff went out of her way to make me feel at home even though she had an injury. Will definately be coming back again for my future business trips.

This place is a nice refuge right next to a busy street. Garden looks nicely kept up, so did the pool. Rooms were old but looked ok, until we saw tiny black bugs all over our bed. Reception sent a cleaning lady right away and she cleaned it but needless to say, 5 min later these little bugs were all over the place, so I guess they fell from the ceiling. We walked right back out, as there is no way I can sleep there. Lady at reception offered us another room, but I had already checked the chalet next door, which had the same problem. I seriously doubt I am the first to report this problem…

Spent 3 nights at this lovely lodge, conveniently located in the centre of George it is very comfortable and a delightful mix of African and French chic. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The honeymoon suite was delightful and included a hot tub.
Good selection for breakfast - really a most enjoyable stay and would thoroughly recommend.
