We have had the pleasure to stay here previously, this time we opted for the Bay View Suite which has shared access with one other suite to use the splash pool.

Every day I had to pinch myself at the view from the apartment, there is so much to do close by, but equally to sit and enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon/evening, it never disappoints.

The apartment itself is decorated beautifully, we loved the calm colours, the ornaments and pictures on the walls. There is a hairdryer and safe, this apartment also has a washing machine (not that I used it) but could be so handy for those on longer travels. We used the Braii on the balcony on a couple of occasions, having eaten out so much prior to staying here it was really so lovely to kick back, cook for ourselves (Constantia Village where Pick & Pay is located is a very short drive away)when we fancied and as mentioned above, enjoy the panoramic view.

If you do want to eat out we enjoyed an evening meal at Pastis and fantastic breakfasts at Chardonnay Deli. With Wine Farms and other restaurants in the other you really will be spoilt for choice.

The owner, Ian, is an absolute star. I commented that it's like visiting a friend, and if the flights from the UK to Cape Town were not as expensive we would be visiting "our friend" far more often. He and his team are always happy to help with a smile and of course as mentioned in previous reviews, the beautiful fur babies of Hutch and Ugs. Adorable doggies.

Something on a small note but it has stuck in my mind, the bedding had such a lovely freshness to it, like when in the summer at home that washing can be hung on a line to dry. That reminds me also, copious amount of storage and a generous amount of hangers which is always welcome (especially for those of us who always bring too many clothes!).

The wine, beers and chocolate for arrival we think is such a generous welcome.

I could go on, and on, the upshot is we love it here, were sad to leave and hope very much to be back in the future.

Until next time,
Debbie & Clive

Wow. ! What a lovely review and such kind words, Debbie / Clive. All I can say is "Thank You", very much. You hit the nail on the head when you mention, 'visiting a friend'. Although a few years pass, between your visits ,when you do stay with us,it is like friends, returning home and your bright smile every morning Debbie, makes the day. Cant wait ,till 'next time'. Ian. ( and 'crew')

Breathtaking views of the sunrise over the mountains around Constantia and across to False Bay while staying in wonderful apartments in Constantis Vista. Outstanding value for money! Each arartment is extremely well equipped - everything is of a very high standard from the comfortable beds and sofas, the outdoor furniture and bbqs, the kitchens with washers and irons to the bathrooms and towels. A really luxury stay and Ian and his staff are a delight to meet!

If you enjoy a good view, then this is the place for you! We loved our room - it was spacious and had all the amenities that you could hope for, and the bottle of wine, beer and chocolate which the host had waiting for us was much appreciated. It lends itself to a longer stay as there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area. There are some excellent restaurants just a few minutes drive away (we loved Botanicum) and the Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens are simply breathtaking. Ian, the host, is friendly and helpful. We stayed in the room that someone else here referred to as "tired". Ian said that he would be giving it a face-lift over the winter, although we actually loved the homely feel. It's true, there are stairs, but this is inevitable for a property on a hill. It wasn't a problem for us and we enjoyed the privacy it lent. We highly recommend this place and, if we come back to South Africa, we will definitely stay here.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 weeks. We received a very warm welcome from Ian and Sya on our arrival, and that air of quiet efficiency was there in the background for our entire stay. Little touches like milk and cold drinks in the fridge and sweets on the pillows when we checked in, all added to the sense of being looked after. I think that was Samantha's doing. :-).
The pool is welcoming and although it's for the use of all the lets, it was never busy, nor noisy.
Being higher up, the views are stunning during the day and the twinkling lights at night are very pretty too. There's plenty wildlife to watch, I especially loved the swifts swopping by so close!
Even when our flight was cancelled and we needed another night's stay, it was no bother, even although our return there was in the wee small hours and the accommodation had been made ready for the next arrivals.
And I can’t forget to mention the dogs, Hutch and Uggie...they do like little treats!
You won’t be disappointed with this accommodation, it's just perfect.

The penthouse was clean, comfortable and has a breathtaking view. The peaceful surroundings enhance the stunning views. The location is close to "Groot Constantia" wineries, which is also central for most of the popular tourist attractions. The personal touches like chocolates, wine and beer is very thoughtful, and adds to the appeal of Constantia Vista. The owner/host - Ian is very welcoming, and so are the staff. I would recommend Constantia Vista and would plan to return in the future.

We were very disappointed with this place. Everything about the room was ‘tired’. We were meant to be there for a week and I am not sure where they wanted us to unpack our clothes.
We left after one night.

There is a cupboard with 5 hangers and that is all it could take. Dresses could not hang properly as there was a tiny shelf half way down the cupboard and that was the full extent of storage so we had to live out of suitcases. The furniture and linen is also old and tired.

The room was a lovely view but there was boil on the windows and our neighbors walked out their front door and looked straight into our room, so you had to keep the curtains closed if you wanted any privacy!

No cupboards in the bathroom either for toiletries.

The stairs, and there were a lot of them, were different heights and easy to trip on.

The owner is a lovely man but he needs to spend some time and money on the apartment we were in. The others looked very pleasant. Make sure you don’t get the apartment that is at the bottom of the stairs and enquirer about cupboard space If you are going for more than one night.

The place was clean and serviced from Monday to Friday? Weekends no service.

I am 'very sorry' you were not happy with your apartment,Beverly. Your critique has been noted and is appreciated. We are always looking for ways to improve and it is a very long time since a guest ,has been unhappy. I wish you had spoken to me before you left about your concerns,as we could have then moved you to another of our units, that became available,on the day. I am sure you did not notice the other clothes cupboard in the living room of your apartment and the large storage space behind the mirrors, above the sink in the bathroom, for toiletries. I am sorry that you felt that the "12" steps going down to your apartment, on either side ,were a bit much. They have always been there and are mentioned on our website so that potential guests who may have mobility problems are aware of them. Our linen is changed /renewed on a regular basis. You mention a 'boil', on the windows. I am not quite sure ,what you are referring to. If it is the small dolphin stickers ,on the windows you are referring to ,they are there so guest do not walk into the glass, on the big sliding doors. A safety, precaution. These are easy to remove and replace ,if required. Breakfast ; We have always been a 'self catering' establishment and advertise,as such. The apartments are serviced Mondays to Fridays as the vast majority of our guest do not want to be disturbed on the weekends but do offer this weekend services by prior agreement ,if required. This being said, we always do some remodeling in the 'off season' and I will look into the decor issue ,you have raised. Everybody has different ideas of what works and what, does not. I have not had any guest telling me that some of the decor looks 'tired' in the past and I need to look into this. If this is the case, be assured , it will be attended to, a.s.a.p. There is "always" room, for improvement I take pride in what we have to offer at Constantia Vista and as mentioned, your critique, is appreciated. Ian.

Just returned home from my third stay at Constantia Vista. It really is the most lovely place. I always stay in View Cottage and it really lives up to its name. The views are breathtaking and one of the reasons I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. It’s also peaceful even when fully booked giving you a feeling of privacy that you just don’t get at some places. Accommodation is very clean and fully equipped with everything you might need during your stay. A bottle of wine waiting when you arrive, chocolates on the pillows really makes you feel special. The host Ian is a fountain of knowledge of things to do during your stay and nothing is too much hassle, even when we needed to return at 3am due to a cancelled flight, we were welcomed back, something I wont forget. The staff Sya and Samantha are lovely, really go the extra mile and I can’t forget the dogs, Hutch and Uggy, so cute, they like to visit the apartments now and again to see if there are any treats and to get cuddles. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I am back at Constantia Vista.

As in the past,it was a "pleasure" to have you stay with us again,Hannah. The 'bonus' this time, was to have met your Mom ,at long last . With you as her 'Gide' , I am sure she saw 95% of what Cape Town has to offer on her 1st trip, to the 'Mother City' and needed a week to recover when ,back home. :-) Once again, thank you for everything and the little dogs, miss your , "treats & cuddles". We were most fortunate to be able to spend two months at Constantia Vista. This is our go to lodging in Cape Town and would not consider any other place to spend our New England winters. For the many years we’ve stayed here Ian our most affable host has continued to make improvements to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Most recently he has had the wisdom and foresight to add solar panels and battery backup to mitigate the effects of a situation called load shedding. Do to the lack of adequate generating capacity the national electricity supplier shuts down for up to 4 hours at a time. But thanks to the sophisticated system Ian has installed the lights are always on.
We are also appreciative of the excellent staff who keep the property in top shape. In addition Uggie and Hutch the two canines in residence make it seem all the more homey.
The location is on the Constantia wine trail so there’s also many great opportunities to dine and drink.
If its 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months you will be most satisfied choosing Constantia Vista.

My parents and I stayed in two separate units on the property. The guest accommodation is a series of joined units located around a central swimming pool and all boasting spectacular views of the area. Both our accommodations included a kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean and tidy. However, the downside to all the accommodation having wonderful views is that other guests walk by your windows at all times of the day and night and so if you don't want to feel like a goldfish in a bowl, you need to keep your curtains closed. We were not inconvenienced by load shedding as the property has a generator which kicks in. The WiFi was good. You do need a car if staying at this location as it is some distance from the shops (and obviously from tourist sights in Cape Town), but it is quiet and beautiful with lots of walks/hikes in the area. Our rooms were not serviced in the 4 days that we stayed here but it wasn't really needed.

I have stayed in Constantia at different places. The owner is very nice and welcoming and together with his staff they make your stay a pleasure. I had a big room with balcony overlooking the vineyards, Cape Flats towards Muizenberg and False Bay - a very very beautiful view. I never turned on the TV. I warmly recommend this place for your relaxing stay.

I had asked in the first place if the clothing had been taken to wash, and was told by Ian that the staff would not have done that as they did not do washing. He has since given me 4 different versions of what transpired - each one totally different. And has now changed his story again to the 'washing' version - which he told me in the first place they did not do. He was also very reluctant to courier the items back to me due to the cost involved, which is why he has repeatedly tried to make the whole thing sound like my fault. What Ian has failed to learn in this whole debacle is that it is not what happened, but how he has handled it, that has upset me. Instead of just apologising and getting the stuff back to me, he has argued, tried to blame it on me, changed his story repeatedly and lied. Very unprofessional Ian - and you know it.
