First, four of us played a round of golf on the perfectly manicured Steenberg Golf Course, then we checked into the hotel, just a few days after it had reopened after the Covid pandemic. The three upstairs rooms we occupied were classically quaint and delightful, everything about them charming. The three women in our party reported enjoying the Spa and, after that experience, our entire party was chauffeured to a pleasant tapas dinner at Bistro Sixteen82, included in the hotel tariff, which was remarkably inexpensive for what we were presented.

Steenberg hotel and spa really knows how to make their guests feel at home. From the moment we arrived, we were treated almost like family come home. The lady that showed us to our villa, Nolene, did such an excellent job that I had no doubt where everything in the house was. It was also such a lovely treat on a cool evening to come in and find that a fire had been lit in the lounge and the underfloor heating switched on throughout.

We were exceptionally lucky with the weather and had spectacular views wherever we went on the farm. The lady that presented our wine tasting of the Flagship Range at Bistro 1682, Chanel, had an encyclopaedic knowledge of both the farm history and the wines, which combined to make the experience unforgettable. This, coupled with the fact that we took the 16:30 setting and had the sun climbing down the sky behind the mountains during the tasting, giving the beautiful tasting room a warm glow.

We had a lovely tapas dinner at the restaurant as well, and I can strongly recommend the beef tataki and the delicious chocolate dessert served with the salted caramel ice cream. The dessert really was a show-stopper as nothing was particularly sweet and yet rounded out the meal perfectly. The view of the lights of the Constantia valley on the clear evening when we returned to the hotel was the figurative cherry on top.

We woke up to the incredible view below from our bedroom the next morning with the sound of birds in the trees. The California king beds are a sumptuous luxury, with pillows and linens to match. Lounging around in a fluffy robe after a hot shower just enhanced the feeling of being on a cloud. We finished off our stay with a delicious breakfast at Tryn (with the most perfectly poached eggs that I have ever eaten!) and a short walk around the farm before heading out.

My only complaint about my stay is that it wasn't longer. I encourage the friendly and welcoming staff at the estate to keep up the great work. You are a credit to the Constantia valley, Cape Town, and South Africa overall.

This was an exceptional hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for us, so polite and attentive to our every need. The delicious breakfasts and evening meals could be taken either outside or inside overlooking the wonderful vineyards.
Although most rooms are on the ground floor in these lovely old Dutch buildings we had a beautiful and newly appointed room upstairs in the main house with skylights overlooking the mountains. Extremely relaxing and so close to the brilliant golf course. The grounds were delightful too. We will be returning for sure.

We stayed here 4 nights and had a great time. Our room was upgraded to a duplex suite which was quite large (to say the least). Everything in the room was excellent except the door! It is a stable door and quite fiddly to unlock open and close - you can easily trap a finger if you are not careful!

There is a large lounge and dining area downstairs with a small kitchen, and the bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. In addition there is a small private patio that overlooks the vineyard, with loungers and a table and chairs - a great place to unwind after a hard day’s holidaying!

The property is spread out over a number of buildings in the main hotel, and the bistro which is a short walk across the vineyard. Of course you can get a ride there anytime, and also to the local shops and restaurants if you want to eat out.

The food is excellent, and the service first class. This is a really great place to explore Constantia and the Cape Town area and I recommend it very highly.

Dear Ian14-11 Thank you for your lovely feedback in regards to the team, location and your appreciation for our beautiful gardens and vineyards. Steenberg really is the perfect location as a base when exploring the Constantia winelands area. Any feedback is truly appreciated as we strive to delight our guests. In this instance we are limited with the heritage status of our buildings and what we can alter, as it needs to be in line with the heritage council guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards, Catherine

We had an amazing few days at Steenberg. Room was so comfortable and the hotel made an extra effort to have it ready for us when we arrived in the morning from an overnight flight. We really enjoyed a lunch at Tryn and the tapas dinner at Bistro 1682 - both were delicious, although the prawn starter at Tryn was a particular highlight (of all the meals we had in South Africa, not just at Steenberg). A wine tasting was included in the cost of our room, which was a great touch (we obviously added a few extra wines too). Gardens and pool area were beautiful - just perfect for a few hours relaxing in the morning. All the staff at the hotel and in the restaurants were kind and friendly - we would love to return soon and would highly recommend

An incredible day at a fantastic vineyard!

My girlfriend and I visited Steenberg and had the most amazing time, a breakfast in the Bistro started things off with breath taking views across the impeccably kept gardens looking out onto the mountain range behind. Brioche and honey-butter syrup to start accompanied with a glass of sparkling wine followed by a sumptuous breakfast of eggs benedict and royale! We were made to feel like family with very attentive staff always wearing a warm smile.

A hotel shuttle then picked us up and took us to the spa where we had couples massage in the scented garden, I can highly recommend doing this, not being a massage person this has certainly changed everything!
Once the massage was over my girlfriend headed back to the Spa for a facial and I was able to relax by the lovely swimming pool listening to the bird song.

Lunch was next with a table at the restaurant Tryn, very hard to fault anything about it with a superb menu and wine list! The staff throughout the whole of Steenberg are so friendly and really make you feel like you are at home.
Overall it was an incredible experience and a day we won’t forget in a very long time. For anyone looking and deciding on a vineyard to visit in Cape Town that has everything this is the only one you need to know about. Thank you to everyone at Steenberg for such an unforgettable day!

Beautiful rooms, spacious, amazingly decorated, everything you need and the service is second to none. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like royalty, every staff member remembering our names and the fact we'd visited before. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all incredible and despite the Corona Virus and the golf club, wine tasting and Bistro being closed, our stay was still very special. It's not the cheapest place to stay in Constantia, but that’s not why you go there, the views, service, staff, food and overall special experience is why and I expect to pay for that! We’ll certainly be back. Thanks Steenberg team, very special and there’s not a thing that’s too much trouble. An absolute must visit and stay.

I don't normally leave reviews but I felt Steenberg hotel deserved this.

I surprised my partner with a valentine's day getaway to celebrate 'us'. The staff at Steenberg made it so incredibly special - they even upgraded us as a surprise to the premier suite. On arrival, it felt like we were the only people there and we were treated like royalty from the very start. The spa treatment was wonderful and the food at Bistro 1682 was fantastic - in fact, we have never had food quite as delicious! I will recommend this hotel in a heartbeat and I will definitely be coming back soon. I think what made the experience even better was the way we were treated by the staff and manager - thank you!

This is a fabulous hotel, every member of the staff are friendly, you’re made to feel like the only people staying. The attention to detail in the rooms, which are very well equipped is excellent. You have a choice of restaurants Bistro Sixteen 82 and Tryns, both offer breakfast, lunch and dinner with outdoor and indoor seating. We tried both for breakfast and evening, we were lucky with the weather so sat outside and would recommend both restaurants. The in-room breakfast was good and spot on time, the granola is something special!
There's a great golf course, which you need to book as gets busy, but you can use range balls ahead of your game, there’s caddies, which are optional and golf carts. They rental clubs looked good, although we had our own.
We had a great Wine tasting, which is complimentary as part of your stay, and Steenberg do some good wines, so worth a visit. There is a spa but we didn’t use these facilities.
The hotel shuttle offers options to local restaurants (within 5k I think) and also a complimentary shuttle to the V&A at 10am with a pick up at 3:30… so a good amount of time to enjoy the V&A, worked perfectly for us (you need to book though). If you want to go slightly further than the local area, they have very reliable drivers in nice vehicles, that they can arrange for you, including airport pick ups, which we made use of, but of course that’s chargeable.

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom house with living room, donning room, kitchen, own pool and gardens.

We were welcomed to this hotel from the moment we drove up to the front gate. Check in was seamless. Every little luxury was catered to our needs. The staff cannot do enough. Tracey booked dinner for us one night. As we had the most gorgeous kitchen we bought some salad ingredients in the local supermarket. The plates and kitchen wear supplied were absolutely stylish.

My husband likes firm pillows. They were supplied. I said that there wasn’t a long mirror and within minutes I had a long mirror. As was anything else I asked it was immediately delivered.

The grounds are divine. We went on a long long walk through the vineyards. Such exquisite scenery. At the entrance of the hotel is a must. The Norval foundation. It was the most beautiful and interesting museum I have ever visited with divine gardens.

My husband and I would definitely return. Thank you team for the perfect stay.
