Devonport House is situated in a great location with amazing views of table top mountain. The rooms are very well equipped and beautifully presented. Jacques was a very welcoming host and was able to advise us of restaurants in the local area we may enjoy. He sent us links and also booked us a reservation. He also took the time to give good guidance on making the most of our stay Cape Town and how travel locally using Uber. Which was an excellent service as well as making himself freely on WhatsApp.
The buffet breakfast will set you up well for the day .

With uninterrupted views of Table Mountain, Devonport House is an exceptional guest house where we recently stayed for 8 nights. Jaques is an excellent host, providing us with information on restaurants, sightseeing, best routes to travel etc. His knowledge of the area was so helpful, and he is always happy to book
restaurants or advise times to travel. The guest house is immaculately kept and the staff are friendly and helpful. The garden with barbecue and seating is a perfect area for an evening drink. We made full use of the the terrace and pool area which has an amazing view as did our bedroom and balcony. It is not often you can recommend without hesitation but this is certainly the case with Devonport House.

Once you arrive at Jaqcues' property you know why this Guesthouse has a 9.9 out of 10 with booking. He took care of us from the first moment until the sad farewell. The room that we got was wonderfully furnished and had a breathtaking view to table mountain and devils peak from our veranda. the rooms have no numbers but names. Ours was the "fynbos" like the great vegetation around his house. We just loved and enjoyed every single minute with Jaques and his wonderful employees Prudence, Grant and Seto. They made our stay a memorable and very "touchy" one. The breakfast was great and of course "with a view". Location is very safe and quiet but only 10 Minutes away from nice restaurants. Jaqces was there for us every evening and morning to help us with our sxploring and dining plans. He has a great knowledge about Capetown and the Western Cape. and the do's and dont's. Ask for red wines, he has just a great variety of superb wines at reasonable rates. Also great that he brings the guests together in the morning, or introducing new guests to the group . But also he invites for a chat and a spontanous drink on his nice terrace. We will definitely visit him again even if we only pass for a chat, he made us feel like friends!

We were group of 8 golfers on our last days of vacation in SA.
very nice accomodation with max 5 rooms and beatiful view to Table mountain. Very good and nice breakfast with wide variety. Rooms quite small but nicely furnished. Guesthouse is on big hill so "last mile by foot " to reach it is quite challange.
Very nice terrace with panoramatic view, small sufficient pool. We could used main kitchen in the afternoon to prepare our drinks and our small tapas food.
Only small issue was low quality of WIFI connection.

Words cannot express how grateful we are!

First and foremost l want to thank Jenn and Jacques for your generosity and incredible hospitality at Devonport House.

Devonport House is supremely beautiful and the environment so serene that we immediately felt at home. We loved everything in the house including spacious spotless, bright and well decorated rooms which had spectacular views through the large windows.

The vineyards, mountains and the city views during day and night was breathtaking. The beds were cozy comfortable and the interior decor of the house was top-notch, it brought warmth, beauty and enthusiasm. The entire house was meticulously clean. The breakfast was sumptuous and we had a great time jogging at the Groot Constantia Winefarm which borders the property.

We didn’t swim due to our short stay but the ambience of the entire property was impeccable!

You treated us with utmost kindness, patience and understanding. We can’t thank you enough for that amazing generosity. Thank you for lavishing us with attention and reception which is now ingrained in our memories.

Devonport House matched 💯 expectations of our stay & we would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We hope to be back soon for a longer duration.

Ahsante!

Wonderful property on the mountain surrounded by greenery yet very close to the city centre. One could not ask for more. The staff are attentive and friendly and the owner is always on hand to offer advice as well as local knowledge. They couldn’t do enough for us and made our family reunion extra special.

Jacques and Jenny are wonderful hosts and the house is an ideal base from which to explore Constantia. Situated right next to Groot Constantia winery, you can easily walk to the winery and its restaurants from the house. Also down to High Constantia and the excellent restaurants there. The rooms are extremely comfortable with well fitted en-suite bathrooms and lovely personal touches. We would definitely recommend this as a peaceful and luxurious place to stay, we had a great stay. They were also able to organise a licensed guide to take us to hike up Table Mountain which was an incredible experience and one well worth doing if you are fit enough to walk up 111 flights or steps!! It was beautiful and made all the more interesting by our excellent guide, Henning. Devonport House also have their own driver who can be booked to take you further afield.

We stayed here for 6 nights at the start of January and wished we didn’t have to leave!

The guest house itself if absolutely stunning, with lovely communal areas and a fabulous pool. The location is so convenient to walk through the vineyards for a spot of lunch or just a short drive to the waterfront or camps bay. We felt so relaxed here as the setting is so private and peaceful.

Our room was very spacious, exceptionally clean and with the comfiest bed. Breakfast each morning was very fresh and with a nice range. We particularly loved the complimentary cake served each afternoon!

On top of everything above, the thing that really made this guest house extra special are the hosts Jacques & Jenny. They are both so welcoming and happy to help with restaurant recommendations or day trip ideas. We honestly felt so at home with these two and are already planning our return trip!

Thanks again for making our holiday so wonderful

From the time we step foot on the property it was a peaceful and enjoyable experience. The hosts and staff were very kind and helpful. The facilities and garden are in an immaculate condition. Food is delicious - the breakfast is enough to keep a young growing man's tummy 'satisfied' up to dinner. Definitely recommended for a stay-over!

We booked for four nights, and stayed six. And after our round trip in the area we came back again for our last to nights in Capetown. Think that says it all.
Host Jacques has built a beautiful Guest House to make strangers feel like home.and leave as friends. He's always there to recommend great restaurants, tours and more whereabouts in the Westcape area.
The Rooms are spacious, well equipped with all you need. Also nice sitting at the pool, down at the BBQ place or unter the shady tree. Great view to Table Mountain and Devil's Peak, totally quiet up in Tambourskloof, and still only 10 minutes away from Waterfront Area. City Centre is even in walking distance. Would go there again anytime.

Unfortunately for all Capetown travellers, the Guesthouse is moving. The Good News is: Devonport House will be re-opening in Hermanus very soon. I am sure, that Jacques will have an equally fantastic place to spend some days right next to the ocean.
We will be back for sure!!!
