We had a lovely stay at the number5 guesthouse and Marie was very helpful in suggesting restaurants, bars and things to do.
The location is great as just around the corner is Kloof street with lots of brunch / dinner options which is very popular with young South Africans.
Thank you!

I loved my five nights at Number5 Guesthouse. Nathan welcomed me and help me settle into my new home for five days. It’s a wonderful warm and well curated place. I thought perhaps because of the location in the hip Kloof Street area and because it’s priced less than many boutique hotels that I would be one of the older patrons. The guest house draws people of all ages many from France. I had wonderful conversations at breakfast with older French women who were refined and interesting, while flanked by a young family. The breakfast spread was wonderful. I was in the elephant room and it was spacious with a little balcony overlooking the mountains. Not used to solo travel, and I had just dropped my daughter off for a college program in Cape town so I did have my apprehensions. Nathan and the wonderful women at Number5 made me feel at home gave me good recommendations. Plus they were just really kind and fun. I hope to come back to Cape town and I will be staying at Number5.

A warm welcome, very helpful and caring staff, beautiful room: we spent 3 nights at the guesthouse and felt at home. On top of that, you cannot dream of a better location: 10 minutes away from all best spots and 2 minutes walk from the main street filled with bars and restaurants, great animation! Therefore super safe to go out and enjoy! We definitely recommend this place. Thank you Patricia and the team!

Interesting, quirky design in an old house. Sylvie was welcoming and friendly. I loved the easy-going atmosphere alongside the attention to detail. My room was small but very comfortable with everything I needed. It is a short walk to buzzing Kloof Street with restaurants of all types and central for exploring Cape Town.

Owners speak French. No problem for late arrival (around midnight); Aubin was here to kindly assist us at arrival. Airport transfer was kindly organized by Guesthouse and also guided tour of Cape Town. Nearby city center and restaurant (no need to have a car). Easy to park a car in the street. Nice room and good breakfast. Nice terrasse outside for eating or drinking. Coffee machine at disposal, common fridge, etc….
Owners at disposal for giving advices when needed.

My wife and I had a very nice stay at the Number5 Guesthouse. The rooms were comfortable and basic, but had everything you'd need. The breakfast in the morning was hearty with plenty of options, and the staff was nice and helpful. The location was near to plenty of bars and restaurants, as well as accessible to the rest of the city/area. Overall, a nice place! The only odd thing was that a house cat that belonged to either the guesthouse or a neighbor jumped through our open window at night and woke us up. Ha! The cat was friendly and we let it out of the room and it didn't bother us for the rest of the night, but it was a surprise waking up to a cat on my legs at 2am!

Very friendly staff with knowledge of town and things to do. Super fine breakfast in outside patio. Clean rooms with good beds and a nice balcony for general use where you can drink your cold beer after a long trip.
