From start to finish the courteous, helpful and thoughtful team at Tintagel guest house made sure our stay in Cape Town was a great experience. The property is lovely and in a good location close to shops, restaurants and bars whilst within easy reach of many of the main sights. It is tastefully decorated with antique furnishings, pictures and silverware. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed and spotlessly clean en-suite bathroom. Breakfast which is varied and generous is taken in the dining room where there is the opportunity to meet other guests. Martin and Utah couldn’t have been more helpful. Their advice and recommendations helped to make our stay memorable and thanks to them we visited places of interest we may have otherwise missed. We can’t recommend Tintagel Guest House enough and are delighted we chose it for our first visit to Cape Town.

I visited Cape town for 2 weeks for the first time and would recommend everyone to stay in this hotel. There are large very clean rooms with everything you may possibly need, hotel's team and owner are extremely helpful (Utah and Ivan) who will guide you on everything you need, help to book traveling activings from seeing whales, safari, good restaurants or just chat with you about SA culture and give a general advice. The location is just in 3 -5 mins from major touristic streets with tons of restaurants and shops. At the same time it is in safe and quiet area. The guesthouse is decorated in sophisticated style that will be enjoyed by the lovers of the architecture and art, and you can also enjoy well selected classic music from time to time. If I ever visit Cape town again, I will definatelly stay in this hotel. I saw the rooms in other places booked by my friends in the city at the same or even higher price which were much smaller and not at this level, who regretted that they didnt book at this guesthouse. I am very thankful to Utah who made me feel like at home during these two weeks that I've been in Cape Town. Dedinately choose this place to stay if you want to spend a good quality time in the city.

I had an incredible experience staying at Tintagel Guest Lodge. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and helpful staff who made us feel right at home. The hostel's location was perfect, offering breathtaking views of Table Mountain and easy access to the city's attractions.

The accommodations were comfortable and clean, with cozy dorm rooms and a communal area for breakfast that encouraged socializing with fellow travelers. Also has a terrace, very peaceful.

Overall, my stay at Tintagel exceeded my expectations. It's the perfect place for Cape Town sightseeing with friendly atmosphere, affordability, and a gateway to the wonders of this beautiful city. I will encouragely recommend it to my friends

Tintagel is brilliantly positioned guesthouse, the rooms are beautifully furnished with comfortable linen. Friendly host and staff always willing to help and give advice on where to go out. Safe parking is available and you can safely walk to nearby restaurants for a bite to eat. Breakfast is a delicious spread including a continental offering & traditional cook up. Really a lovely and comfortable stay.

The guesthouse has a very central location, you could easily reach bars and restaurants on foot in the evenings. Longstreet is also within walking distance. 10 minutes by car to the Waterfront, Table Mountain and Camps Bay. The staff is very nice and gives good tips. The breakfast was rich. The accommodation is located in an old town house, is stylishly furnished and very clean. Parking is possible on the enclosed property. For us the perfect stay in Cape Town!

When planning the trip, we happened upon the concept of a guest house. Quite different to a hotel experience. We sought to feel like locals in a strange city for not so a short time (11 days), and not tourists, as is usually the case in any, even the most expensive, hotels.Tintagel Gest House exceeded our expectations. All the amenities of the guest house and rooms are listed in the description of the hotel. Everything corresponds to the reality. As soon as the door to the house opens, the fragrance of something inexpressibly refined and special envelops you. It turned out that in two living rooms of the house there are fresh flowers in vases that exude this wonderful fragrance (or maybe something else was added to them - it remained a mystery). The house is quite an old building, in the English colonial style, combines the spirit of the good old classics and comfort. Fastidious and expertly renovated. Antique furniture, silver dishes, soft light that spreads around the room and creates comfort, rooms are individualist, but in the same genre. Each has its own delights. There are patios where it's nice to sit over a cup of rooibos or coffee and look through albums on world architecture and books on the history and sights of Cape Town from the owner's rather impressive library. After a long journey, it's nice to be in a cozy room and drink a port from a decanter (very English). The whole atmosphere and the warm welcome of the owners and staff of this house from the threshold creates the feeling that you have come to visit friends whom you have not seen for a long time. The longer you stay in this house, the more one becomes a guest of the consummate host and the long standing staff. Its creator and owner is very much the English gentleman, a cognoscenti. An amazing personality, very educated, subtle, intelligent, with a sense of humor and interest in life and people. He is an architect, he created this house, having thought through the smallest detail. The location is in amongst the action. Kyriacos and Irina, spring 2023

Response from Ivan Flint, Owner at Tintagel Guest House
Responded 10 Oct 2023
Dear Kyriacos (Keith!) and Irena, Thank you most sincerely for your generous comments, which are most kind! From the start we have always striven towards a most modest offering, never wanting more than a 3-star status, and seeking always to just provide a bed that is hopefully better or at least equal to what our guests have at home, a simple but pristine bathroom, and a substantial breakfast with no frills at all – all rather what our own families would want on their travels. Even our building and furnishings make no claim to fashion or pretension, and merely embody our own Cape traditions, which we trust are therefore somewhat timeless. But our chief joy is sharing each day what we have here with our wonderful guests, and the daily human interaction with the entire rest of the world on an interpersonal level that is so far removed from the hype of politics, the news media, and the internet. If you feel that we have created a little sanctuary here, then that is indeed the greatest affirmation we could wish for. With sincerest greetings from Utah, Sean, our lovely ladies, and me. IVAN

After decades of traveling the world, I have rarely had an experience as extraordinary as Tintagel Guest House in Cape Town. Staying here is a true step back in time, in a stunning colonial residence from the 1800s where historic charm blends seamlessly with contemporary luxury.
The interiors are beautifully curated: antique furnishings, refined fabrics, and gleaming silverware create an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The inner courtyards, with their lush greenery and bubbling fountains, offer peaceful corners to relax and unwind.
The impeccable staff makes the stay even more special, with a level of hospitality that is rare and precious.
I would gladly give this place more than five stars, but unfortunately, that’s the limit. Tintagel is not just a place to stay, it is an unforgettable experience.

Tintagel is a lovely, beautiful house built in 1891 with a beautiful Dutch Cape architecture. The house is located in a central, safe and beautiful area of the Gardens area of Capetown. It is home to lovely staff members, rich history and beautiful food and rooms. It's interior is from the Victorian era and had beautiful artwork as well. The gardens are perfect for summer breakfast and lunch where I enjoyed many meals over my 7 day stay. It has a pear tree that's as old as the house. I was particularly impressed by the interaction the staff had with the guests every day. It made it feel like home. Ivan, Ethan and Sean are very helpful in planning tours as well as giving information to guests on how to navigate the town. It is located near a few restaurants and a beautiful gemstone shop called Afrogem for any guests seeking souvenirs or gifts. The rooms are very comfortable, homely and clean. The breakfast is amazing. Lots of fresh fruits, great coffee and all kinds of cereals. I had the privilege of having Maltabella porridge that the owner recommended as one of his childhood breakfast meals. The rooms are set in a way to offer comfort and serenity away from the bustle of the city and one can enjoy a book at the porch while enjoying a view of the table mountains after many touristy events. Definitely worth checking it out. Everyday, they raise the flags of the various guests at the facility to give a sense of welcome and familiarity. I highly recommend the place and will definitely visit in the future. Thanks for a lovely time.

Response from Ivan Flint, Owner at Tintagel Guest House
Responded 15 May 2023
Dear Michael & Vivienne, We are pleased to receive very many guests, but you are surely among some of the most memorable! It was really a pleasure to have you come and stay with us, and we are so pleased to have introduced you to our indigenous Maltabella Sorghum porridge, which so so much more nutritious than the maize imported for America! Actually this house was built in 1881 among the first in the English Victorian colonial style, which was much more suited to a modern suburban lifestyle than the old 18th century Cape Dutch, and to this day it remains so much more satisfying than the modern buildings of the 20th century. Maybe we shall all meet up again some day, and until then you carry our best wishes on your international life's journey.

The Tintagel Guesthouse is became a home away from home. The hotel is small but pretty and relatively quite. It is nicely decorated and rooms are spacious. Breakfast is simple (muesli, fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads and cheeses and eggs) and of good quality. They provide a carafe of aperitif in the room and free coffee in the lobby. Martin and Utah care for their guests and go out of their way to provide suggestions and advice. They arrange drivers, book tours and help with whatever is needed. If you are looking for a pool and fridge in the room, please look elsewhere. The Tintagel is close to Kloof Street, where one can find many nice restaurants and even a well stocked SPAR. It takes about 15-20 min walk to get to the City Sightseeing office (the take off point for many tours) on 81 Long street. It is safe to walk during the day. I was advised not to walk anywhere by myself in the evenings.
