Detailed Reviews
Situated in the tranquile Tamboorskloof and with an amazing room decor! Kloof Street and Long Street with all it's shops and restaurants is in walking distance and very safe.
The owner is very friendly and comes for a chat at breakfast every morning. Same goes for the rest of the staff. The only downside is that our room was directly next to the breakfast/garden area so we would be woken up quite early. And although the breakfast was good we did expect a bit more on offer for a 4* star guesthouse. We sure recommend the place as a base to discover Cape Town.

Response from RolandHupfer, Owner at Jardin d'Ebene Boutique Guesthouse
Responded 14 Jun 2014
Dear Emma W, thank you very much for your nice review! My name is Roland and we took the guesthouse over in September 2013. We made some very small changes in the house so far, as we think the design is fantastic and no need to change! One of the small changes we made is the breakfast - we have now more cereals to choose from, more yoghurt, more cheese and cold meat, different kind of bread every day, bigger range of jams and of course you still can choose how you like to have your eggs... We hope that we could welcome you again to have your feedback if we improved as well in your eyes ;-) Thanks again and all the best, Roland

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Roland’s guesthouse for 5 nights and loved it! The guesthouse feels very safe, breakfast is fabulous and served on the terrace every morning and Roland and his staff are so friendly and helpful. He provided lots of excellent tips for eating and drinking in the area as well as things to explore which were all spot on! We would definitely recommend this little oasis in Cape Town and come back again.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this wonderful B&B. The house is an old farmhouse with 5 rooms for guests. Our host, Roland, made us feel very welcome and was a fount of knowledge on the many attractions available in Capetown. Our room, the Zebra room was spacious with a large bathroom with a big tub/shower and double sinks. The large bed was very comfortable with a warm duvet.
Breakfast consisted of 3 very fresh types of bread with many spreads (my favourite was the orange marmalade). There were several cereals, 3 delicious yoghurts and fresh fruit along with exquisite French pastries. We were able to order fresh eggs cooked as requested, bacon, mushrooms, and tomatoes. The coffee was the best I have tasted in Capetown. We were able to dine leisurely in the beautiful garden area. On our last morning, we elected to go to Table Mountain so thought we had missed breakfast as we arrived back at the B&B after 10:00am. Much to our surprise, Roland kept all the breakfast goodies available for us. Great service!
Wine, beer and soft drinks were kept in a cooler in the living room and cookies and fresh chocolate muffins were always available.
Roland made several reservations to various restaurants for us as well as a wine tour to the wine region.
The staff at the B&B were all very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Jardine d’Ebene if you are looking for a “home away from home” in a great location in Capetown.

Had a wonderful week here. Very much a personal service and you feel like you are staying with friends. We had lots of good advice on restaurants and what to see and when. Many thanks to Roland, Alex and the team for a great stay.

I'd give 6 stars if they were available! The property is lovely - atmospheric, tucked away, secure, charming, lovely mix of modern and historic. My room (Elephant) was huge with an enormous and very comfortable bed. Plenty of natural light and good blinds for privacy. Breakfast was great - lots of fresh fruit, freshly cooked rolls and pastries, and delicious eggs and bacon. Great location close to excellent restaurants on Kloof Street (Black Sheep and Cafe Paradiso were both very good).
Downhill walk to Company Gardens, District 6 museum; simple to get an Uber back at the end of the day.
Almost best of all was the warm welcome from Roland and his team, and the good advice on tours, places to eat and visit.
Can't recommend enough!

We were welcommed by Roland who gave us a brilliant overview of the Guesthouse as well as over Cape Town. The room was excellent and the beds really comfortable. Great breakfast by the little pool in the garden under the trees! The only negative was we only stayed for 2 nights! We highly recommend it and would love to come back for our next trip!

My friends & I had a wonderful experience of Cape Town, staying at jardin d’ebene. Roland was an excellent host, forthcoming with tips & suggestions to help us make the most of a few days exploring the city & beyond. This included offers to make restaurant reservations well ahead of our visit. Breakfast was always delicious & set us up well for heading out for the day, and Roland & the team we’re very accommodating when our flight schedule changed to an early morning departure. Would highly recommend staying here as a central base from which to explore Cape Town.

We were staying for a week at this guesthouse and liked it a lot!
Roland the host was always there for any questions, gave useful informations and were accommodating.
The room was nice, but i have to admit, i had to get used to the room with no door to the bathroom...not for anyone easy to handle. However the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed.
The breakfast was really awesome! Great buffet with croissants, bread, fruits, cereals, yoghurt, etc. and eggs on top!
Would stay there anytime again.

I would highly recommend Jardin d'ebene for its perfect location, great and warm personal service! All the trendy spots are on a walk distance. At the location itself you can enjoy the sun or a lovely breakfast!

Dear Sarah, sorry for late reply... walking to and from Kloof Street is no problem... Thank you, Roland
If you let us know in advance we will arrange vegan options - fresh fruits are always on the breakfast table...
Dear Cheryl,
our Buffalo Luxury Room has a twin bed facility, all other rooms have double beds - Queen Size Extra Length in our Standard Rooms and King Size Extra Length in the Luxury Rooms. If you want to book please send a mail to us with the booking dates and we make a plan that the Twin Room is available.
We are very centrally located in Cape Town - the city centre is easy reachable by foot, we also arrange tours for you if you do not have an own car. Kirstenbosch Gardens is about a 20 to 30 minutes drive away, but you can reach it for example with the Hop On/Hop Off bus - a very convenient way to explore the city. The Robben Island Ferry is just a 10 minutes drive away - if you want to take a taxi it will cost you approx. 50 - 60 Rand per trip to the V&A Waterfront.
If you want to see the penguin colony it makes sense to combine it with the Tour to the Cape of Good Hope - you could do it on a half day tour, but I always recommend a full day tour, which we also could arrange you. You will be picked up at the guesthouse and when you come back they return you to the guesthouse, or to any other place in the city...
We have plenty of VERY good restaurants within walking distance from our guesthouse (5 to 10 minutes) and it is safe to walk there even at night.
We also have a MyCiti Bus Stop nearby if you want to use public transport to travel in the city.
It's not easy to mention all possibilities you have in a short message - if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Thanks and have a great day,
Roland
