Our family recently spent 6 nights at the Protea North Wharf and our stay could not have been better. Check in was quick and efficient. We had the 3 bedroom penthouse and the room was spotless. Plenty of towels, bath products, pillows, and storage. Front desk staff were very helpful and even loaned us umbrellas. Breakfast was great. Eggs cooked to order with plenty of fresh fruit, sides and croissants. Try the veggie omelet. The spices were fantastic. Great coffees. A special shout-out to the restaurant manager, George. He made our stay special and from the great service we received in the restaurant, it is clear he (and his staff) does his job exceptionally well.
What kind of hotel is so poorly managed that even the most basic continental breakfast for R110/€6 has no orange juice nor orange marmalade? The answer I was given was out of stock! Interestingly around the corner there is food lovers market that have both ! Surely it isn’t beyond the wit of man to go but some in an emergency whilst new supplier is found to get basics like these arranged ? The staff are clueless on a breakfast service
Rooms The rooms are an apartment instead of a hotel room making it less cosy. The room has a kitchen with a microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. The room also has a lounge area and dining room. The interior of the rooms are old fashioned and in need of an upgrade! The sofa couch was really uncomfortable. Location The hotel is close approximately to the V & A Waterfront. The hotel does not offer a shuttle service so you can use Uber. Pool Area The pool is on the roof top of the hotel. The area is small and doesn't offer much shade or space for the guest. Breakfast The breakfast buffet had a nice variety but it lack options as the menu is repeated daily. A great service that is offered to the guest is your breakfast can be brought to your room. *The staff in the restaurant was always really helpful and friendly. Parking Safe and secure parking offered at an additional charge of R50 per night. The hotel lacks an ambience and is not on a Marriott standard. The hotel is highly ranked and priced in peak season which is not best value for money.…
Great stay. Located across from Convention Centre and a walk to the Waterfront. Very comfortable stay with friendly staff. Breakfast is delicious and I had the best croissants. This all suit hot§el is a must if you travel with children. Fridge, dishwasher hob and microwave. And a strong Wi-Fi too Happy Hour had a live Jazz band. What a treat!! I will be back.
We had a wonderful stay at the Protea North Wharf!!! The ENTIRE staff was very helpful and made sure we were comfortable and happy during our stay. We want to name everyone who went above and beyond in providing amazing service...but realize that we’d be naming most of the staff therefore will just say the ENTIRE staff!! The hotel is in a great location...just a short walk from the Waterfront, Bo-Kaap and the City Center. The rooms are large...truly the size of an apartment...with everything you’ll need in the kitchen and with a washer/dryer for your laundry. We highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to stay there again.
This hotel is very clean, quiet and comfortable. Each room is a whole small apartment which worked very well for us. The bedroom had no windows and it was between the bathroom and the living/dining room which made it very quiet. The kitchen was along one of the walls and had a refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven and washer/dryer. The refrigerator and microwave came in very handy because we usually had leftovers from lunch and ate them for dinner at the dinning table. The staff were very courteous and helpful, particularly Tiaan Fourie.
fabulous family weekend get away, nothing was to much for the staff,it felt like the home away from home, all the staff was friendly, accommodating and above all we were treated like royalties,so keep it up and all the best going forward
Very large rooms for a company of 7 family members. The experienced staff made you feel at home as well as safe . .Ilhaam and Mohammed at reception . George at the restaurant and Erasmus the all rounder , a truly great team at this Protea..An enjoyable family week end and value for money.Great wifi at good speeds an added bonus.
The service here was great and the staff was extremely kind and welcoming, they suggested phenomenal places they thought we'd like to see which was helpful for us first timers. They made it a wonderful stay and the one the one that stood out the most was Mohamed he really went out of his way to help and provided such great service.
This hotel doesn't understand what customer service is or valuing your customers. For two days they've been drilling the walls next door to our room from morning until about 16:00, woke my kids up, we can't hear each other talk, it is so awful. The hotel didn't bother to inform is that they will be doing this drilling work. When I complained they told me private residents can do what ever renovations they like during the week. So stuff us ordinary guests who endure this painful noise for almost entire stay! Their attitude is something else. The manager himself was not helpful at all. I asked to be moved to another room, they offered one room exact spot but 2 floors up. That didn't help the excruciating noise. And then we tried to go up to the pool deck to escape the noise and the pool looked like it was last cleaned before level 5 lockdown. The days we chose to stay in were the worst. When you call for housekeeping they tell you they've knocked off, so no service for you. I'll never use this hotel again.…
