I recently stayed at the Spring Tide Inn for 10 days in February 2014. I could not have asked for more. The staff (Jean, Michelle and last but not least Earl and colleagues) were so friendly and extremely helpful. Their good grace and efficiency made my trip a total joy and added to the beauty of Cape Town. There was no problems at all. The room was consistently kept clean and the atmosphere remained warm and friendly (even when I woke up Earl at 3:30am to be let into the premises - sorry for that) The breakfast started every day with a smile and that coupled with the fantastic value made the Spring Tide a real winner. All in all I would give the Spring Tide Inn a perfect 10. I have already recommended them to my sister who will be staying at the end of the year and I will continue to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cape Town. Many thanks to you!! :)

Springtide Inn saved us when a five-star establishment I won't name turned out to be a terrible disappointment.
The decor may not be five-star, though the hotel is comfortable and our room was spotless.
Joe and his team are wonderfully friendly. Breakfast is a social affair, which was a great introduction to Cape Town for us after arriving late in the evening.
Will definitely return. A great hotel at a fantastic price and with three very good restaurants within two blocks and one block from the beach.
If you aren't fussed about modern furnishings and five-star service, this is as good as you'll find in a great area of Cape Town.

We chose to stay at Spring Tide Inn because of all the good reviews we had read from previous guests and this little Guest House did not fail to please. We were warmly welcomed by Earl on our arrival who has a lot of knowledge about Capetown and he kindly booked us a couple of excursions and gave us tips and ideas for our short 5 day stay. The sea-front/promenade is just a minutes walk away and the City Sight-seeing hop-on-hop off bus stop(well worth buying tickets for) is also along this road within a few minutes walking distance. The public buses also run along this stretch so it is easy to get to the V & A waterfront which is about 10 minutes away. A taxi back from the Waterfront in the evening costs about 80 Rands. There are also a selection of restaurants and shops, just a couple of minutes walk in the opposite of direction of the sea-front. Our 1st floor bedroom with a balcony was of a very good size, the bed was comfortable with white and crisp linen and the bedroom and bathroom were serviced every day. Breakfast was ample to start off the day - mini buffet offering cereals, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, breads, small selection of pastries, juice, tea and coffee. Bacon and eggs are also on the menu which were freshly cooked to our liking by Earl or Jamiela (such a sweet lady) - must say the bacon was delicious!!

To sum up our stay - Great location, wonderful and caring staff and good value for money for this homely place.

Thanks again to Earl and Jamiela for making us so welcome. We will back again for sure.

Booked at Spring Tide for 9 nights. Worst experience ever. Arrived to blood-stained sheets, with a duvet thats smaller than the bed size. Secondly the hygiene standards are non existent! They change towels every 3 days, and dont change linen AT ALL! 8 nights of the same linen at 32degrees celcius us disgusting. They charge an additional R450 if you want clean sheets. Would not recommend this place for a stay of more than 1 night!

We stayed there in november 2013 for 3 nights. The first morning the owner came to ask if we knew about the key of the save in the room. We thought it's a good idea not to take all the money with us, so we put it in the save (after counting the amount), the evening when we came back after a long day off, we counted the money and yes, there was money left. It was rather as if we schould'n have remarked it, my friend missed 200 R and I missed 540 R ; The police took note, but we know who 's the thief, that was clear.
I think a lot of people will even not know there is money left.

Response from Spring Tide Inn T, General Manager at Spring Tide Inn
Responded 16 Mar 2014
Dear Miss Marleen Mampaert Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We truly value the opinions of our customers and we apologize that you feel that we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us. It has taken a little time to respond to you as this matter was still under investigation and we wanted to ensure that all of the facts were established before responding. We would like to assure you that the loss of your belongings as well as your travelling companions is taken extremely seriously by Spring Tide Inn. We have been working with the police investigation over this matter since it was originally reported to us. Firstly I would like to clarify that the person you believed to be the owner is actually an employee. Their duty is to check in guests and to show how the keys work and provide other general guest house information. None of our employees have access to other safe keys for any of the rooms. We have never had such an incident occur at the guest house before. We understand that the incident occurred on Sunday according to your statement, and it was reported to the management on Tuesday morning when you were due to depart. Following questioning of all staff and a full police investigation there was no evidence of theft by any employee at the guesthouse. We are not sure what the truth to be but one other explanation is that this could have been a simple misunderstanding between guests sharing the room. We understand that this incident has not been a pleasant experience for you and we do not wish to further exacerbate this but should you return to Cape Town we would love to have the opportunity to speak with you again to deal with your concerns directly. We hope to see you again in the future and wish you all the very best.

This is a lovely Bnb one block from the beach and just off the street with everything you need in walking distance. I can't say enough ab Earl, Joan and Shamemlia, they made us feel so at home and welcome! I made a few mistakes with my dates, and Earl didn't bat an eyelash, he just changed my reservation with no penalties. Lovely, honest, welcoming, safe and convenient for travellers without a car :) The red and blue busses stop just down the seaside to take you anywhere you wish. Great value for the money, great breakfast!

Wow, what an experience, this little B&B is and amazing wonderful place to stay, it is like a home away from home, the staff are all super friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and clean, and it is located in a quiet area, but most importantly close to everything, camps bay is just over the hill, V&A a short drive away, table mountain carriage way close by, everything we needed and more, we would definitely stay there again , and I recommend this to everyone? a must stay
big ups to, Michelle, Jean, Melvin.

Stayed 6 nights in room 7-with king bed and balcony.Hotel was very clean, bed comfortable and shower good.Balcony was pleasant in the evenings but a bit hot during the afternoon,as only a part sunshade was available. A full sunshade would be good. Breakfast was excellent and staff exceptionally friendly and helpful.Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.Sea Point is an interesting area-plenty of super restaurants to walk to and promenade only 100m away.
