My stay at Daddy Long Legs (DDL) was everything that I expected & more. For the affordability of the accommodation you are given a great deal on a place that is nice and central in Cape Town CBD (a 30 minute walk to Greenpoint Stadium) & gives you the full experience of engrossing yourself in the vibrant day and night life of Long Street in Cape Town.

DDL is not without its faults, but hey nothing is perfect and the small inconveniences are a minor hitch in what was a massively positive stay for my trip down to Cape Town.

In the interest of fairness I will give an honest review. The "free breakfast" that is offered is nothing more than some bowls of cereal put out every morning with little yogurt cups from the store, some tea and coffee and some store bought muffins. Nothing to write home - that being said, for the affordability of the stay, it is a sufficient breakfast to fill the gap if you are in a rush.

The room and facilities are spacious, have a great view of the city and the beautiful Cape Town scenery from the 2nd and 3rd floors and the rooms are air-conditioned which help for those hot South African summer days. The facilities and rooms are a little rustic, but they are neat and tidy and generally clean.

The free wifi is a nice touch and the complimentary welcome drink is a great way to settle in to your stay. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend DLL if you want a cost-effective, comfortable and authentic Cape Town experience on your next trip!

We have a joke in our household that I only buy things with Hyperli vouchers or on discount/promo so with our 10 year anniversary I decided to do just that. We landed up going on the Mirage Catamaran (half-price Thursday - R155 per person) then on to dinner at Cowboys and Cooks (R349 for a three course for two people and happy hour from 5 to 7 on selected drinks), staying over at Daddy Long Legs for R499 for the night and breakfast the next morning at The Canal Café (R125 for hot breakfast including coffee for two people.) And did I mention that I got another 15% discount with a promo code? It was a wonderful night on the town and Daddy Long Legs Art Hotel a real pleasure - will do it again.

I traveled to Capetown recently both solo and with a group of friends. Daddy Long Legs was the perfect homebase for about a month of travel. I stayed with them for the entire last week of my trip. Rodney and the entire staff was so helpful and a pleasure to be with. They were responsive and a great source of information about the city. They helped book cars and tours. Long Street is busy with bars and socializing, but the rooms I stayed in were very quiet and the beds very comfortable. The hotel is an easy walk to most locations, V&A waterfront, MOCAA, and more. As a gay traveler, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The entire experience was wonderful.

I had such a lovely stay in this beautiful hotel! Second time here actually - the first time I stayed in one of the self-catering apartments which was beautiful and very well located.

This time I stayed in one of the Art Rooms in the hotel (not too far a walk from the apartments) and was floored by how professional and friendly the staff were, as well as how creative and fun the room I stayed in was (The Protea Room). The front desk was alls smiles and helpful advice, and the room was cleaned well everyday and always well stocked. I had a few questions about the local area and some sight seeing suggestions and they were only too happy to assist and gave some really decent advice.

10/10 would always come stay here on a trip to Cape Town!

My wife and I enjoyed The Daddy Long Legs Hotel ( what a name and it speaks to the cool vibe the place has).
I would recommend the hotel for a number of reasons.
1. Manie and his staff were extremely welcoming and very interested in making us comfortable, me in particular. I suffered with very sore and achy feet while I was visiting South Africa . As my wife went off to every possible walking tour , I stayed fairly close to Long Legs. I was set up with a Black Label or a Savannah Cider in the lounge area to watch the women’s World Cup and other interesting programs. The balcony was also nice to relax.
2. Our room which was called The Open Room was very comfortable and quiet. It was on the top floor not facing busy Long Street. I loved the room and the Queen sized bed.
3.The location is quite convenient to many places of interest like St. George’s Cathedral ( Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s ), Company’s Garden, The Parliament Building. We enjoyed breakfast several times at The Ladder and Gingers cafe just a few blacks away.
The staff are a relatively small group and I really enjoyed their kindness and good company when I was hanging out.
Great fun at a very reasonable price.

A pleasant stay and value for the price. Smell of cigarette smoke within building is a little off putting. Seating within the room could also do with a bit of a revamp.

Hotel is well situated and within very easy access of the myciti bus network.

Arriving at the hotel was pleasant and reception was warm and friendly. The hotel is pretty cool and love the concept however it needs some upgrading though. I completely understand that Long Street is a very busy street and even more so at night and i was prepared for outside noise. But the noise inside the hotel was horrendous!! We had no sleep at all. Doors banging, people shouting and sounded like they were playing soccer or basketball also at the top of their voices and the constant pounding. Once that subsided... Someone started beating a guy up and had to lay and listen to this guy scream and cry that felt like it went on for ever until i heard someone intervene. My husband and I packed our things and walked out 2:30am that morning and drove home. No sleep and very unsafe. I Don't recommend at all.

We stayed the 'Do not Disturb' Room.

The overall experience was amazing and the stay was so much fun. My boyfriend and I had the most wonderful time at the hotel.

I would just like to point out that the room was not quite as displayed in the pictures. It did not have the equipment for the karaoke such as the mics and screen to sing along which was the main reason for taking that specific room.

Nevertheless, we had an amazing time and will definitely book for one of the other art rooms, the 'Emergency Room' to be exact.

We stayed in the emergency room.
The host was very welcoming and the service and responsiveness is great. It’s in the center of Long street so location is very good.
The bed is really uncomfortable for me. I could feel the springs of the mattress.
We only got one towel as they had no spare towels. There was also only 1x half toilet roll so we ran out of toilet paper during the night. I’d recommend it for people to try something different but I won’t go back for a stay.

Hello, I would like to know if there is undercover parking / secure parking available?
Answer from Manie786
Cape Town Central, South Africa
Dear Kidhar I trust that you're very well. We don't have off street parking at the hotel but we can advise you of nearby places that do let out their off street/secure parking. FYI - most of our guest park in the street and they never had any problems. This can all be arranged on check-in. Should you have any further queries then please feel free to contact us. Kind regards Manie and the happy team :-)
