Over the years, this classic Cape Town bed & breakfast has earned an enviable reputation for relaxed and genuine hospitality. Originally a Victorian gentleman's house, Liberty Lodge became a fabric emporium and even a bordello in the 1940s! Today, it combines a skillful mix of Victorian, Art Deco and contemporary decor, with some stunning feature pieces. Perfectly situated to make the most of your Cape Town holiday or business trip, Liberty Lodge sits on the lower slopes between Table Mountain cable car station and Cape Town CBD. Restaurants and cafes abound in trendy Tamboerskloof and tourist sights are in close proximity. The four uniquely decorated rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and heaters, an electronic wall safe, hairdryer, a range of toiletries and most importantly comfortable beds! Complimentary wi-fi and safe on street parking is available. A hearty hot and cold breakfast is served every morning to set you up for the day either inside or outside in the charming ground-floor greenery courtyard. This homely Tamboerskloof Bed and Breakfast provides your respite from a busy day and is run by owner, Ruth Parsons, who extends a warm, personal welcome. Liberty Lodge appeals to young and old, singles and couples, on holiday or working, all of whom know that convivial surroundings and a comfortable bed waits. No Children under 12 allowed!!

I am very dissapointed in this establishment. I arrived within the check-in time and nobody to assist me. I initially was going to arrive later but decided on an early arrival since I didn't want to inconvenience the establishment by a late arrival. I had to phone to be allowed inside Entering the property was also a challenge and once inside I couldn't leave the property, the gate wouldn't open. I did not feel to phone everytime I need anything, If somebody received me when I arrived all the challenges would have been sorted and I could have asked all the questions. Even if they arrived later to check on me I would have been happy I had to call for the WiFi password, a proper establishment would have had all rules and regulations typed out and placed strategicall in the room The coffee making station is outside the room in a common area.which is an inconvenience to guests who wants an early morning coffee. The establishment only has 4 rooms, it should not be difficult nor expensive to have a kettle with tea, coffee and milk in each room No milk for the coffee, even though I asked twice for it. I am generally very happy with where I stay but this unfortunately did not meet my expectations 9

I’m not sure how this establishment got a 3 star rating. Cockroach in our room, late breakfast on day 2 of our stay and a packed breakfast was promised for the day of our departure but not delivered. Our host welcomed us on our arrival in her PJs.

Room Tip: Parking is on the street. Street is busy. We landed up parking across the road in another street...

I will advice all Belgian traveller's, friends in Johannesburg and others not to come to this Guesthouse. First of all, the rate they charge you for the service quality is really the worst I haven't seen. The window that doesn't close and lets the cold in, the torn headboards, the fleas in the mattresses, the noise... All this for 1650 zar per night. Moreover, they don't want to reimburse the nights I won't spend because, for private reasons, I have to return to Joha. And I showed the proves... They are real thieves. BOOK a superior hotel or an Airbnb for the same price, you will be much better off.

It was my first visit to Cape Town to attend the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. Nomhle was like a sister who especially prepared a meal for me to have at 4am before my race. Aunty Lisa was like a mother who gave me special attention, making me feel so at home away from home , prepared the most delicious breakfast options which filled me up all day & making wonderful recommendations of places to visit. I appreciated the lemon and honey tea I requested in the evenings to soothe me from different weather changes of the day. The lodge is close by to many tourist attractions which made it easier to find my way around the city for a lady traveling alone. Thank you so much Nomhle & Lisa. I wish to visit again with my family. Keep up the excellent service. God's greatest blessing upon you.

We stayed here for our first 2 nights in South Africa on a trip organised by Audley Travel. This little guest house is very quaint, a little tired, but the friendly service and advice given by its two hosts was brilliant. There are many eating and drinking places within 5 minutes walk down hill, but we ate in a fantastic restaurant, Willoughby’s in the V&A Waterfront. Taxis through Uber or Bolt are really cheap, so getting around is easy…the Hop on and off Red bus is a must! The queues at the Cable car were ridiculously long, so much so we got back on the bus and gave it a miss! Would we go back again to Liberty Lodge, yes we would if visiting Cape Town again!

We asked the lodge to pick us up from the airport, and we arrived to meet Ruth, who showed us to our room. Everything was quite clean, the shower was great, and the breakfast always included eggs made to suit, including omelets. Ruth was very helpful in helping us map out our stay with tours and other places. There's quite a bit to see, and Ruth either helped us with the tour or we used Uber or Bolt as drive services. The lodge was near enough to walk to restaurants for dinner. We were quite comfortable throughout our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Liberty Lodge earlier this year. A small guest house, it is situated just off Kloof Street, so plenty of bars and restaurants are within easy (and safe) walking distance. We stayed in a terrace room, which had AMAZING views of table mountain. As others have said, it really is Ruth's natural charm and hospitality that makes a stay here so enjoyable - definitely worth a look if you are looking for somewhere low key and affordable to stay in Cape Town!

We had a wonderful stay at Liberty Lodge! Ruth greets every guest like family and works so hard to make sure you enjoy every moment of your stay in Cape Town. Lisa and Tandy took wonderful care of us and provided a delicious breakfast each day - I miss the eggs and coffee! The Lodge is in a great location - short walk to great restaurants and shopping on Kloof Street, all very affordable as well. Rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. I really enjoyed the group breakfast outside each morning and getting to know our fellow travelers. Highly recommend Liberty Lodge for your Cape Town travels!

We had a great stay at Liberty Lodge ! We enjoyed the big room with a view on the mountains, where you could see the sun rise if you woke up early enough. No noise from the streets at all. The bed is a cloud !! So so confortable and the bathroom amenities were great. The lodge is ideally located near busy streets - Ruth, our host, was very kind and had great tips on how to get around and what to do in the Cape. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast made by the team. Overall a great stay! Thanks, Elisabeth
