Just below average. Basically, ‘Ashanti Gardens Guesthouse’ is a backpackers with an option of guest house rooms but without disclosing it that it is offered in such a fashion. Is an air conditioner required at this rate per evening: No But At this price it cannot be accepted that the ceiling fan and room doors make constant disruptive noises . The place is tidy but overpriced compared to the quality of the other places in the area. Ashanti has existed since I have known Cape Town but will need to keep with the quality offered in the city.

Thank you for your constructive criticism. Yes, the Ashanti Guest Houses were borne out of the need to offer en-suite rooms for our guests, but this is clearly indicated on our website. As of May this year our Guest Houses will be stand alone so reception and breakfast will be at the guest houses and we are making them beautiful! Regards, Lisa

Im in Cape Town often on business and needed a place close to our head office. This guesthouse was perfectly situated. Large comfortable room with warm wooden floors in a stunning house. Its close to everything there is to do in the city and the VnA Waterfront. The friendly staff at Ashanti will see me again!

Excellent service, clean and neat. Conveniently situated, close to restaurants, shops, petrol filling stations and tourist attractions. Security excellent. Visited Cape Town in October to cycle the Cape Town cycle tour.

If you are just looking for a place to purely sleep and use as your base for exploring Cape Town Central then this place is ideal. The guesthouse itself doesn't really offer any extraordinary views although a short walk down the road and you can see the mountain. The house itself is well maintained and outfitted. Each bedroom has its own on suite bathroom with huge showers. The kitchen is really basic so not ideal for cooking meals. The high walls and bars on all the windows did however make me feel like I wasn't really safe although we probably were.

Hi MarkZA79 Thank you for your review, all feedback is greatly appreciated. We are sorry that you might have felt a bit unsafe but please know that there is nothing to worry about. Ashanti has the same security and preventative measures as the rest of South Africa, this is just an unfortunate precaution that we have to take. Kind regards, Jason

The Ashanti Gardens Guest House is close to Kloof Street. It is a very nice place to stay in the City Center. It serves in the Ashanti Backpackers a good breakfast (200m away). The Wifi is very fast and reliable. Very clean and comfy.

I was first booked for a private room at the guest house and had to ask and change after the first night because it doesn't feel safe (I was all alone at the house). It was not a positive experience at all, so maybe Ashanti could consider a small reception/support service there. After changing rooms (to the lodge) everything went just fine.

Hello Yonara Thank you for your review. Yes, our guest houses are seperate from the main backpackers lodge on purpose. That way, it is quiet and those booking en-suite rooms can have peace and quiet and sleep well at night. It is just unfortunate that on the night you were there, there were no other guests in the house. With only 6 rooms there, it is not financially viable to have someone there all the time although the houses do have housekeeping staff there during the day. There is also a direct telephone line from each room to our receptionists and we provide security at night to walk over, should it be required. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at Ashanti Lodge Gardens though :-) Regards Lisa

Room #2 is clean, has a ceiling fan, door and courtyard to room #5 where 4 of our young adult students stayed. We all loved the conscience and accessibility to each other. The breakfast was excellent and made for a great start to our day. We slept well, were safe and had a kitchenette for our wine and snacks. Loved the access to restaurants and main Capetown.
