Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for the last three nights of our honeymoon in South Africa and were very impressed. It’s a lovely boutique hotel with beautiful rooms and great service. When we arrived we were greeted with a drink and they had also taken the time to make us dinner reservations as we were in Cape Town over a weekend in peak time - very nice touch. They also made a fuss of us with it being our honeymoon, which we really appreciated.
It has a very relaxed, grown up vibe and breakfast was lovely; no buffet but a great menu of cooked and cold dishes with all that we tried being delicious! It’s a short drive from the main tourist hub so you have to take Ubers but we actually liked being able to come back to the peace and quiet. It’s also very close to Table Mountain. One tiny nitpick is that we felt the pool could have been a little cleaner, but this did not detract from our sheer enjoyment of our stay. Thank you KP!

We stayed at Kensington Place for 4 nights at the start of our honeymoon. It was amazing and totally exceeded our expectations! The staff are all lovely and so thoughtful! They provided so many extra touches - welcome champagne on arrival, some lovely champagne for our room and they even arranged a gin tasting for us. It was wonderful!
Breakfast was delicious and the best we had in South Africa. The rooms are lush, with the comfiest beds ever - and it’s a great, safe location. I was worried about safety in Cape Town but felt safe here - we took Ubers when going out at nighttime which was really easy to arrange.
We would like to return!

Kensington Place was one of the best hotel experiences my husband and I have ever had. The room was beautiful with two balcony's and heated floors (which I loved!). The service was more than we could even imagine. We arrived when SA has just moved to Covid Alert Level 3, so restaurants were closing and the night manager before checking us in ordered us food after a long day of travel to make sure we wouldn't go hungry. The next morning, Hope at the front desk went above and beyond to help us coordinate a guided tour down to Cape of Good Hope, book lunch at La Colombe (amazing restaurant, highly recommend this too) and arrange when to climb Table Mountain. Julie Ann was just as helpful as and let us store our luggage for the day since we had an evening flight when we were departing South Africa.
Due to Covid the kitchen was only open for breakfast, and it was a lovely breakfast with fresh pressed juice, lattes & a large variety of plates to chose from.
Location was central to everything, very easy to walk to Kloof St, and less than 10 minute drive to anywhere else we needed to go. The neighborhood was beautiful and we felt safe walking around.
10/10 would recommend Kensington Place and will absolutely stay here again next time we're back in Cape Town.

We had an amazing 4 night stay at Kensington Place during our honeymoon. This hotel was stylish and pristine and the staff clearly paid attention to detail here. We loved that it was in a quieter location and had beautiful views, but it was just a short walk away to some amazing restaurants on Kloof Street or a short Uber ride further into the city. All of the staff were welcoming and so helpful in making recommendations so we could best enjoy our stay in Cape Town. They even surprised us with a bottle of sparkling wine and rose pedals in our room one night to help celebrate our honeymoon. The breakfasts in the morning were also really wonderful. We would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Cape Town!

This small hotel was great to stay in for our time in Cape Town. Our room was stunning with 2 balconies one looking towards table mountain and other over Cape Town. It even had a yoga mat. The staff were immensely helpful arranging restaurant reservations and providing useful information. The hotel is a short stroll from
kloof st with restaurants shops and bars. The hotel has a superb lounge and lots of private areas to sit outside as well as a pool. Ubers are a cheap and efficient way of getting around. Nearly forget the breakfast is delicious.

Stayed two nights prior to safari in Botswana. Staff was very welcoming with a bottle of wine in our room and recommendations for dinner during our stay. Rooms were very comfortable and security made you feel safe at all times. There are a couple restaurants/bars just down the hill within walking distance and Uber is readily available if you prefer dining in the city/harbor area. Breakfast started at 7:00am with made to order meals and was a great way to start the day. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed at Kensington Place for four nights and instantly felt that is was the perfect choice for us.
The people of Kensington Place made it a special experience for us. They all are exceedingly friendly, helpful and more than happy to help you with any aspect of your stay, from sightseeing planning to dinner reservations. It‘s a very personal yet unobtrusive service.
Each part of this boutique hotel is tastefully decorated and very well looked after.
Our room was very nice, with a nice balcony and it had everything we needed.
As in most places we stayed during our stay, the curtains still let in a lot of light in the morning so make sure to pack your sleeping mask.
The location in the calmer residential area close to Table Mountain is great. During the day, you can easily walk down to Kloof Street and reach Long as well as Bree Street. Uber accessibility is very good and you can reach Table Mountain in a few mountains.

We stayed here on the last two nights of our honeymoon and it was the perfect end to a blissful trip. We were greeted with a glass of champagne before being shown to our room, where there was more champagne for us to enjoy on the balcony with views of Table Mountain. The hotel is in a quiet leafy part of CT within a few mins walking distance of some lovely restaurants and bars. The interior is exquisitely decorated, resembling a gallery, and the rooms beautifully appointed. The staff were warm and friendly, and made us feel so special we didn't want to leave. We had to check out very early for our flight and the staff prepared a lovely breakfast for us to take away. We can't recommend this place highly enough and would love to return.

+1
We recently stayed for three nights at Kensington Place at the start of our South Africa holiday to celebrate a big birthday and wedding anniversary.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It’s a small, boutique hotel in a fabulous location with great views of Table Mountain and the Lion’s Head from our room (Room 1) and it’s an easy and pleasant walk down to Kloof for restaurants, bars and local coffee shops.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of imaginative choices on the menu. The homemade granola is superb!
We were very well looked after by Gillian and the team, they certainly understand great service here. We highly recommend.

Thank you to everyone that assisted in answering this question. Some of the rooms have partial views of the mountain and the city from the balconies only. As our hotel is situated at the base of Table Mountain and faces away from it, none of our rooms have full views of the city or the mountain. In order for us to accommodate all reservations, we are unable to grantee certainly room requests but we will try our utmost to match your requirements. Warm regards, the Kensington Place team
