Stayed at the Commodore for 3 nights while in Cape Town. It is a lovely traditional hotel and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is superb, being only a few minutes walk from the Waterfront. The room was very well appointed and spacious. The only negative was that we were a corner room and neighbouring rooms had clear views into our room so not too private. We had a basic room so no balcony, nor no view of the mountain, only the pool area. We only had breakfast each day and a light lunch on our last day, all of which were excellent. Great location for tourists exploring the city.
Brilliant from start to finish. After an 11 hour overnight flight we were welcomed at reception like old friends. Extremely pleasant and professional and this service theme continued throughout our entire stay. Room was fantastic. We were on the 5th floor which amazing views of Table Mountain, Lions Head and the V&A Waterfront. Room was large and modern and extremely comfortable. Location is perfect for exploring all of Cape Town. The V&A Waterfront is 5 minutes walk away. It was my 30th Birthday during our stay and the staff decorated our room and furnished us with a bottle of champagne and cake. Couldn’t recommend any more.
We stayed for 5 nights with our baby. The staff were absolutely amazing. Particularly the waitresses in the dining room; Shirly and Sasha in particular but every one was brilliant. My daughter is only 10months old and the staff were so good with her, by the end she was wearing a name badge! She would get so excited every morning at breakfast as they took time out to chat with her! Reception staff were also very helpful, and facilitated a room swop so we could have a view of table mountain, they really bent over backwards to help with any request. Would love to return again!
My husband and I stayed here for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon and it was fantastic! Upon arrival we were informed of a complimentary room upgrade to help us celebrate and then inside our room was a lovely rose petal display and welcome champagne. The staff was so friendly throughout our stay and we enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant each morning. This was our first time in Cape Town and we loved staying by the waterfront. It was easy to walk everywhere and there were plenty of restaurants for us to enjoy for dinner each night.
I strongly recommended it. nice room, nice place. great personnel as well. very cosy place. I was mining in indaba. my first experience in Cape Town and this place make me love Cape Town. But I did not test the food. we went outside
A lovely place to stay which is ideally located to walk to The Waterfront with its excellent restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely with a really comfortable bed. Food was nice with plenty of choice at breakfast. Definitely worth the money and a pleasure to have stayed there
As an elderly pensioner travelling alone u need a hotel that goes that extra mile - The Commodore ticked all the boxes - the reception staff especially Paige were so helpful and nothing fased them - the bedrooms were so spacious with many drawers even in the bathroom which had a walk in shower and bath - I was on the executive floor and the view was lovely- the breakfast buffet was very good with a good variety to suit everyone - again the staff serving were so lovely and always greeted u with a smile - the bar and lounge were spacious - the outside area was lovely with sun beds around a small pool and a patio area if u wished to eat outside- it took about 6 minutes to walk to the V & A so very easy - Also the hotel had three large lifts so no Waiting All in all a great hotel which I shall certainly use on my next visit to Cape Town…
My husband and I went for a couples massage at The Commodore hotel for my birthday. We arrived at the front desk and was rudely greeted by a man that looked like the security guard who had earphones in his ears and proceeded to take us through. He took us straight into the massage room and left. We stood there not knowing what to do. Usually you are collected by the therapists with water. When we walked out asking what is going on, we were ushered back I to the room and told to lie down. Only then asking if we wanted water? Isn't it supposed to be a welcome drink? Then both therapists just dumped the scrub on our backs and mindlessly rubbed it in circles which felt like 10min which was very annoying and uncomfortable. Then they proceeded to dump an ice could mask on our warm backs and felt like they were going for another 10min doing that. At that point I was really annoyed and asked when the massage was going to happen. She replied she has already started. The massage was just as sad as the entire experience. She tapped my feet and felt like she didn't do any effort whatsoever. She pushed her body against my arms most of the time. The other therapist didn't stop sighing the entire time. They even stopped at a point to talk to each other, TWICE! Then when they removed the masks from our backs the thre the wash cloth around, rubbed up mask and placed it cold onto our backs again. It was SO BAD! I would not recommend anyone to pursue a treatment at Casurina spas. We were let out and half arsed greeted by the same man as before. If ypu are thinking of going due to a deal...rather pay more somewhere else and have it count.…
The staff were lovely and we were treated to a complimentary bottle of wine for our honeymoon. The staff were very keen to help us organise our excursions. The hotel is very located very well beside the waterfront. The only downside is the swimming pool was in the shade throughout the day.
Our room was excellent, clean and nicely appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Location near the waterfront was excellent as well, allowing for easy access to many venues and the Hop On/Hop Off bus, which got us around the rest of the city.
