This hotel is great value for central Cape Town. The public rooms had been updated our room had not. However it was clean the water was hot and we had a fabulous view. I think renovation is on the cards for the rooms. Breakfast was good a huge Buffett crepes and omelettes where made to order by a very friendly Yvette. Parking was free on site. The V&A was walkable but the hotel provide a shuttle service last return trip 10.15pm. No complaints

We were booked into this hotel by our travel agent via Bedsonline and were not informed that it was a Muslim hotel and therefore alcohol free. The hotel was fine, and the staff very friendly and helpful, but it was exceedingly quiet.
Part of our holiday is sitting in the hotel bar with a glass of wine, and chatting to other guests. This obviously did not happen as there was no bar. The hotel was so quiet the restaurant looked closed, so we went out looking for something to eat. Couldn't find anyting except fast food places, so returned to the Hotel to ask the staff where we could find dinner. They said, in their restaurant! There were only two other people dining, so it was very quiet, but we decided to eat there - and were very pleased we did! I had a chicken and prawn curry which was absolutely delilcious! In fact I would go so far to say it was the best I have ever eaten! (And I have eaten quite a few in my lifetime!) This hotel can be recommended for its Chef, and its staff, and for people who are teetotal or of the Muslim faith. Not for people who like to have an alcoholic drink in the evenings.

Definitely not up to standard for a 4 star hotel. Extremely small room, not very clean, I saw 2 cockroaches, bad shower. Just a very cheap feel overall.

Bed was comfortable but the pillows were terrible. I found hairs in the bathroom and on the headboard which were missed by the cleaning staff.

Room and bathroom smelled musty

Scuffed door and broken/old fittings.

Impractical power points

Terrible tv. In this day and age there is no need for lack of choice or fuzzy picture.

Breakfast was adequate and the food was quite nice, but again not up to standards for a 4 star hotel. Restaurant staff were pleasant but need training, wait staff came to clear plates before we had even finished eating.

Front of house staff were hit and miss. The staff who checked us in were okay, not terribly friendly or helpful at all. The night shift staff were great. An older man and woman were both very friendly and helpful

Overall an extremely disappointing stay when one is expecting 4 star comfort and style. And of course when paying 4 star prices

If you are traveling to the beautiful city of Cape Town I highly suggest staying somewhere else. This hotel is old & tired. Their website indicates there are ‘modern touches’. Trust me, there are none. The rooms are old & the carpet in the room is stained & dirty. The air conditioning doesn’t work very well at all. It is a pretty high step up into the shower & there are no grab bars to hang onto. There is a clear barricade in the shower which is supposed to keep in the water. The first indication that it doesn’t work will be the fact that there is a cup in the corner to catch the water dripping out of the side. When you finish your shower the bathroom will look like you showered on the bathroom floor. They give you a tube of shower gel in the bathroom, which would be nice if only there were washcloths to use it with. For two people they give you two skinny bath towels & two skinny hand towels. The beds are not very comfortable & the bedsheet that you use to cover yourself doesn’t come up further than mid chest height. The only positives about this place is that the staff is nice & the morning breakfast chef makes a decent omelette. Right after you check in you are greeted in the elevator with the not very friendly strictly halal sign pictured below. Yes, you can walk to the V & A waterfront however if that is where you are going there are much nicer & closer places to stay. Thankfully we were only staying here for a couple of days before we got on our cruise ship because if I had been booked here for an entire vacation I would have been miserable. Cape Town is too wonderful a place to stay in a hotel that does not live up to the beauty of the city.

Unfortunately, the agency did book this room type but I hope in future we can honour you with a refurbished room. In respect to the sign, it is unfortunately an necessary evil, over the past few month many guests have complained about the continuous smoking of marijuana in the rooms and as much as we wished not to place the sign the continuous removal of these guests and fines allocated to them has created an unsavory experience for our other guests. Went for iftaar dinner on 10 April 2022. Started out when they gave our table to the wrong people and we ended up waiting for the staff to get a new table for us. They put five dates and brought a plate of burnt disgusting samosas to break fast with. The food on the buffet was terrible, made with cheap ingredients, they couldnt even bother to add a bit of parsley for garnish.

The prayer facilities was good, spacious and clean however the service from the dining room staff was terrible. The waitress was complaing with us because we took a jug of water to break our fast with and when we asked for spoons to eat the soup with.. She brought it in her hands and they were dirty, absolutely disgusting! We asked for butter once again brought in her hands.

We finished a plate of food each paid R175 per person what a rip off! When we complained to the manager, she told us "shame"

The restaurant has such potential, poor management, poor food from the chefs and cheap ingredients let this place down. Definitely won't be back there.

The location of hotel is very very good as it lies very close to V&A waterfront and Parliament Street. You will find bars, restaurants nearby. However, despite being a very very old hotel, the service of the hotel sucks badly. You will have to wait for close to 30 minutes for simple things. The room allotted to me was also very poor. Being a room for 2 people, the room had queen size bed not very comfortable for 2 people. One can also look for other hotels in the area

This hotel is certainly not 4 star as advertised. The rooms are definitely not what you see in the pictures on the website. Booked a family suite & asked to be checked in early. Was told it is being cleaned. When we eventually checked in, while the 1 room was fairly clean, the 2nd room was terrible: dirty, stained carpets, filthy curtains, filthy balcony, dirty windows & sliding doors with visible dirt clumps on the carpet near the sliding door. Shakeel at reception was nice enough to allow us to look at 2 other family suites before we took the lesser of the terrible ones. At least it was clean. This hotel does not have the features of a 4 star hotel: no slippers or gown in rooms, no spa, the decor was old, tired & more a lower 3 star quality than 4 star, brown dirty water coming out of second bathroom tap in bath, shower that did not work. Need to pay R150 deposit for a 2 pin adapter. Phones didn't work so had to continously go down to reception to request items. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine. Location opposite CTICC but nothing else is around to visit. Need a car to get out. No shuttles to waterfront. Very disappointed in this hotel.

Dirty rooms, broken lights, solids floating in the kettle - hideous hygiene. Pillows lumpy and worn out. Breakfast was slow and equipment grimy. Service lift had old food on floor and non- carpeted floors are greasy. Location to conference center is convenient and within walking distance. Surrounding area and entrance is filthy. Nothing good can be said about this hotel - avoid at all cost!!
