If you are traveling to the beautiful city of Cape Town I highly suggest staying somewhere else. This hotel is old & tired. Their website indicates there are ‘modern touches’. Trust me, there are none. The rooms are old & the carpet in the room is stained & dirty. The air conditioning doesn’t work very well at all. It is a pretty high step up into the shower & there are no grab bars to hang onto. There is a clear barricade in the shower which is supposed to keep in the water. The first indication that it doesn’t work will be the fact that there is a cup in the corner to catch the water dripping out of the side. When you finish your shower the bathroom will look like you showered on the bathroom floor. They give you a tube of shower gel in the bathroom, which would be nice if only there were washcloths to use it with. For two people they give you two skinny bath towels & two skinny hand towels. The beds are not very comfortable & the bedsheet that you use to cover yourself doesn’t come up further than mid chest height. The only positives about this place is that the staff is nice & the morning breakfast chef makes a decent omelette. Right after you check in you are greeted in the elevator with the not very friendly strictly halal sign pictured below. Yes, you can walk to the V & A waterfront however if that is where you are going there are much nicer & closer places to stay. Thankfully we were only staying here for a couple of days before we got on our cruise ship because if I had been booked here for an entire vacation I would have been miserable. Cape Town is too wonderful a place to stay in a hotel that does not live up to the beauty of the city.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for your review, all negative and or positive comments aids the hotel in its continuous strive to improve on services and standards. We will always continuously strive to improve of our standards and services and in that we take note that we have not achieved this during your stay. We are striving in accomplishing our renovation by 2024 in having two more additional floors renovated and in that we are excited that we are returned the 4th floor. We trust in enhancing on our rooms that all guests will have the opportunity of enjoying fresh, new facilities and amenities but with the heritage and culture of the Capetonian. Unfortunately, the agency did book this room type but I hope in future we can honour you with a refurbished room. In respect to the sign, it is unfortunately an necessary evil, over the past few month many guests have complained about the continuous smoking of marijuana in the rooms and as much as we wished not to place the sign the continuous removal of these guests and fines allocated to them has created an unsavory experience for our other guests. Please do feel free to contact me directly when next booking in Cape Town and or at the Capetonian as to manage accordingly. Kind Regards, Lex Fordyce General Manager Manager@capetonian.co.za

The Capetonian hotel was phenomenal! The staff were absolutely friendly and worked hard to accommodate any of our requests. They also went over board and kept our goods in their freezer. Rooms were absolutely clean and comfortable. House keeping ensured that it stayed that way daily and were friendly. The breakfast was fully halaal and staff were incredible. The chef comes out to greet you and walk you through the menu and staff make sure all your needs are taken care of. The location is pretty central, 2 min drive to the VNA waterfront. Used the gym daily. Had basic equipment but enough for a good workout. Overall, an amazing 11/10 hotel
