My husband and I stayed here on New Years Eve and through the first few days of January. This is a very cute hotel and has an excellent value! The location is great! It is across the street from the park, walking distance to Kloof Street with lots of restaurants and shops and walking distance to Long Street where the Red bus tour ticket office is. There is also a red bus stop right outside the hotel which you can catch and then hop on and off at other stops to switch lines. We were also close to the Mount Nelson Hotel where we walked to for High Tea (also highly recommend!) Our room itself was good. The bedroom could use some upgrades but it had everything we needed and had a fantastic view outside the beautiful old windows. The bathroom was quite small and the water temperature in the shower was quite tricky. The service was excellent! We asked them if there was an atm in the hotel and there was not. We had to walk one block to the nearest ATM but they would not let us go alone for safety as tourists are targets for theft. They sent an attendant and the hotel Chef with us to walk to the ATM and back. It really made us feel safe and we appreciated the gesture. If you feel you need extra security, just ask the front desk and they will send someone with you to the ATM. Also, we rented a car on our last day for the next part of the trip, and there is a public parking garage across the street that you can use to safely park your car overnight. Overall this isn't the fanciest place, but it is an excellent value for your money and excellent location!…
We loved our 3 night stay in Cape Town Hollow. We stayed in a mountain view room which was very comfortable. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel, where we enjoyed excellent breakfasts and an evening meal (delicious sweet potato soup). The hotel is next to Company Gardens, which are well worth a visit, and very convenient for museums. They provide a transfer service to and from the V&A waterfront several times a day. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.
Very comfortable and nice view at the table Mountain👍 all people is good also Allocation near for everything Market , restaurant, shopping,Macdonald, pizza hut really I liked this palace. والطاقم كان لطيفين معنا من ناحية تقديم المشورة لنا ومساعدتنا عند السؤال 🌹
Pros- Big thank you to Chantel, Carlos and Ernest as they were very friendly and helpful throughout our time spent. The entire staff was Ahh-mazing staff! Beautiful views from my fifth floor stay! Clean double bed rooms!!!!! The breakfast and dinner was great! We both received complementary wine for both our birthday’s. My friends and I spent 5 nights at this hotel and it was a perfect location to explore this beautiful city. Cons- The load shading (Hopefully that was spelled correctly) is when the government cuts off the electricity throughout the town; either twice a day and it can last up too 2hours! I remember the first time it happened we didn’t have a flashlight in our room. But by the second night we were prepared! Thanks again, Friends from NY & Jamaica
This hotel is well located at the beginning of Victoria Street with easy access to all shops and facilities. The rooms are airy and large but the bathrooms are incredibly small. Very disappointing. The breakfast spread is adequate. The bar and restaurant were as can be expected. There is no parking at the hotel and you need to park at the neighbouring hotel at extra cost. For some inexplicable reason the beds are very short, and tall people will have their feet sticking out of them. Don't forget to carry your electrical adaptor, since the rooms don't have usb charging points or international plug points. That said the staff are helpful and friendly.
Stayed here for a couple of nights when we landed in SA. Decent base to go out. Breakfast was nice - some was a bit cold but a good selection. Had a bit of trouble at night with someone outside the hotel who was asking for money and got a bit aggressive - although guess you can get that in Cape Town
we stayed here for 10 nights from new years eve .The staff are really helpful (esp on reception) we had a room on the 8th floor with a great view of table mountain....when wind blows at night it sounds terrible because of the ill fitting windows. The bed is really small compared to most hotels and the bathroom is tiny. when the electric goes and cant use the lift is a problem when oap! The cooked breakfast was never hot. We ate there for dinner a couple of times and was lovely. It was a nice place in a good spot.
We stayed for 5 nights from Boxing Day and had an excellent time Our view from the top floor of the Tabletop Mountain was brilliant -one could lay on the comfortable bed and get an unimpeded view of the mountain and see the "tablecloth " when the wind blew the clouds up and over the mountain. The Hotel is directly opposite the beautiful Compound Gardens which are adjacent to the Parliament, Planetarium/museum, which are all worth an inspection. The breakfast was included in the price and there was ample variety to choose from and the service from the staff was prompt. We also had lunch at the kerbside tables and a couple of late-night dinners. The desk reception staff were always on hand to answer requests. Only took the shuttle once to get to the waterfront and unfortunately the driver hit a median strip and bounced over the concrete obstacle and it caught us unawares and consequently put my wifes lower back out and so Robben Island was ruled out. I asked the reception for collection from the airport and for a half day tour of the city and i would strongly support not booking this tour until you arrive and ask the desk for the driver called Blessing as he drove us all over town, up to Signal Hill, Camps Beach& Clifton and stopped whenever for photos and coffee breaks -3hrs for 1500ZA. I prebooked the Gondola for the 30th Dec and just rang Blessing to drive me up the hill from our Hotel-unfortunately it had been Very Windy and they closed the mountain( YES it does happen and for the entire day to the disappointment of hundreds.)-I grabbed a electronic refund at the mountain and then rang Blessing again and within 15 mins he was there to pick me up-quite a flexible arrangement which suited me. The above mentioned wind was a cause for our 2nd issue in what was overall a brilliant stay in a delightful city - the wind was so STRONG it made sleeping extremely difficult on our last night as the french doors that provide the exquisite charm to the property rattled all night even with one of the doors bolted at the base-the other door continued to shake, rattle and roll even when we turned both heavy chairs over and wedged them against the doors-to sum up it was just one shocking night and when I mentioned it to the manager I received the usual sanitized response but as of today we have not had any further response from the Management , which prevented the Hotel from receiving a near-perfect score. I would stay here again but insist on the room not being impacted by the same event. When you book ask for the suite facing the mountain-you won't be disappointed.!!…
We stayed at the Capetown Hollow for three nights with our family in late December 2019. The staff were most welcoming and pleasant. The rooms were a good size, with very comfortable beds and housekeeping of a good standard. It was particularly good to have a Nespresso machine in the room. Unfortunately we did not have a view from the room, being neither on the Company Gardens side, nor the mountain side and if I had had a choice, I would have preferred a better view, rather looking out over the back of nearby buildings. The bathroom was adequate, if rather small. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. There was a small swimming pool rarely used, but with only two sunbeds and some upright rattan seating. As a moderately priced hotel, I would be happy to recommend this place to tourists, in terms of value for money, staffing and accessibility to Kloof Street and good local restaurants and bars. …
We have to compliment the excellent service of the front desk staff. She was on duty from Christmas eve to boxing day and we experienced exceptionally good hospitality from her. Bed is a bit small. Wifi is unstable. Provides free scheduled shuttle to & from V&A waterfront.
