Some views from and to the hotel. A special pancake machine at the breakfast buffet. Spent a week in the hotel. We liked the superior suite.

Wow is all i can say. From Check in to Check out, our stay was unforgettable. Our suite was big and spacious not to forget our Jacuzzi was amazing. We had the most outstanding view of the ocean that was indescribable.

The staff had brilliant energy every single moment making our stay even more memorable and going above and beyond our needs making us feel like royalty.

During breakfast and dinner we had the most delicious food with some good laughs with the staff. Not to forget the service all round was ON POINT ! Thank you!

From a covid-19 point of view the hotel was always keeping our safety in mind with sanitizers at all touch points and the appropriate signage all round, reminding us to wear our masks and sanitize at all times. #flatteningthecurve

Thank you to the GM Chris and his amazing team for taking care of us so well and making every moment special and memorable, just to mention a few names i managed to get were Edith,Caroline, Alrich and Jeff thank you to you and your fellow staff for being awesome!

The Peninsula Hotel, You will most definitely see us again.

I cannot express how caring all the staff were at this hotel, they go the extra mile to make your stay as complete as it can be. 10/10. I stayed in my parents two bed apartment, that is a time share. The hotel and in particular the room was a little tired, however spotlessly clean. The TV in the lounge area was small and the reception/picture not the best. Everything else was good. The view out of the sunny balcony, a lovely ocean view. South Africa has its problems including frequent power cuts, the hotel has a massive back up diesel generator to cope with the problem.

The pool area is small but adequate - the two dinners I ate at the hotel were good...not excellent.

All in all the hotel is in a good location, transport is provided by the hotel to almost anywhere in town.

Once again a special mention to the staff, they really are excellent, friendly and smiling. They are the hotels best asset.

The hotel is well positioned between the City Bowl and the Caps Bay Beaches. It offers all the amenities one could expect. The ambiance in the bar & restaurant can be improved on. The 2 sleeper suite we were initially offered on the second floor had no view nad was very small. However, on request we were moved to the fourth floor apartment which had better layout and offered an exceptional sea view. The shuttle service offered was most efficient.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of November with two small children in a 2 bedroom suite. The suite was on the first floor right in front of the bar. Even though we were there on a Monday and Tuesday, the bar blared loud music until 11pm each night. The suite was also right in front of the lifts with the only usable shower having a window opening onto the internal corridor in front of the lifts. I'm sure some guests enjoy overhearing loud music, but perhaps not appropriate for guests with young children.

We requested bedding for the sofa bed for the first night - this took two hours to come after three reminder phone calls. The travel cot was also only delivered very late. Quite tricky when you have small children who are ready for bed.

The doorstop for the front door had come out of the floor and the pull switches for the fan in the second bedroom had broken and been fixed by tying a string to them - but the pull wouldn't work unless you stood on the bed to get the right angle. The suite was not in great condition.

I had booked through the Dream Resorts website and paid 50% deposit. On check in, I paid the other 50% and they charged me another 50% on check out. I have contacted them but have not yet received a refund for this.

Breakfast was incredible slow on both days.

The hotel is in a good position and the warm pool was heavenly (although the gym was often out of towels). The staff was friendly when we encountered them, but very slow.

Not what I was expecting at all, booked a room for 4 adults and 2 had an amazing sea view where the other 2 stayed in a match box of a room with no windows or anything, room was situated right by the kitchen. Staff were not friendly at all, lifts didn't work. 2 adults went to book into the The president hotel and what a complete difference, modern spacious rooms as well as a full buffet breakfast every morning for less than what it cost per night at The Peninsula with NO breakfast!

Definitely not a hotel I would recommend with a 4 star rating compared to the others in the same area, the only plus i would give The Peninsula is the view from the room.

Thank you for your comments we are disappointed that we did not meet your expectations, yes the luxury suite is a two bedroom suite where in your case the 2nd bedroom is better suited for children than adults, I will investigate why they could not reallocate you and what was reserved. We apologize for one lift being out of order but we are currently replacing a cable and this needed to be sourced from outside of Cape Town and for safety reasons this lift is out of operation until 5th November. My staff are generally rated excellent for their friendliness and apologize if you did not experience this.

Although beautifully located and amazing staff, tge photos mislead you to rooms you think you are booking. The owner and managers are well aware of what they do, since they don’t want a bad review they ensure you are “upgraded” to a better room - whilst in the first place this is what you have paid for.
Very sneaky and slimy sales pitch.

Otherwise the staff are amazing and their friendly hearts make your stay great.

I don’t give high hygiene standards to the rooms. Entrance appears to be a grand hotel but I would not recommend the restaurant - the large cockroaches were waltzing all over the deck.

Call ahead to make sure you ask for the open plan room with glass balcony, otherwise you meet the sad sale strategy.

At most the quality is 3 stars. For location, it is fantabulous.
Parking was charged at R65 per night in addition.
For the high price of the accommodation - it should be included.

Thank you for your comments I can assure you there no intent to mislead anyone in our marketing pictures. Each suite gets a full makeover every 5 years, 20% of the suites are completed each year. For obvious reasons our latest photographs feature the new look and feel, there is no intent to deceive. I am sorry that you came across unwanted visitors on our restaurant deck it does have street frontage from where they occasionally come, there is regularly fumigated and hygiene is a priority. The Deck is a very popular destination and frequented by many and if this were a common occurrence it would no be so popular.. We do appreciate all feedback be it negative or positive and yes we are renowned for our location and friendly caring team.so thank you for making note of this.

Very centrally located, close to beaches and shopping district, walking distance to very popular Mojo Market. Rooms are neat and well-kept and recently renovated. Bathrooms are tidy, with very good water pressure for a relaxing shower, although it seems the tub was left out of renovations as it was stained and a bit grubby looking. Enough electrical points to charge all your devices. On our floor, all windows opened wide for a sea breeze, although the restaurant right below the room windows was a poor choice as it can get loud and rowdy. The kitchen is equipped with two plate stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, lots of counter space, toaster, kettle and basin. Couch in living room can be pulled out for double bed. While we were there the generator was broken, but they provided rechargeable lights and candles. The wi-fi is off during loadshedding and very spotty otherwise, do not depend on it, especially if you have work to do. We had water leak from the room above onto the extractor fan and stove, reported it to reception and housekeeping, all they did was leave extra towels to mop up the water, we couldn't use the stove for fear of electrocute or a short-circuit. Busses stop right outside the hotel. They have safe and secure parking at R70 per night

This property is currently under going renovations and while we had a renovated room it felt more like a “ quickie” then a real deal renovation..

The good:
Good central location
Fantastic sea views
Very large spacious suites
Excellent wifi
Friendly staff
Complimentary Shuttle bus

The not so the great:
Bed very soft.. I don’t believe mattresses have been replaced
Bath tub very old and tired and was not replaced.. the jacuzzi jets disabled and the vents are grimy the tubs really need a replacement

The bad:
Food is shocking!! Breakfast was included in rate and after day one we didn’t even try eat again. Did complain and spoke to mgt re food

Made a booking for one night for a business trip. I was not told anything about having an ID present. I arrived and was told that they can not give me a room due tot the fact that I did not have an ID I was paying upfront and even offered to make an extra R500 payment to cover additional costs. It's a long weekend, I have tried to find alternative accommodation with no luck. Worst experience in Cape Town ever. Thanks for that.

I was also concerned about the staff not wearing masks and the fact that I was twice handed a pen that was not sanitised after the staff used it.

Dear Willie I am sorry you feel this way and did not receive the service you expected, it how ever is a government requirement that you need proof of identification when checking into a hotel and we are required to keep a copy that is presented on arrival. I have spoken to team about sanitising pens after use and make sure their masks are properly warn. We definitely prioritize the safety of our guests. Kind Regards Chris Godenir General Manager
