The Westin Cape Town enjoys a central location lauded by guests for its proximity to local attractions and the waterfront, catering to both business and leisure visitors. The rooms earn praise for their comfort and views, though room service has received some criticism. Cleanliness is a highlight, with the hotel's upkeep frequently complimented. While the amenities, including wellness facilities and breakfast variety, are appreciated, guests have noted occasional slow service and a lack of variety in the lounge. The staff's friendliness stands out, despite some reports of inconsistent experiences. However, the hotel's value is debated, with concerns about food quality and responsiveness to inquiries.

I highly recommend the Westin! The service was amazing, right from the moment we checked in. The buffet breakfast was not only delicious but there was tons of selection. The room was always tidy when we arrived back and items we were restocked daily- lots of little extras that went a long way. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. :)

The location is very pleasant, not far from the busy port district, but in the evening it is recommended not to leave the hotel or take a car.
The staff are very attentive, they think anticipatively, thank you so much for this nice and friendly team! To name a few: Jason in the lounge was always so attentive and friendly, as was Francine in the restaurant on the ground floor or Wong (?) in the lobby. It was a pleasure and honor to stay there.
In the room you will also find biscuits, which go well with tea and are refilled every day.
The only drawback in the room is that the windows creak when exposed to sunlight, which is an architectural or design flaw.
In addition, the fitness center is freezing cold, the air conditioning is too strong there, I could not train, some trained with a towel on their head as protection from the cold, also the SPA reception is very hypothermic and unfortunately some treatment rooms, although the massages were very good, equally highly recommended is the hairdresser opposite the lounge.
In the steam bath, the faucet is already so worn (damage from the permanent steam) that the coating comes loose and you can cut your fingers there, so caution is advised!
I booked the airport transfer through the congress organizer, the one offered in the hotel lobby at the travel desk is too expensive.
Room service and breakfast were excellent, both in the lounge and restaurant on the ground floor.

Ending a Regent cruise in Cape Town, we had a post-cruise stay of 3 nights in the Westin. Room was great, spacious, comfortable, great bed and views of Table Mountain. Public areas were also comfortable, except for the weird chairs/sofas without back support and we dined well in the restaurant on our first evening. Breakfast offered plenty of choices and generally prompt service.

The location is in the Central Business District and many shops up Long Street and within walking distance of the attractive park and museums. Thanks to friends locally, we dined one evening at Obi, a charming Japanese restaurant on Long Street. It's also a 15 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront, a must-visit marina and complex with great shops and restaurants. There is a footbridge behind the Cullinan Hotel (right and left across the road from the hotel) which takes you across some of the busy roads.

Check-in was a disaster but only because 700 pax were arriving and a similar number perhaps leaving. Since official check-in 3 pm we had to wait almost 2 hours to be assigned a room. It seems like the hotel had no coherent plan or process to streamline this (eg give a number and wait to be called). This shouldn't be a problem for individual arrivals so I still score our stay "very good".
One small piece of advice : avoid the Travelex Exchange Bureau in V&A complex. I stupidly didn't check properly and found they charged a commission of 100 rand and another 100 transaction fee for fees of almost 26 % ! So $ 50 dollars got me 661.66 rand. Same transaction in hotel got me 863 rand. Beware and be careful.

The rooms are beautiful but the dining room and bar on the ground floor are dark dingy and depressing.

The Westin executive club on the 19th floor do a very good complementary drinks and canapé service after 4 o’clock, which is lovely.

All in all this is a good hotel, apart from the restaurant and bar areas on the ground floor.

The self service breakfast was cold and not particularly tasty so tomorrow we will be having the complimentary breakfast on the 19th floor.

There is also an abundance of staff with a distinct lack of service. It has just taken nearly 15 minutes to get a bottle of wine!

I am an Ambassador Elite member and decided to stay at the hotel as tried a few others over the year.

Check in was seamless and a little weight and only 2 people checking in at 6pm so waited 15min, got my upgrade and was nice. And a nice suite,

Westin Lounge was hit and miss and sometimes had great service and sometimes poor. 2 days ago I went for breakfast and no one asked me for my order and asked everyone else. It came close to 1030 when kitchen was closing and I asked someone if anyone would take my order and they did, but shouldn’t have to ask. Today I went down at ole wing as was working early and they were open but said no hot food for 30min and I would miss breakfast then, reluctantly the chefs did cook me some eggs and I was happy but could tell wasent happy.

Guest services staff are friendly and tried to get me a reservation in a steak restaurant but couldn’t get the time we wanted so we rang ourselves and got in.

Used restaurant for dinner one night and room service and both were great and nice food.

I check out on Monday and flight is at 1830 and wanted to leave at around 4pm so asked for a late check out to 3.30-4pm and told no as fully booked but had to pay another 4000 ZAR ($210 USD) just to stay another 3-4 hrs past checkout time so around 1000ZAR per hour ($52 USD) for the privilege.

My turn down service is always at 6pm so easy for someone to make the room at 3pm and have it ready soon after.

I do find that poor but I am needing to shower before I go for a long flight and have reluctantly had to pay.

At the beginning of the week it was 5 star rating but after 1 week of staying this would be 2 1/2 really I think but thought I would give them 3 as other items in the hotel was good.

I think they need to work on the customer service with elite members.

Stayed here the night before a cruise. Check-in was smooth and the room was great (18th floor with a view of Table Mountain if we looked sideways 😋). The staff are really nice and helpful, especially the doormen/ bell staff. We had a small late lunch snack on the terrace, prawns, squid & truffle chips which were very tasty, although service was slow. The big downside was the breakfast. First of all the location in the ground floor restaurant was very noisy, the double height central area along with tiles on floor and walls made everything echo around, it sounded more like a works canteen than a upscale hotel restaurant. The food was a buffet, and whilst a reasonable selection was mainly cold. Although there is a fresh omelette station, because we ordered one each, when they were delivered one was cold and inedible, presumably because it had been made and then sat waiting for the second one to cook.

The staff have also obviously been told to clear the used plates quickly from the tables, great idea but needs a little refinement, please don’t remove a plate when the diner is still chewing the last mouthful. It was also disappointing that the orange juice was long life, from concentrate type rather than ‘never from concentrate’ or even better freshly squeezed.

So overall, a decent hotel, but some improvements required.

The Westin, Cape Town, is an old hotel, but it continues to maintain its presence, quality, and some high standard in Cape Town. We stayed here for 8 days, during a friend's 60th birthday celebration event in Cape Town.

We occupied an executive room and were also given access to the executive club on the 19th floor. The room was very nice, with good linen, bed of high standard. That said, we had to lodge a complaint on the hurried nature of how our room was cleaned on our second day of stay. The bed was not made properly, the carpet floor wasn't cleaned, and the bathroom was half cleaned. It's not good for a 5-star hotel. After complaining, the housekeeper made amends, and the cleaning standard was raised to the highest standard for the duration of our stay. Now, imagine if we hadn't complained!

We also ordered food from room service, and half of what we ordered were not brought. Instead, they gave us something else, and the waiter chose to argue with us that our order was correct, despite seeing clearly what was on the ticket, which differs from the food that she brought to us. Tgat said, after waiting for 45 mins for the original order to be brought to us, we reluctantly accepted the wrong order, ate the food, and then lodged our complaints later.😊

The breakfast buffet was alright, but there weren't great or many selections of cold meats in the cold meat section. They really need to improve on this.

Lastly, the overall service delivery by some of the staff really needs serious improvement. Some of the staff in the restaurant are way too loud when talking to each other, and some of them even gave out bad unwelcoming and nonchalant attitude/vibe to their customers. It was like they felt that they were doing us, their customers, a favour by serving us. Not good enough for a hotel of this standard, and some of those staff need to be retrained. The only exception was Rose (like the Rose wine) at the outdoor cafe whose smile, professionalism, and welcoming attitude/vibe were a joy to see. Kudos to her!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💐

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Westin, and we will definitely come back there when next we visit Cape Town.

The Westin Cape Town is a 5-Star Hotel that falls short of its 5 star rating. The hotel facilities are very good; the rooms are large and very comfortable, with comfortable bedding and premium amenities. They have an excellent spa, with a heated lap pool and Jacuzzi, and fully equipped gym, which is a bit small and tight for comfort, and lacks some of the most modern aerobic machines. It also has an outdoor pool, that is really a large tub, but at the right time of day, you can sun bathe in the small area. During my stay only one restaurant was open, the main restaurant in the ground floor, which had a nice breakfast buffet, but the rest of their menu, including their room service menu was fairly limited and mediocre. None of their foods, and I had room service several times, were impressive. It also has an Executive Lounge that serves breakfast, and has a happy hour. Their happy hour, which they call the Canape Hour, is from 4 – 6 p.m. which is a very inconvenient time. I was here on business, so most of the time I was busy until 5 p.m. so by the time you return to the hotel you barely have time for a drink. Most Marriott Brand hotels have their happy hour from 5 – 7 p.m. and some even later, as the Executive Lounge is supposed to cater to business people. The appetizers that are served during the happy hour only change every four days. So after staying here one week, I got to see only one change in their happy hour menu. Finally service… a five star hotel is supposed to provide flawless service, and this is where this hotel fails to meet their five stars rating the most. Whether in the lounge, in the restaurant, or the front desk, their service is mediocre, and the staff just doesn’t make you feel welcome. They generally lack empathy for the guests. In fact, they make you feel that is all about the money they can make and not about providing flawless service to the customer. The worst was their housekeeping. For the first three days the housekeeping staff would just walk into my room, without knocking or asking if they could clean the room. I finally complained to the front desk staff, spoke to the assistant front desk manager, Andre, and his response was that I should put my do not disturb sign and then service the room sign. So instead of the responsibility being put on a well trained staff, the emphasis was placed on the customer to ensure his privacy is not being violated by the staff. Truly five star service right? Over all this hotel is a nice hotel. But after one week here, the service made me want to leave them in a hurry and never return.

Situated amidst the bustling City of Cape Town, The Westin provides stunning views of multiple landmarks including Table Mountain, the DHL Stadium and the Cape Town harbor. It's location allows for cheap and easy uber rides to nearby attractions in the city center.

The breakfast buffet was delectable, mixing local and international cuisines to create a mouth watering variety of flavors to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the fresh sushi and the deliciously grilled sausages.

The spa was fitted with a heated infinity pool and jacuzzi overlooking the neighboring waterfront which harbored massive ships, creating a unique view.

A special mention to the staff, especially Miss Tamlyn for their world-class service, receptiveness and hospitality.

Overall, The Westin is a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it to travelers coming to visit The Mother City!

A wonderful welcome and check in by Geordie on the front desk set high expectations for our stay. He was so kind and friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay memorable. Our room on the Executive floor (15) was spacious, modern and clean and we were very comfortable. Bed was good, and the bathroom well fitted and immaculately clean. 10/10 for the room. The Club Lounge on the 19th floor was good. It has an amazing view of the city and Table Mountain and we liked breakfast here, eggs to order and a perfectly acceptable buffet display. Evening cocktail hour was also worth a visit though the snacks were a little limited. We enjoyed room service one evening which was good, good food and delivered hot and speedily.
The staff throughout the property were lovely, all very kind and friendly.
The location of the hotel is good being within walking distance of the V and A Waterfront with all its restaurants and shops.
Guest Services let us down with a birthday cake that had been arranged in advance, (two birthday cards that we got were twice addressed to me and not my partner who's birthday it actually was) though they did eventually deliver a cake (still in the Woolworths plastic box with the price tag on! ) Apart from that we loved our stay at the Westin and would definitely stay again.........
