We recently stayed for a 4night long weekend in Feb2021 and were very impressed and cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. The staff were friendly, polite & competent and truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome and attended to. Covid protocols seemed firmly in place and everyone was wearing their masks religiously, with hotel & restaurant guest temperatures checked and baggage disinfected on arrival. We felt very safe and did not have any covid related concerns. The hotel was obviously not fully occupied and we receive a complementary room upgrade, which was a nice touch. Facilities and rooms we clean, welcoming and well kept. Restaurant food was tasty & very highly quality, even if a little overpriced. Overall we were very impressed and will definitely be returning to this wonderful property - well done to the Belmond Mt Nelson team! …
Charming, graceful hotel, incredibly attentive, beautifully appointed. Décor is considered and comfortable, you can feel how it has been perfected with time. Service excellent (except for a bit of a debacle around breakfast), incredibly attentive, very good COVID 19 safety measures.
A memorable experience that will stay with you forever. Exceptional service, special touches and friendly staff that make you feel at home. Take in all the history and heritage of the property and enjoy the thriving old trees that make the property so special.
Firstly, amid all the glittering chandeliers, the clink of silverware, and demure uniformed attendants, is pristine hygiene and safety protocols at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. Truly, this Afternoon Tea could be worth it on the simple merit of the fresh and flavoursome cuisine, that balances a wonderful dining experience in tandem with teas so rich in aroma and provenance, alone! Luckily, the Afternoon Tea is worth it on so many levels: There is tasteful splendour in the tiered cuisine and indulgent service - the waitrons commendably servicing guests. The Afternoon Tea at Mount Nelson, begins as tradition demands: with quintessential and prestige blend tea choices. I highly recommend trying the rather fantastic house-blend Mount Nelson tea. On the finger foods: I thoroughly enjoyed the fresh and warm scones, the smoked Franschhoek Trout sandwich, as well as the Spinach and feta quiche, and sweet treats like carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. If you need a different sort of Afternoon Tea menu, try the imaginative plant-based menus on offer. You could be reticent in engaging people, or keen to be among the throng, and the hotels’ property will welcome you to a number of ideal picturesque settings for some good tea and welcome warmth.…
No better place in Cape Town to celebrate a special birthday. This was a dream come true. The understated elegance and superb service from start to finish made our one night stay one that we will remember always.
