Modern, safe, and comfortable. Excellent service, extremely clean. The bed linens were crisp and new. The room was quiet at night, especially with the windows closed. Breakfast was included in my package and provided as a huge and generous buffet with fresh eggs cooked to order — the fruit was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the laundry service was perfect. I stayed in room 106. No bath, and the shower leaked. Bring your own wash cloth and toiletries, they only provide soap and a combined shampoo/body wash. Signature scent is lemon verbena.

We stayed here on the second week of our tour and there was very little to complain about. The rooms (get an even numbered one there is a view of Table Mountain) are comfortable and clean although the aircon is a bit noisy. The dining room staff are slow and a little inattentive except for the manageress who is terrific. The food is very good and cooked well, 5* for the Chef's department. The bar needed help as there is only one person who knows how to mix cocktails. Get an Uber account for the rides to the waterfront area. Would I stay here again - yes.

We stayed here as a large group of people when we attended my nephew's wedding in Cape Town. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The rooms were clean and well appointed. When we asked for lunch for about 30 people they obliged by doing this at short notice. The food is generally good. Easy to move around from here to the waterfront and airport. Strongly recommended.

This hotel is my favourte Tsogo sun Hotel when in visitng capetown , has a homely feel, great hospitality and a good buffet for dinning with great views . It not far from town and the iconic Table mountain . Last time i stayed there my car keys fell down the elivator shaft. The hotel staff went out of their way to retrive them without charging me . I love this place

I can honestly say that I have never been this let down by a hotel. I stayed at this hotel every year until I turned 21 in 2017, which is when I stopped. This was a favourite of mine and my late father's that I had to stay this year. The hotel has the same appearance. Apart from removing the shower curtain, the hotel has not undergone any improvements. The refrigerator in the room I was staying in was functional but broken.
The absence of cool air from the air conditioner made the space feel stuffy and warm. The fact that the pool has multiple levels should be disclosed. The breakfast was quite simple. When I asked the staff if they could fix the pancake maker because it wasn't working, they stated that only one particular staff member knew how to operate the device.
The most frustrating part that occurred to me was being hassled by a hotel guest. We rode in the same elevator, and when we exited on the same floor, he began following me and interrogating me. He inquired about my room number and whether I was alone in it, among other things. He also suggested joining me in my room since he didn't want to spend the night alone. Even after I told him no, he persisted in bothering me until I offered him a fictitious room number. He was moving away in the opposite direction, so I quickly hurried back to my room and shut the door as soon as I felt secure.

Room was nice and clean but did not get any sleep the first night as the air conditioning unit was so loud. The worse thing is there was nothing wrong with it, that is just how it worked. Second night we opened a window and slept but was still hot.

The bed was so uncomfortable I had a sore back and had to stretch it throughout the day, luckily we were only there for two nights and then moving on.

The service in the bar was terrible, we thought they had forgotten our drink even though there was only one other group there and when we asked the person we ordered with thought another bar tender was getting our drink.

Some kids were having a pool bday party and running through the bar area constantly in their swim wear which is not what you want when trying to have a relaxing drink.

I would not recommend this hotel.

Spent several nights here as a base for exploring the Eastern Cape. Good size rooms and facilities. Friendly and helpful staff with a special mention to a Gaby the Deputy Manager who went over and above and Zanela who was our delightful and friendly server in the restaurant.
Restaurant very good with a great variety at breakfast and good value meals in the evening. I would recommend the fillet steaks which are excellent value at £10.
Good size pool and small gym for anyone wanting to exercise. Definitely would recommend a stay here

We were very disappointed in our stay here. C.T. was the start of our vacation in Africa and it was around NYE so hotels were VERY limited.....this was the bottom of the barrel. We knew we were in trouble the first day when we arrived after a 14 hour flight from Atlanta, and wanted to walk and get a quick bite to eat.....the hotel staff looked at us like we had 3 heads and said it IS NOT safe to walk anywhere around here. This is a really bad neighborhood. If you want a hotel similar to an old USA Howard Johnson's in a really bad neighborhood.....this is it. The pics don't honestly show this spot.

I would not recommend this to anyone.

Good Day Tony, Thank you for taking the time to give us constructive feedback from your recent stay in Cape Town. We appreciate your comments and we will definitely look into the wording and mannerism in which our staff convey the safety message. Kindly note that we prefer a safe rather than sorry approach when it comes to our guests, especially during the night. The intention is not to scare our guest but to provide information that can assist and keep all guests safe at all times.

My wife and I have staid at Sun Square many times. We have walked and driven into the centre of Cape Town through the Company Gardens and on occasion as far as the waterfront without incident. If you really feel nervous I would suggest that you take a taxi for your first trip and walk when you are more confident and familiar with your surroundings. Lets face it you can get mugged in any large town.
