Travellers' Choice
Built in 1790 as the hunting lodge of Lord Nelson, the AfricanHome guesthouse is one of the oldest buildings in this suburb of Cape Town, situated only 2 blocks away from the Atlantic Seabord. It is a very peaceful oasis in the middle of this buzzling city, in walking distance to many restaurants and to the Waterfront, just 3 km away from Clifton Beaches and famous Long Street. German owners who offer a fabulous breakfast buffet. Enjoy a relaxing day at the sparkling salt water pool being spoilt from our service.

We very much enjoyed our stay and Ralf and Stefan are perfect hosts. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and very, very comfortable. A wide range of top quality fresh, or cooked produce is available for breakfast, which can be taken on the patio, or inside. You can relax in, or by the pool, which it located within the private walled garden. We felt the area was quite safe and it is a 40 or 50 minute walk to the Waterfront. Alternatively you can jump on the hop on bus at the stop approx 200m away on the sea front. There are some very good restaurants nearby and we were happy to walk back to the accommodation late at night. Ralf was extremely helpful making various bookings on our behalf as we were not using our phones in SA. Overall, we had a fabulous 4 nights at AfricanHome and enjoyed various conversations with other guests and Stefan and Ralf. We hope to be back!

We stayed with Ralf and Stefan over the busy new year period and had a fantastic stay. It’s a little oasis in the middle of the lively Sea Point area and within easy reach of everywhere else worth visiting in and around the City . Both hosts were also really accommodating especially at breakfast where my fussy vegetarian partner was concerned sorting out little non meat treats for him every day. They even helped with organising some of our trips getting us our own driver as well which was fantastic too. Well definitely be coming back here so we’ll some Ralf and Stefan ..(and the lovely Milka the cat) Maria and Graeme

Dear Maria and Graeme- thanks for your kind review about your stay at our AfricanHome during the busy cricket period here in CapeTown around New Year`s. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and that we were able to satisfy even the vegetarian desires of your partner- who in fact was lots of fun for us (despite his vegetarian touch , LOL) . I am so sorry that I still do not really understand the principle of cricket - and why so many people would spend so many hours there not being able to find out who has won or lost, day after day ....that I also shared with Graeme !! ...so you can be sure I am a complete cricket idiot! We would be happy to welcome you again here at our place - and maybe until then I will have picked up a few of these game laws. Best regards out of the AfricanHome

This was our 4th time staying at African Home and we can’t wait to go back again. Ralf and Stephan are perfect hosts and the staff could not do more for their guests. The breakfasts are delicious with a wide choice of hot and cold foods. Seapoint is great as a base to explore Cape Town and Ralf is so informative and helpful in booking day trips to wineries, Penninsula etc. If you like high quality, personal service then you can’t go wrong with African Home.

We were with Ralph and Stefan for six days and they were the best hosts we ever had. The accommodation is very central, restaurants supermarkets, the ocean and the bus stations are within two to five minutes walking distance. The rooms are lovingly furnished and very clean, breakfast is wonderful and our dinner together on the terrasse will be unforgetable. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to it. Steffi & Tommi
