This is a really great place !

My room was neat, clean, comfortable and for me felt like home.

Good breakfast, good security. Located close to supermarket and restaurants, excellent location.

Marion and the other staff were most kind and, most helpful.

I highly recommend staying here !

6 of us stayed at this Guest House for 4 nights. The Guest House is immaculate, the breakfast ample, and the location terrific - so close to "downtown," and very safe.

I can't praise this place enough. A room of your own -- with bathroom, way tall ceilings (wooden, so they creak, but lots of character), hearty breakfast, and, most important of all, family-level hospitality, in the center of the city for... 550 rand. And -- the mark of a true winner -- they're keen on details. The showers are sizable and have great water pressure. If the wi-fi is out, the entire team gets on it and it's fixed in a minute. Want a towel for the beach? Here you go. Need laundry done ASAP? We'll do it for $2.50. The beds are soft. Everything is spic 'n span. The breakfasts will leave you sagging. Etc. Not every detail is perfect -- the coffee's weak, the wi-fi works best in the common area -- but this is nothing when you're staying in the heart of the city, with some of its greatest food and leisure (Jason Bakery is just down the road), for less than $50/night. (Less if you're sharing.) And, in a disproportionately white city, it was really nice to stay in a place that draws as many Africans, South and otherwise, as visitors from Australia, Europe, and the US. So, a huge thumbs up. Discount places in the center are often a gamble, but this one gives a good name to the lot. It's supported by St. Paul's Church next door, so that travelers of lesser means can have a good time, too, and what a noble mission, and executed so much better than it has to be.

This Guest House is the best budget accommodation in Cape Town, hands down! Located so close to the city center, you can walk anywhere in a few minutes or hop on one of the new bright red, double-decker buses at a stop just a block away. Both the beautiful old house and it's parking lot are very safe and secure, and like every other location in the vibrant city center, there are helpful security officers posted everywhere. It's rates are very reasonable and it can accommodate single travelers, couples, families, or even larger groups who need separate kitchen and meeting space.

It is simply but tastefully decorated, very clean, and the beds comfortable in all nine rooms, three on-suite (more coming) and six more upstairs where bathrooms are shared. The very high ceilings, large windows and central courtyard remind you that the building was built in another era. It was once the St Monica's Maternity Home, and then a Shelter for street children, which like the Guest House were mission efforts of the faith community of St Paul's Anglican Church. ALL travelers are welcome, it should be said, people of all faiths (or of no faith), and every color or culture! Located on Bree Street with an array of restaurants, and wine and coffee shops, and as close to the historic BoKapp (Malay Quarter) as to the City center. The view of Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Mission Hill are fantastic.

The best thing about St Paul's Guest House, however, is the warmth and hospitality offered by the Manager and small staff who are so personally committed daily to making each guest feel at home (the mission) whether serving the wonderful breakfast, a cup of tea, hailing a taxi, giving directions, washing and ironing whatever your need. They are special, and want to make every guest feel at home. ALL who come are welcome.

I've stayed with them many times over the last 20 years, and will again and again.

St Paul's is a nice friendly guest house which represents excellent value for money in the down town area of Cape Town. The accommodation is basic yet adequate and comfortable. Though their website is limited, communication of any queries though email was always speedy and helpful. I took a room with shared bathroom facilities and other rooms have ensuite option. There is a bowl and jug to make things a little easier for washing. The room was spacious and comfortable. My room faced the front and is in a busy little area which, without any real problems is a bit noisy, night through. I found some earplugs came in use! If this is important to you, I'd recommend asking for one of the back rooms. There is no TV in the bedrooms but there is free wifi. A basic breakfast is served. St Paul's is very clean and the ladies who work there were really accommodating in allowing me to grab a basic cold breakfast at an early time to accommodate some day trips with early set offs. Bed and bedding is fresh and comfortable. Plenty of storage space. No fans or aircon, though. Security appears good. Be aware the house does seem to have visits from average size young groups on student type visits. However I found because the staff seem very experienced and take pride in the running of the house that I didn't encounter any real problems as they seem to manage potential issues very well. The location, though downtown is well placed for restuarants, shops and bars.

Hi, I stayed in Saint Paul Guest House, Bree Street Cape Town, last January. The guest house is perfectly situated, few meters walk from Long Street. The manager Jared is incredibly friendly and helpful, in case he would advise you, book taxi, sort you out from any difficult situation. I will never forget the kindness of Jared, his family and the staff. I strongly recommand this guest house. Cedric (France)

Home away from home.
Excellent service. Many thanks to the staff especially Father, mamaLetitia and mamaNorma for the hospitality.

Mama Letitia even made us sandwiches for the road as we left very early in the morning.

Comfortable and great for the budget. Will definitely come back.
