Detailed Reviews
I've stayed at many hotels around the world but my stay at Queen Victoria hotel was by far the best. When you arrive your luggage is taken and put to the side, you're invited to take a seat at the check-in desk where they offer you a hot towel and an ice-cold punch. The staff are incredibly friendly, I felt as if I was an old friend returning, however, this was my first visit. The rooms are absolutely charming and well decorated, the bed is very comfortable and the linens are luxurious, my favorite was the fresh macaroons and a personalized welcome note on the desk. The breakfast was delicious, they don't make them every day but if they have them you must try their cronut covered in dark chocolate...it's an experience all on it's own. I only stayed two nights at the end of my trip to SA but I wish I had stayed longer, I will most definitely return when I go back. Highly recommended!

This was the first leg of my trip to South Africa and Zambia and what a start I had. The location of the V&A is excellent, literally steps away from the Waterfront with bars, shops and restaurants, however away enough from the hustle and bustle. As a solo traveller I felt very safe walking around in the area both in the day and at night. My room was on the second floor with a view of table mountain. The room was a good size, with a large bathroom that had a large shower cubicle and large bath. Service and staff were remarkably great and always checked in with me to see how I was and if I needed anything without being annoying. Breakfasts had a great buffet and a good menu of eggs, pancakes etc. I did eat dinner there too. The menu wasn’t that extensive but what I did eat was great. However, the amount of restaurants on the doorstep, this was not a big issue to me. I certainly recommend and will return to the V&A.

We had a lovely time at the QV hotel. The food was absolutely exceptional. The breakfast was so delicious including the coffee. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially the wait staff. It was nice to have clean water in the room daily, we received chocolates every night with turn down service. The location was convenient and safe. I also had a massage which was excellent. We would definitely return.

We stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful stay. Having stayed in many five star hotels, this one certainly was up there with one of the best as it maintained character and charm. The staff were super friendly and really helpful. The room was equipped with everything you could possibly need, including rituals toiletries. Our favorite part of the stay was the breakfast, everything fresh and high quality- we loved being able to order off the menu alongside a buffet. The location is also fantastic, just a short stroll from the waterfront. Would highly recommend staying here!

The hotel is located just away from the waterfront in Cape Town, within easy walking distance but with the privacy afforded by its setting
Rooms are very good with spacious bathrooms.
Food for breakfast lunch and dinner is served in the well appointed dining room.
Breakfast can be taken on the outside with views to table mountain.
All the staff are polite and extremely helpful

I wanted to give high rating for this hotel, but we had very unusual circumstances due to the new COVID omicron new stain. We initially booked for 5 nights, but in next day, Saudi embassy has informed us to be in johanzberg before 7, for the evacuation on 8 or 9 or 10
So we spoke the hotel reception, to cancel the rest of the nights and refund our money back, they said it is not refundable! What about this situation, every thing is uncertain, flights were cancelled and we had no choice but to book the stay on this hotel. We came in group, 34 travelers, some had there flights on 5 and 6 so they booked and paid only for 2 nights, unfortunately, for us the our flight is on 9th therefore we booked until 9th and paid full expense in front.
I requested to talk with the manager since Saturday, they said she will come on Monday, and until this moment we couldn’t speak to her or any one from hotel management.
Thank you

From the moment we arrived, the service from all staff was excellent. Having worked in a five star hotel previously myself, the calibre of customer service blew me away - nothing was too much hassle for them.
The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, very well decorated, has the most lovely smell in the foyer with beautiful fresh flowers everywhere and the location is superb.
The breakfast was also amazing with a wide variety of food to choose both at the buffet and on the hot menu.
I would 100% recommend booking here, it is an excellent hotel!!!

We arrived mid morning after an overnight flight from UK. We were warmly welcomed by the staff with a refreshing towel and a cool drink. And the staff in Reception were always friendly and helpful throughout our 3 night stay. Though we were there hours before official check-in they immediately found us a room that was ready for us - which we really appreciated. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and well appointed. There was tea/coffee making facilities and some chocolates were put in our room every evening.
We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis, so we were rather perplexed when after finishing our breakfast the next morning the waitress approached us with a bill. She said very deliberately 'the breakfast is included but not the gratuity'. We've never experienced that in a hotel breakfast before, but thought perhaps this was the system in South Africa (It isn't!). We didn't grudge the girl a tip, but had come down to breakfast without any money. We asked if we could give her a tip the following day, but she said that she wouldn't be there the next day. So, we went back upstairs to get her some money and took it back into the restaurant for her. And of course- she was there the following day! We weren't sure if this was the hotel policy or just some 'initiative' by her to get some extra income as she didn't seem to take a 'bill' over to every table. Perhaps just the more gullible?

The location was ideal close to the Waterfront the social and restaurant centre for Cape Town. The room was outstanding, spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities expected from a hotel of this grade. The breakfast was a delight with a wide range of cooked options prepared while you wait in addition to the buffet. The staff were most attentive with a ready smile, interest in your stay and above all nothing was too much trouble. The whole experience Is highly recommended.

I spent three nights on my first trip to South Africa to see Capetown.
â—†Location
Since this was my first visit to South Africa, I had some concerns, including security, so I had my hotel arrange a hire car to Capetown International Airport.
I was able to meet the driver right away at the airport, and it was a good 20-25 minute drive from the airport to get to the hotel (the driver was very friendly and kind of relaxed me).
The location is so great, one road away from the hotel grounds is the Waterfront area. Waterfront is a very lively area and the atmosphere and security are good, so I was able to shop and walk around with peace of mind, but I really appreciated the accessibility to Waterfront.
The hotel's slightly elevated location overlooking the Waterfront area across the road also provides quiet space despite its proximity to busy Waterfront.
There was good security around the hotel and there was no danger at all during the stay.
â—† Facilities
The interior of the hotel is stylish and clean.
We stayed in the Deluxe Room, which was more than big enough and very comfortable and relaxing. Above all, the bathtub in the bathroom was large and I was very grateful to be able to take a relaxing bath after the long Flights.
Breakfast was a buffet style breakfast in the dining room, but on the terrace you can spend some leisurely time watching the sunrise and Table Mountain. This is highly recommended.
â—†Service
The employees were very friendly and gave me advice on various things.
Our original Reservation for the Cape of Good Hope tour was cancelled at short notice, so we were looking for an alternative tour and we were very grateful that they immediately suggested and arranged a private tour.
I also remember him taking the time to explain his hotel room and facilities at check-in.
There were no uncomfortable scenes at all.
It is a recommended hotel where you can stay with peace of mind, including good security around you.
Before my visit to South Africa, there was a lot of concern about security, but that betrayed me in a good way, and it was a wonderful stay that I will remember.

Please can you tell me more about the gym and how many machines it has and it’s facilities/equipment. Also what size is the swimming pool please.
Many thanks.
Lorraine
Sorry I am unable to tell you if there is a gym and pool. Otherwise this is a fantastic hotel, very central to Waterfront. Very helpful staff.
Not sure but it is truly a wonderful hotel. The bar staff will make you forget all about your airport transfer.
Depends since most safaris are malaria free, so didn’t need to take any pills
We were there in December. Amazing stay at this hotel. We had one of the rooms with a butler. Because we care about the situation, we took two minute showers and no baths. Nobody at the hotel pressured us but we took it upon ourselves to pitch in and do our part. If you want to take 30 minute showers or 3 baths a day, go for it.
