I felt like I was in France the moment I stepped into Labotessa Luxury Boutique Hotel . I mean, how often do you get welcomed by a fragrance gallery of diptyque scents when you check into a hotel?

Not only that--how often do you get a private lift to your hotel room? I went "OMG" from the moment I stepped out of the lift into the high-ceilinged, generously sized suite. I lost count of the number of times I went "OMG" after that. This is coming from someone that writes on and reviews luxury hotels on a professional basis.

The juxtaposition of old-world charm and contemporary style is done beautifully. From the whisky to the Le Creuset stoneware to the Smeg kettle, the attention to detail and design is impeccable.

It's a hotel you don't want to leave.

And may I add that the service was superb? Martijn and Claudine made us feel right at home. And they were attentive and prompt in responding to our every request.

I felt sad when I had to leave the hotel. Really sad.

P.S. I paid for my own stay. #notasponsoredpost

We stayed at Labotessa in November to celebrate our first few days in Cape Town on our honeymoon. We had had a last minute change of plans and Labotessa were brilliant, their collection at the airport made our somewhat stressful arrival much calmer and the welcome at the hotel was so personal and friendly.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with the elevator opening into the suite, absolutely perfect interiors with everything you could need for your stay (including Diptique cosmetics and even a yoga mat!). As it is a boutique hotel they are able to provide such personal and friendly service and were always more than happy to help us with anything such as restaurant recommendations and bookings, hike plans, and even drop offs in the town. The location is great too - within walking distance of lots of cafes, restaurants, bars (Kloof Street, bree street etc).

The Starlings cafe within the hotel is also fabulous and with an all day breakfast service you can have breakfast in bed or room’s lovely lounge area whenever you wake - perfect for a relaxing start to a trip!

Martin and Johan have obviously worked very hard to make Labotessa the beautiful hotel and seamless stay that it is and we would come back in a heartbeat.
Thank you for making our honeymoon so special!

We stayed at Labotessa for 4 nights when visiting Cape Town. Prior to arriving, the hotel Manager helped us plan and book things - he was knowledgable, friendly and super responsive.

The hotel only has 7 rooms, and they are all suites and the lift takes you right into your room. The room was very spacious, the bed and pillows were comfortable and you get access to the hotels Netflix account too! We felt very at home and at ease in the room and we were never bothered by noise or indeed the staff when in the room. We never noticed or bumped into housekeeping but the room was always made and cleaned a couple of times per day.

It is somewhat a bed and breakfast concept as they don’t serve anything but breakfast but this goes from 7/8am until 4pm! So essentially an all day breakfast - which I think is an amazing concept and means you don’t have to rush in the morning or get up and if you don’t normally eat breakfast like me, having more of a brunch / lunch is ideal. The breakfast menu is small but has enough variety to keep you interested and the food is cooked very well.

In the room you have home made hummus (very garlicky!), cheese, crackers and olives as well as soft drinks and a complimentary bottle of wine. I enjoyed these complimentary treats most nights whilst watching tv.

All of the staff are friendly and helpful and the manager and owner were around and always friendly and offering help. We felt more than welcome!

I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Cape Town. We certainly wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

My husband and I stayed at Labotessa for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. Personally greeted by the managers upon arrival, we were taken to our suite which was extremely large, fashionably decorated and very quiet. A nice touch was the complimentary snacks and drinks (including wine) stocked in the minibar. The CBD location was central and we enjoyed many walks to nearby neighborhoods. Breakfast was delicious. Concierge assistance with restaurants was knowledgeable and efficient. We visited friends who were staying at a big, more famous place not too far away and left feeling so pleased we were at Labotessa. The spirit of Cape Town really shines in every detail of the experience here and we'd definitely stay here again when we return!

Amazing and luxurious hotel in a great location. However what makes it stand out is the personal service and attention to detail from Johan and Martijn and the rest of the team. They are on hand for every request and make your life as comfortable and easy as possible. The suite is perfectly presented with complimentary mini bar and Dyptique products provided in the bathroom. The breakfast is great too and there is a nice touch where it is available all day as opposed to the usual small window of time in the morning.
I would highly recommend this hotel and was a perfect end to our holiday.

Unreal! We booked the presidential suite during our very first stay in Cape Town, it was an unbelievable introduction to South Africa. Where do I begin. It was primarily for a birthday celebration and so the accommodation worked well. The hotel is central to Cape Town, with clear views of Table mountain. Literally, the hotel was walking distance from many restaurants. There was a brand new trendy noodle Asian fusion restaurant literally right by the entrance to the hotel which we indulged in. The hotel also has parking accommodation for guests. Right when we got into the suite, it had this Manhattan like vibe with the elevator opening up right into the living room of the bottom floor. There were two master bedrooms on the top floor with a library lounge sofa area nested between the rooms. A balcony connected the master bedrooms, which both had chic bathtubs and extravagant showers. On the bottom floor, there was yet another bedroom, this one with only a shower. There was a luxurious living room with modern art and décor and of course a majestic dining table overlooking the city center. Also, a very nice pool outside on the bottom floor balcony. The property was kept clean at all times, all the chic and modern equipment ranging from new age slick blending machine to the toaster, even the microwave all in harmony with the elegant design of the place, all functioned perfectly. The attendant had unlimited booze in refreshed daily in the fridge and hard liquor in the pantry to utilize at our disposal. There was a constant deluge of lite bites like cheese, fresh fruits, crackers and salami. We had a chef who could make additions to anything including an extensive menu, which was all included. The attendants were all so nice, detail oriented and really good at making us feel taken care of. They often gave recommendations for activities and food. In fact, Martin helped us to make reservation for dinner every night from a list we had! They were also nice enough to organize and discreetly set up balloons and a cake for our birthday celebration! Honestly, this hotel is almost impossible to trump in regard to the value. Highly recommend it! Thank you Martin, Claudine and the rest of the awesome staff! We miss you already! We will definitely be coming back!

It is actually quite hard to find sufficient words to describe our experience of Labotessa and in particular of the outstanding care and service given by Martijn and Johan. All pre-arrival communication was dealt with swiftly, politely and helpfully. We arrange an airport pick up and from the point that we were met at the airport by Martjin to the minute we left the service was impeccable and flawless. We arrived on the relatively early arrival flight from the UK. The team did their very best to get the room ready as soon as physically possible. Whilst we were waiting we were offered tea and coffee and Martjin used the time to give us his very useful insights to Cape Town and the surrounding areas. Once the room was ready (much earlier than the scripted arrival time) we were shown to our beautiful suite. Clearly designed with impeccable tase but with a very clear attention to detail of what modern travellers need. The room was beautifully decorated but the team have even considered the small details such as the room scent - which was a delightful Dyptique diffuser. All of the expected headline review points were great -huge and comfortable beds, great aircon, quiet but central location, spacious and modern bathroom with great shower pressure. The room service was also fantastic as was the quality of the breakfast. I could go on for much longer about the wonderful Labotessa and its' amazing owner, management and team but I'll conclude with "hospitality and excellence personified". Thank you all. We can't wait to come back.

The hotel and rooms are perfect down to the last detail.
We had an absolutely brilliant time with constant smiling faces and friendly service. Great location, very near the company gardens for evening strolls and tons of history visible from the restaurant downstairs while listening to water trickling down the fountain.
Johan and Martin, along with the rest of the team at Labotessa, made every effort to make us feel like we were the only people who mattered.

Great experience, would recommend it to anyone!

It has been forever since I wrote a review on TA, but Labotessa has brought me back to writing one because I simply can't not after a wonderful two night stay to cap off a couple of weeks in Cape Town.

Our group of 4 stayed at the Presidential Suite. From the moment we arrived, we felt like royalty. The owner and the manager came out to greet us and welcomed us to the mezzanine where we did our registration. Sensing that we were tired from our safari adventure, they brought us to our room and into the capable hands of Claudine who introduced us to the wonderful suite. It has a massive kitchen, dining and living area and a balcony with a small dipping pool. My dad, who has mobility issues had to take the room on the main floor, which was small but still very much serviceable. The two upstairs bedrooms were beautiful and so very comfortable.

I have to really thank the staff who were so gracious and kind. As this stay had come at the end of a long trip, we were so tired we asked to take most of our meals at the suite (and why not, it was so nice). They brought everything upstairs to us and we had want of nothing. They even had a cheese board prepared for us every day along with the most amazing hummus in the fridge, which was also well stocked with water, soft drinks and beer. Our wine fridge had such good wines stocked in it along with a nice bottle of bubbly, provided for us since we were also celebrating my dad's birthday.

And speaking of service, the staff here really would go out of their way to help and assist. The cooking staff even came in earlier than usual to prepare us breakfast on our last day as we had to leave earlier than the cafe opening because of our flight.

The location of this hotel is wonderful as well. I really don't have all the words to describe how pleasant and enjoyable our stay was. About the only thing bad was that we had to leave after only a couple of days.

I highly highly recommend staying at Labotessa. I guarantee it will be a highlight of your trip.

A very special place at the heart of Cape Town. We just returned from a 10 nights holiday in South Africa. Ahead of our arrival, the hotel manager Martijn was virtually present to assist us with any questions, recommendations or restaurant bookings. The hotel is situated in one oldest buildings in Cape Town and is beautifully renovated by the owner Johan- a very approachable gentleman that will go the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied with our Labotessa experience. Claudine and Tony will welcome you with a smile each morning or evening and will always be keen to hear about your day in much detail.
Our room was specious and beautifully appointed, the breakfast which is served in adjacent cafe has plenty to choose from- everything was fresh and well cooked (must try the apple cake). The location is perfect and just in the centre of the city. Very special thank you Johan,Martijn, Claudine, Tony and their teams for making it an effortlessly luxurious experience.
Top place and highly recommended, if it was up to us we would be back in an instant.
