Detailed Reviews
Gorgeous George proved to be an inspired choice as a base for our 6 night stay in Cape Town. Gigi’s rooftop was a great place for breakfast and for evening cocktails. We also dined there one evening and it was lively and had a great atmosphere with good food. But what really makes the hotel special is the friendly and professional staff - from the cocktail barmen to the waiters to the housekeeping staff to the doormen to the receptionists - notably Sippo - all were excellent. They sorted out taxicabs, helped us with our golf clubs (we played golf 4 days during our stay). Ubers also proved a good option in the evening for short rides to the great restaurants around Cape Town. We booked our stay direct with the hotel so check out their own website. We had a lovely one bed suite with walk in shower, nice toiletries. A very enjoyable stay.

This February we visited Cape Town and were quests in the Gorgeous George. The setting is very stylish with high ceilings, contemporary finishing and a lot of attention to detail! And then we have not even mentioned the stunning rooftop bar with restaurant....
We received excellent service from from all staff numbers, however especially from the hotel manager regarding a special request. Thank you all for making our stay memorable!

We enjoyed our stay at the Gorgeous George very much. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and so thoughtfully decorated. Many of the Cape Town sights are within walking distance (e.g. W&A Waterfront, Bo-Kaap), which was great given that we were traveling during peak season, when many roads are clogged. I was also very impressed with the help I received booking day tours. Things worked smoothly and on time. Everything is great except for the breakfast service (not the food, which is great, just the service!); it is way too slow. I do not want to wait 20 min. for a cappuccino and 45 min. for my omelette. This poor service is the only reason I’m not giving 5 points.

Great central location with a cool and trendy feel about it. Close to shops and a taxi ride away from all tourist attractions you will want to see in this fantastic city.
I was a bit nervous about being so central especially with the reviews on personal safety, but my advice is to take an Uber/taxi even for the shortest of journeys (our shortest was equivalent to a 5min walk). The hotel staff are always on hand to provide advice and offer assistance, always smiling and happy to help.
Our room was great with stunning decor and facilities. Surprisingly noise wasn’t an issue from outside or from neighbouring rooms.
The roof top restaurant and bar is great although don’t expect stunning views of mountain landscapes. Do however expect an excellent lunch and dinner menu that is cooked to perfection, washed down by some great wines and cocktails, all of which are very reasonably priced. Didn’t use the very small pool on the roof as it looked far too cold.
One gripe is the morning breakfast service. Rold breakfast is from 7am so we arrived exactly then. Unfortunately they weren’t prepared for visitors looking for a quick turnaround and we ended up after 30mins wait being given our cooked breakfast in a take-away box without any cutlery - needless to say it didn’t work, but I appreciated their attempt.
I’d happily go back and the experience would be even better if they were to address some minor issues.

Wonderful stay, 3 times already in two weeks. Don’t get fool with first impression of the lobby, wait until you get to the room. Amazing design, cozy, I feel I’m at home. Clean room and bed, nice shower and toilet with own branded amenities. After this stay, I confirm this boutique hotel are much much better than 5 starts hotel I wasted my money and time to stay. Staff all over the place, housekeeping, reception, resturant, even maintenance staff are all friendly and attentive. Rooftop restaurant is a real passionate, a life resturant, and excellent breakfast and food. Trust me, make this place your home when you come to Capetown, I promise you wont regret!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Gorgeous George. The room managed to walk the line between style and comfort, and had wonderful touches, like free Netflix, delicious minibar snacks. The staff gave us some of the best customer service I've come across in Africa - from a free bottle of MCC, as we were celebrating a birthday; to a valet service when I was struggling to find the parking (which is awkward to find, visitors be warned!!). It felt like no ask was too much, and staff made an effort to anticipate our needs.
Delicious food - whether room service (club sandwich) or breakfast on the roof (shakshuka). The roof top bar is one of the best spots in the city for a cocktail. A truly memorable experience, and we will be back.

Fabulous stay in a very spacious 2 bed suite at this really good looking hotel. All the staff - every one - were incredibly welcoming, cheerful, friendly, professional and couldn't do enough to help us enjoy our 6 night stay. The rooms were spotless, and had great amenities, including real china cups and saucers and loose leaf black tea. Amazing ! We loved GiGi on the roof for breakfast and dinner, and even had some room service a few times too. The food is excellent, as are the cocktails. Fresh, healthy, very generous, and everything served with charm and smiles. Whoever recruits at this hotel is doing a fantastic job. The pool is small, but very good looking, as is the sundeck, but, in our time there, there was never shortage of space or beds. This is a city centre hotel, so if you want a "flop and swim" holiday, this isn't the venue for you. The only downside to the hotel was the noise, a woman sings outside from around 11 - 6 each day, and it penetrates the double glazing, and it's just a noisy area at night, with people out and about and enjoying themselves. Again, if you're looking for a sense of space, calm, quiet and beauty, this isn't the hotel. That said taxis to the V&A cost around £4 ! We were out and about every day and a few evenings too, and the size of and calmness in our suite was a welcome to return to. I highly recommend Gorgeous George, just be aware of the City centre location.

Situated in the CBD of Cape Town this hotel is a perfect stopover for a night. The rooms are really well designed - funky and functional - and all the action happens on the rooftop where there is a bar and restaurant. We had a great dinner and good night's sleep.

Great place, nice hotel but I wouldn’t recommend working there. I was called in last minute to engineer a Jazz gig in the Pink room. I got to the location and was asked to set up stage and strike all equipment.(which wasn’t part of the original agreement as it is a 4+ man job), however, I still did the job perfectly well. The show was smooth and there were no complaints from the band members or audience.
However, when i sent my invoice, I was told to decrease my rates and then told that the management was considering not paying me at all, based off the judgement of someone who wasn’t present at the event. I Found the finance manager Terrance Pearce to be the most unprofessional and rude person I’ve ever had to do business with. Its been 17 days since the job was done and I’ve yet to receive any payment or communication around the matter.
I strongly urge anyone who they book for sound in the Pink room to be very careful, the abuse of power is clear. If they have done it to me, most likely they have done it to other workers too. Please be Careful.

+1
Not only is the hotel well located and immaculate, the staff are formidable. They make you feel as if Gorgeous George is your home and ensure that your stay is comfortable. The rooms are large and well appointed with the necessary amenities. The access to Ignite gym is an amazing perk (the facility is guaranteed to satisfy anyone who works out).
Breakfast is delicious & is served until a reasonable hour. The beverage list is vast and appetizing.
We can’t say enough about how wonderful all of the staff are - I can confidently recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to comfortably stay in the centre of Cape Town and feel spoiled.
