The location of the hotel is perfect, a short Uber ride from the center, a laundrette nearby, a bar and a restaurant just across the (free) parking lot. Delicious breakfast, comfy beds. But Ruth is the one who made the place a 5* place. She took the time to give us all those tips and information about the town, she helped us with anything we needed. Thank you, Ruth :)

The parking for this guest house caused us a great deal of anxiety as the car was left in the open in a public square. There was a security guard but we were still very worried as this current day South Africa unfortunately. The guest house could be improved in terms of decor. The rooms had a must smell because of the carpet. It was neat and clean but on the first day the bedding had a very strong cigarette odour. The shower is in a bath tub, which was a bit difficult for older persons like me. The rooms do not have a noise barrier and as we were right at the entrance to the stairs we were disturbed by late night guests. Breakfast had a very minimal choice and you did not serve yourself. The staff were very helpful even going to the extent to meet us at a local petrol station as we could not find the address easily. The guest house has a fantastic view of the mountain and major tourist attractions are very accessible. I was not happy that no staff were on duty at night and there was just a telephone number for emergencies. The room was very basic and after road trip through Namaqualand and all the other wonderful guest houses we stayed in , this was rather a let down. However, I do think with some attention to the matters raised above, this could be a very desirable establishment.

Dear Savithree, Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback and value your the information as we strive to enhance our product offering. We appreciate your safety concerns but rest assured that the guests are never left 'alone' as the security it there on the square and later inside the lodge throughout the night. We trust that you have many fond memories of your visit to Cape Town and hope to see you again in the future. Kind regards, Ruth

The location of the accommodation is extremely good, Dunkley square also provides entertainment in the evening, while the city center is a few minutes' walk away (during the day). The atmosphere of the rooms is great, the view of the Table Mountain from the rooms with a balcony is fantastic (not all rooms face the mountain, and they don't have a balcony either, but they are larger and have a refrigerator). The breakfast is delicious and varied, and the kindness and helpfulness of the staff is extraordinary. We'll be back!

We booked an apartment with airconditioning and we got one with a fan, ground level with a view on the parking. It was impossible to swap for the one we booked for. The manager was never present and never answered to our requests and messages, even when Booking.com contacted her and that she was supposed to contact us.
The location is great and some rooms have a view on the mountains. There is a café and a restaurant on the square (though they may be noisy until late in the night) and the parking is free and safe. Breakfast is average.

Our room at Ikhaya lodge was very comfortable. Everthing was clean and well prepared. The decoration of the whole lodge is excellent - using natural materials and ethnic designs. What is very nice about the room is the covered balcony with chairs, a table and an assortment of magazines. The staff were all very pleasant. One small thing but difficult to alter is the noise from the next room. Probably the walls are too thin. Luickily they were just talking! The position of the Lodge and the views of Table mountain - wonderful. It's near museums but is in a quiet neighbourhood. The square has two good places to eat if need be. A man is emplyed to watch the cars; take small value notes to give tips where necessary.

The room looks directly over a car park and has a pub and restaurant about 100m away. It is incredibly noisy until at least 2am. There is no privacy so one has to keep the curtains drawn all day and night. this makes the room dark. The sun beats on the room all day, so the heat is unbearable. There is no air-conditioning so the fan blows hot air around. My bathroom smelt so terrible I could not use it. The wi-fi didn't work properly, so I couldn't use my devices. There was no bar fridge and the kitchen closed at 6pm. I walked to buy some milk, but it was off by the next morning. The breakfast was so below standard, I can't believe anyone raved about it. It was the worst experience ever.

The Ikhaya Lodge was a lovely little place with a great location. Sadly, I overestimated my ability to handle the heat in Cape Town in February so had to check out before my stay was over and move to a hotel with AC. It's understandable that the hotel was unable to reimburse me for the remaining nights, as their website is clear that they don't have AC. I did my best with window open and the fan on, but my sleep was awful and I came away with a ton of bug bites. I would totally stay there again, but only in the winter. The staff were lovely people and very helpful. I would encourage the hotel to invest in AC moving forward as I hear these heat waves are not completely unusual.

We had a lovely time over 12 days in Ikhaya Lodge during March. The location is close to the town centre and the local area has lovely restaurants, bars, cafés, etc. The Company Gardens close by was great for stretching legs and finding shade, with lots of flowers, birds, etc.

The service was warm and helpful and the fresh, filling breakfasts set us up for the day!

Highly recommended.

The hotel manager Ruth is great! Totally friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small, a little old and could use a refresh. The furniture, at least in the wintergarden, was also very frail. However, the view of Table Mountain and the good location made up for a lot. The service was sometimes good but also sometimes bad-tempered and very forgetful. We always had to be reminded of drinks or food that were still missing.

Guesthouse ideally located for walking the streets of CapeTown. My 11-year-old son and I stayed at home for two weeks. Ruth, the manager, warmly welcomed us and helped us intelligently plan the best tourist activities for my son and I. The whole team was very helpful and attentive at all times. We felt like a family. We could easily find meals for lunch and evening around the guesthouse where only breakfast is offered. A microwave and dishes are at your disposal to reheat dishes bought outside.
A very good Greek restaurant, a bar and a grocery store are present on the wooded square of the district. Finally, we had a panoramic view of the Table Mountain chain and Lion's head. Trailheads can be started on foot from the Guesthouse.
In short, we had a very pleasant time in Capetown thanks to the wonderful meetings made by Ikahaya. Thank you Ruth and her whole team.
