We read through the reviews on Trip Advisor, and chose The Tree House Boutique Hotel due to the excellent feedback posted. And it all proved right on the mark! The staff all make you feel like family... everyone is friendly and there to make sure your stay meets or exceeds expectations. We particularly want to mention Elton and Patricia, with whom we had the most contact. They love what they do, and are obviously very proud of the place. The rooms are nicely appointed with all needed amenities. Albeit a bit noisy with traffic in the rooms facing the street, the windows dull the noise sufficiently so that it was not bothersome to us. Breakfast was outstanding, with a buffet setup filled with goodies, then a custom menu for omelettes and the like. Coffee machine is excellent! In the evening we would get a glass of wine (there's a setup and someone is always on duty to serve this... cost is nominal) and sit in the comfortable living room area or on the patio. Laundry came back quickly, and at such reasonable prices. The hotel is nicely situated, about 1/4 mile downhill to a main road with many restaurants and shops. We had wonderful conversations with Elton throughout our stay, and he was so concerned when our ride to the airport did not show up on time, calling the company to make sure all would be taken care of. We simply can't say enough about this hotel, and will come back in a heartbeat the next time we are in Cape Town!

We stayed at the Tree House Boutique hotel for 3 nights, and it was our first stop on our vacation in South Africa. The hotel is uniquely situated, and I read reviews that mentioned this, but it didn’t make sense until I saw it. If you Uber or use GPS to get to the hotel, it will take you up a small road that leads up a hill to the hotel entrance at a dead-end. This will be the entrance you use regularly to go out, and this is where ubers will come get you. If you have a rental car, you will end up parking up above the property on the main road in their secure area.

We had the Lookout Suite, and I would highly recommend this room to anyone. It is very big with two balconies and your view over the waterfront is outstanding. The room is quite large - with a good sized bathroom. There was no road noise and I would highly recommend staying in a room facing the same direction as this one.

We were very impressed with the breakfast every morning, as they had plenty of fruit, breads, croissants and cereal, and the room in which you dine is cute and comfortable. You could opt for a hot breakfast, but we try to stay healthy and ate simply.

We enjoyed being a bit away from the waterfront area, and we enjoyed that was more like a neighborhood than tourist central, and for us, the 10 minute daytime walk to the waterfront was fine. We got Uber’s at night to get back and it was quick and cheap. If you want to be in the heart of the tourist activity, you may want to consider other options. Service here was very good, the staff very friendly and willing and able to help you if needed. Since we are quite self sufficient travelers, we didn’t need them for much, but they always offered assistance. Would recommend staying here to anyone!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful and detailed review. We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at The Tree House, and in Cape Town. We always get wonderful compliments about The Lookout Suite and it genuinely is one of the best views in Cape Town stretching from Robben Island on one side right around to the harbour on the other side, with Table Bay and the Waterfront in the middle. It is always wonderful to read when our guests share out excitement about this suite. I am delighted to read your wonderful comments about our service, our great professional team, and our breakfast and the intimate settings throughout the hotel. I will share these words with the team who always appreciate being singles out for compliment, thank you for this. Please do stay in touch and let us know when you are planning a return trip to Cape Town and it's surrounding areas. We would love to have an opportunity to welcome you back to Chapter House, or to another one of the Living Journey Collection of Boutique Hotels. Great base for the waterfront, only 15 minutes away. A few restaurants nearby and a Woolworths, which like m and s.
Spacious bathroom too, coffee machine was great for the morning and tea and coffee is offered freely when you return and some cake too in the seating area. Nice treat after a day out. Great boutique hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. You can buy bus passes, cable car to the mountain, etc from reception.
Parking is at the rear on the high level road, staff open it up for you.
Delicious breakfast too.

The room was beautiful and very clean, the balcony allowed for some fresh air and had a small table and chairs outside to enjoy the breeze. The robes were extremely comfortable and the shower head made sure we had a lovely time keeping clean. The shower gels/shampoos provided were also a treat and left us feeling refreshed and soft. We were also able to watch some sports channels on the TV before bed. The cupboard space was ample and the safe was easy to use.

Those were all positive points but our highlights:
The selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolates were absolutely amazing in the rooms but even more extensive ranges were offered for breakfast or anytime around the super comfortable lounging area. The fruit was fresh and tasted amazing, the fruit juices were delicious and the wide range of breakfast options made our foodie hearts skip a beat. The staff was especially knowledgeable of all the different teas, how they were made and what makes them unique. The continental breakfast had a lovely selection and we took a bit of everything and were amazed by the consistent high quality. The cooked breakfast was just as fantastic with one of my favourite eggs benedicts I have ever eaten. The eggs always came out perfect to the order which is very rare even at well known breakfast restaurant. They also have a lovely spoil, their 3pm cake of the day... and every cake was, again with the theme, absolutely delicious. One of the days there was the best carrot cake we had ever tasted. And on top of all of this was the amazing staff, they made the whole stay feel very personal and homely but as if we were doted on. They were very quick with any requests we had and laundry was done on the same day.

We were sad to leave! On the day we left, the hotel gifted us with matching locally made bracelets which really nicely wrapped up our amazing experience. We will be back every time we are back in Cape Town!

No Netflix was our only major downside. We tried to use the smart TVs browser to login with our own account but the smart TVs browser could not handle Netflix streaming and there was no Netflix app we could use.

The parking was ample but some of it was on the side of the road (Its in a cul-de-sac so no through traffic) which was okay but the road is also very narrow as is and even more narrow when cars are parked on it. This made it very difficult for us when the car rental company ran out of small cars and could only give us a large Double Cab 4x4. I ended up having to reverse out of the very long road because there was simply not enough space to turn for a large vehicle. We noted small hatch backs had no problem though and it also wasnt a bit problem when using services like Uber

Dear OJ Thank you for taking the time to post such a wonderful and extensive review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time in Cape Town, and at The Tree House Boutique Hotel. You really did pick up on so many of our 'special little touches'. The teas and coffees are a real treat, and we have sent some of the team to be trained as tea concierges and it is great when they get a chance to use their specialised knowledge. The same applies for the cake and the breakfast - two areas that we try hard to differentiate ourselves with so it is wonderful to read how much you appreciated these. The bracelets are part of our education outreach programme called "Ease the Journey". For each guest who stays in one of our hotels, we make a contribution into a fund which sponsors educational programmes in and around Cape Town. It is great to read that you would like to return. Please do stay in touch and let us know you are planning your next trip to Cape Town. We would love to welcome you back to The Tree House, or indeed to another one of The Living Journey Collection of Boutique Hotels in Franschhoek and Hermanus. Warm regards and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Lorraine

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the Tree House Boutique hotel. The staff were always on hand to see to our needs. It had a lovely feel - some nature in the midst of the city. Restaurants within easy walking distance. We also had an awesome run around the stadium and along the promenade to Sea Point. The hotel was full otherwise we probably would have moved rooms to just be away from the road noise. Room was large. Lovely shower with an "outdoor" feel

We stayed one night at the Tree House Boutique Hotel before boarding a cruise. We chose the hotel based on reviews, photos, and the convenient location to the waterfront area. I can't speak highly enough about the amazing staff--personable, professional, hospitable, and kind.

Our king room was spacious, clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The bathroom is enormous. I don’t believe there are air conditioning vents in the bathroom, but it was a non-issue.

Toward the end of our cruise, we emailed the hotel to ask if we could pay to store our bags there for much of the day (morning disembarkation and evening flight). Not only did they graciously let us store our bags at no charge, but they also provided access to a shower and were very hospitable.

Additionally, they arranged for us to be picked up at the cruise port and later dropped off at the airport. The transfer cost was reasonable and exactly on time.

Every staff person we encountered was wonderful, especially Elton. The Tree House Boutique Hotel wrote the book on gracious hospitality and genuine warmth. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on our next visit to Cape Town. FIVE STARS

We appreciate you having chosen The Tree House Boutique Hotel for your pre-cruise stay in Cape Town, and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We really try to differentiate ourselves by creating magical moments of service excellence, and The Tree House team is really outstanding at this, and Elton is a true born service guru who just loves getting this right, and genuinely lives through the joy he can pass to others. It is really wonderful when they get this feedback and I know that they will be very appreciative that you took time to put pen to paper. My husband and I stayed at Treehouse Boutique Hotel for our honeymoon visit in September 2021. This hotel was booked for as part of our package through a travel agency, and we were very delighted by our stay!

To start, the entire property is extremely clean and well kept. Coming from the US we were uncertain how COVID protocols would be in Cape Town, and Treehouse was exemplary with their sanitation. Sterilization, temperature checks, and general safety precautions were upheld through our entire stay.

The location of this property is also great - It was convenient walking distance to the V&A waterfront, close by to cute neighborhood restaurants and stores, and anything further was no more than a 5-10 minute Uber ride away. Great for any visitors looking for convenience to Cape Town’s main attractions.

The hotel’s breakfast was always tasty. In addition to continental options, the hotel also offers plenty of hot breakfast plates. Each dish we had during our stay was delicious and satisfying. The cute bar area was also convenient for when we wanted a drink before and post-dinner.

Finally, the biggest standout for my husband and I during our stay was the incredible staff. Each member that we interacted with was attentive and generous. Elton and Gilbert were especially helpful during our stay and were always available for recommendations and great conversations.

Cannot recommend Treehouse Boutique hotel enough!

Dear Jordan Thank you for your wonderful recommendation and stunning review. We were just delighted to be part of your special trip to Cape Town, and so pleased that you enjoyed your time with at The Tree House Boutique Hotel. Thank you for the special mention on our COVID protocols. It is a fine balance between being rigorous in ensuring that everyone stays safe, and being overly intrusive. We spent many hours discussing how to get this just right so are very happy that this worked so well for you. I have shared your special words with the team, who always appreciate it when their service and passion for excellence is mentioned. Gilbert and Elton are particularly appreciative at having been singled out and mentioned by name. Thank you also for this. Please do stay in touch. We would love to welcome you back to The Tree House again, or indeed to another one of The Living Journey Collection in Cape Town, Franschhoek and Hermanus. Warm regards Lorraine

When I say this place is perfection, I mean it. The location is great, the facilities are fantastic, but the staff… oh man the staff are absolutely the best.

Let me break this down into a few categories -

Hotel itself: as a lover of non-chain hotels, I can’t say enough positive things about the tree house. The thought that has gone into each and every inch of this hotel is perfectly calculated. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are stellar. The bed was comfortable, the room was stocked with everything we needed and then some.

The location: 15-20 minute walk down to the V&A waterfront, with plenty of restaurants and shops around. Don’t want to walk? The staff will be glad to arrange transportation.

The staff: every single person we interacted with was kind, attentive, and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a wonderful time. Elton and the rest of the team chatted with us during breakfast, made sure we had everything we needed, and took special care when we requested laundry service.

Special shout out: we booked two tours through reception, the transfer tour to Hermannus (the Big Splash) and the Peninsula tour. We loved both, but the peninsula tour was something out of this world. Ishmael was our driver all week and he made us feel like lifelong friends. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history, sites, and culture and shared everything he could with us. There simply are not enough positive words to share about our experiences.

If I could do it all again, which I hope to one day, I’d stay for more than 5 nights as I felt we only scratched the surface on what Cape Town had to offer. I’d 100% stay at the tree house or one of their sister properties every time.

Wishing the staff nothing but the best and thanks again for the wonderful, memorable experience.

I have shared your comments with Elton and the hotel team, they love getting such passionate feedback so they will be delighted, as indeed will Ismail and the touring team. This is in a great location for exploring Cape Town. It is a 5-7 min walk to the V&A and only a 15-20 min to the centre of the CBD.

Car parking is first come first served, but there is also on Street parking which is free.

Rooms are spacious, large beds and a lovely large terrace. We had a seaview room, although the trees pretty much block the sea view, so try and be higher up .

Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Nice little pool and deck area with sunloungers. Always easy to get one while we were there.

Staff offered a good service and were very helpful. Would stay again when next in Cape Town

We stayed at the Tree House for 5 nights in July and again for our last night in South Africa. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful, particularly Elton and Evance who helped to organise a peninsula day trip. and tickets for Robben Island. The breakfast is very good, and location is at the top of a steep hill, just far enough away from the busy centre to be reasonably quiet, but a short Uber ride / 15 minute walk into the Waterfront. The Superior Sea View rooms on the 3rd floor were very good, better than the Mountain View room we stayed for the final night on the 1st. You should plan to eat out in the evening during winter, or get a delivery.

All of our hotels do offer all day dining, which I am sure that you are aware of, but being in one of the best restaurant cities in the world, we find that most guests prefer to discover the restaurant delights of the Mother City. I hope that you enjoyed this too. Please stay in touch and we look forward to seeing you again. Regards Lorraine

Yes - there are two entrances to the hotel. One is on High Level Road, which is a main road, and one is on Vesperdene Road, which is a side street. Larger vehicles find it easier to park on High Level Road (30 A) and walk down the few steps to Vesperdene. Please let me know if you need anything further. Regards
