Me and my partner stayed 16 nights at the grey and it was incredibly comfortable, fresh with great service. Always welcome, comfortable beds, clean rooms and a sky bar. There is a small rooftop pool that guests have free access to. If it occurs to take a dip, you can go down to the reception and they will open you.

The view is breathtaking with a view towards Table mountain. The location is also safe with cozy cafes in the immediate area.

We were in room 6 and the light from the corridor was the only negative. As the room is below the stairs to the sky bar, you could hear pretty well from satisfied guests when they were going home.

This is a lovely boutique hotel, the location is fabulous with a mall right next door and a huge “Spar” supermarket. The rooms are spotlessly clean with lovely linen on lovely comfortable beds, the shower is fabulous. The staff you could not find friendlier or more helpful, there is a safe in the room and a tv (which we did not use) and the WiFi is very good. No power outages as the supply is on the same circuit as the local hospital. There is parking right outside (payable) and a big car park thirty meters to your right as you leave the reception. It’s very safe to walk around here with restaurants on your doorstep. The rooftop bar and the adjoining piano bar are lovely, the piano bar has live music which is excellent. My only minor criticism is there’s no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast is very nice, would absolutely stay here again. Thank you to all the lovely staff here.

The Grey is located in a convenient area of Cape Town, close to some of the well known tourist hotspots with some lovely restaurants in close proximity. The staff are very welcoming and the room is mostly what you should expect from a boutique hotel at this price. There is limited room around the bed for luggage and the room is not well insulated from noise in the corridor and adjoining rooms. There was no tea/coffee station in the room, besides this the room is comfortable and the staff attend to it each day. I would suggest taking an inventory of the mini bar on a daily basis as we were almost charged for items which we had not used. On one occasion, as I was leaving the manager offered me an umbrella to take with me as it was raining. The wind in Cape Town can be severe at times and whilst attempting to be careful with the umbrella the wind broke one of its arms, I was subsequently charged for its replacement at what was an inflated cost compared to similar items. The manager explained that this was due to it having the hotel’s branding. I do think it would have been better to be forewarned of this potential cost and the manager agreed that as a learning point.

Very friendly staff. The room was a bit on the small side though. Parking was a problem and guests with their own vehicles must manage their parking. I suggest management make an arrangement with the public parking across the road to be included in ones stay. Limited tv channels with no news channel which I found slightly annoying. Overall a nice stay close to everything Cape Town offers.

It was a great pleasure to stay in this hotel! The staff is great, breakfasts are delicious. The view from the roof top is amazing 😍
The room was very nice and clean, bathroom is small, but all necessary stuff is there. Free water is available, also you can ask the staff for the additional one
Highly recommend!

Had a great stay at the Grey! The rooms were modern and spacious, with very comfy beds and a good sized bathroom with steady hot water. The location was perfect, nestled on a quiet street but only a block from main thoroughfares and close to all the places you want to visit. The staff were excellent, helping me with all my queries during my stay. Strongly recommend the Grey as a place to stay in Capetown!

It was all good! We had been staying for a week in an apartment around the corner in De Waterkant. When they could not accommodate us for an extra night at the end of our stay, they recommended The Grey. Our one night stay was great. Staff was helpful, storing luggage before and after checkout, arranging airport transport, and making a phone call about a tourist activity. The bed was super comfortable and shower in small bathroom was great. Waterkant is a great location for restaurants and other activity. Has a special charm, neighborhood feel . Only giving 4 rather than 5 stars because it was noisy. The Grey has both a Sky Bar and a Piano Bar and live music every night. From our front room number 10 we could hear the music as if we were patrons. Have to say though that the music was good and it did end at midnight.

I had a pleasant stay in this cozy and clean room, equipped with all the essentials. While the mini bar is convenient, I found better value for snacks at the Cape Quarter mall just next door. The hotel’s location is ideal—there are plenty of charming restaurants and cafés within safe walking distance. However, it can be a bit noisy in the evenings, and on my second day, there was some loud drilling in the building. Thankfully, I was able to escape the noise by heading out, but I’m not sure how long it lasted. The rooftop bar offers stunning views of the city, though unfortunately, it wasn’t operational during my stay. Overall, the hotel provides excellent value for money, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend this spot for solo travelers, though the rooms might feel a bit snug for couples. Thank you to the staff for making my stay so welcoming!

I dont recommend this hotel to anyone who cares about value for money. I booked a room with Table Mountain view. The room was very humid, to the point where there was a smell of dampness in the room. It was poorly lit, with no direct sunlight into the room.
I called a day before my arrival to find out if i could shorten my tay by one day, and was told it was absolutely fine, only to find out that there is a strict zero cancellation policy and i was billed in full for an extra night and breakfast anyway.
The sky terrace, a highlight of this hotel, was closed, but there is no information about this on the website.
Lastly, there were refurbishment works going on for the entire duration of my stay, meaning i had to book a coworking space to be able to work quietly during this business trip.

WOW, my husband and I stayed in this hotel for a week (we worked remote, and also did some tourist things). It hurt to leave. The staff was SO amazing, sweet, they made us feel like we were old friends. The rooms were large, and clean and comfortable. The pool on the top is small, but still a nice little area to lounge. The location is walkable (in safe hours) to the V&A, and lots of places to eat and even a small grocery store a minute or two away. Everything was perfect here.
