I have purchased a wiki deal spa/massage & lunch voucher to celebrate my birthday & my friends birthday. On my birthday yesterday, 19 April 2021, I have experienced such bad service. Upon my arrival the security guard and front desk lady were very unfriendly, rushed me to get signed in and get scanned. I was told that the hotel has no Wifi by the front desk lady:( she than escorted me to the Casarina on the 1st floor. The ladies at the front desk was so unprofessional did not greet politely, no eye contact nor did they make me feel welcome. I was just asked for my voucher number & was told to take a seat. Whilst I was waiting for my friend to arrive I asked whether there was a bar area or sitting area where I can smoke and I was told no I have to smoke outside the front gate entrance, like really? A beautiful hotel with a pool deck, but we were not allowed to use the hotel's amenities.. The lunch was not too bad. After lunch we went for our massages. Maintenance work / drilling was performed whilst having our massages, spoiling the tranquil music and the relaxation of the treatment. I was furious as this was a special day for me to relive & relax, but turned out to be a very stressful disappointing experience, definitely not what I’m used too at a hotel of this caliber. I would never return to the Cape Royale again as this was my worse ever experience with very poor customer service.

Such a beautiful building and location for a hotel in Cape Town but unfortunately spoiled by extremely rude and aggressive staff, the guy managing the security cameras(overweight and blue shirt) behaves like they just picked me out from the ghetto, very disappointing standards but this is South Africa.

The accommodation was booked for 3 adults one child . My kids had to sleep on the sleeper couch however the bedding was not covered. The cushions had no covers too . Only one toilet roll in room when I called for more they told me they only check into hotel after 10 am . The kitchen stove rim of the oven fell off a lot. I didn’t use the stove even. Overall the suite is beautiful would just advise them to put linen on the back up bedding no one wants to sleep with a raw open duvet and cushion . Parking was sufficient and private. I would stay again. But not with my kids. As their part of the stay was uncomfortable. Our bed was fine . I did enjoy the concierge calling me to stay in touch with our check in and she was only a WhatsApp away. They just need to have house keeping on duty in case of a need as in toilet roll. Or make sure that the rooms as well stocked at least with 2 rolls

It was my birthday weekend, so this trip to Cape Town was very special to me. The stay at The Cape Royale made it extra special...great location great service. They just need to fix the pool and reopen the rooftop bar.

We got to the Cape Royal hotel, on time (10 min early) for our pre-booked spa/massage experience. On arrival we went up to the counter and our name was ticked off, we were told to wait outside the reception area and we would be called, we followed the instruction and waited outside. After 20min I started to get concerned as other couples who were arriving after us were being helped first. I then went inside to the reception and asked again, "how does this work?" I was told they are sanitizing the area and someone will be with us shortly. Then saw yet again another couple who arrived after us being helped first, so it was clear to me there was no system. We had no seating and were standing outside, eagerly awaiting to be called yet nobody ever came. I then asked to speak to a manager as it was hot, our legs were hurting and it was stressful watching other couples jumping in front of us. The manager came out and then got us in next, the massage was very basic, it seems they did not know what they were doing? The ladies kicked over a portable fan in the room, the fan was blowing loud and was drowning out the tranquil music. The massage was not an hour as promised. All this from a 5 star hotel? I was very disappointed. This was not the relaxing experience promised to us.
