The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa stands out for its serene, picturesque setting with stunning ocean views, though it's a distance from city highlights. Guests commend the comfortable rooms with their views and the hotel's classic ambiance, despite some opinions of them being small or the decor outdated. The luxury amenities, including a spa and dining options, receive praise, but there are remarks about spa constraints and room service inconsistencies. While staff attentiveness is often highlighted, there are mixed feelings on value for money and cleanliness standards.

12A was simply incredible. The first thing that comes to mind with 12A is the sensational views. The location of the property was magnificent (acknowledging we rented a car) as it was far enough away from the hustle & bustle of Camps Bay, V&A or Table Mountain but close enough to get there in no time. We thought the décor of the hotel was very unique and “classic old fashion” and enjoyed our large breakfast with a great view.

We also really enjoyed the free snacks, water & wine bottle in our hotel room! One other very nice touch was our flight wasn’t until 9pm and they allowed us to use their spa to shower before we left for the airport.

While 12A is not cheap, we did find a much cheaper rate on Agoda (Classic Room) than on 12A’s website. The room was quite small (probably because we booked on Agoda) but when you are exploring most of the day or using the great facilities at 12A, it didn’t matter to us at all! We would definitely try to stay at 12 Apostles when we come back to Cape Town!

Our stay at the Twelve Apostles was just incredible. We stayed here on the last night of our three week trip, and wished we had the chance to stay longer. The hotel is in a beautiful location right on the ocean with iconic views of Cape Town. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed brunch sitting outside on the patio watching the waves crash down. The service was above and beyond anything we've experienced before - truly five star, they were even able to accommodate our late checkout, which helped us feel so relaxed before our 24 hour journey back home. A big thank you to Byron, who ensured that we were well taken care of at the Leopard Bar, and even surprised my husband with a birthday drink. They made his birthday even more special with a bottle of champagne and pastries upon arrival in the room. Twelve Apostles has a truly special place in our travel memories - it's one of those hotels you just don't want to leave, and will be our go to hotel on all future stops in Cape Town.

Two nights on a Cape Road trip. Arrived 2pm and car unloaded and valet parked. We were expertly checked in and given Room 102 which had a view to die for and a complementary bottle of wine. Dinner in Azure restaurant with a tasting menu of five courses for SAR825 each. Used free shuttle to Cape Town.
They also sent a complementary bottle of wine to out next hotel the Mount Nelson.
Everyone at the 12A was so helpful and room servicing was tip top.
Would visit again to sit in the sun and watch the ocean. Windows heavily sound proofed so no problems at night with road noise.

1) The spa was dirty. There were dead cockroaches in the shower, dirty crockery on every surface, and the surfaces were sticky from spilled beverages.
2) The spa is tiny. The "tranquility room" consisted of 4 loungers facing each other. If you are alone, and there is a couple across you, it can feel very awkward. Especially if you're there for tranquility rather than socialising. The jacuzzi has a maximum occupancy of 1. The other jacuzzi was a bit bigger but was occupied by a couple making out with each other. The salt water pool is in a dark dinghy corner and can admit 2 people. The changing room is tiny and there are no actual seperate rooms to change in. It felt more like a tiny gym locker room than a spa. I walked in on someone with her bits and pieces out and about, and she and I were both startled. Not the spa for you, if you're not an exhibitionist.
3) The facilities are unisex, and the couples packages happen in the same area. If you're a solo female, be aware that there is a chance you could be surrounded by men. Or by couples who love a bit of PDA.
4) The treatment rooms are along the same corridor as the change room, and at the end of the corridor is the buffet. As a result, during your treatment, there is so much external noise from dishes clanging, people greeting each other, clients being thanked before they leave their rooms - everything is audible that it made it impossible to actually relax. Someone also thought it would be ok to knock at the door to ask the masseuse something in the middle of a treatment. Really ruined the massage.
5) No windows in the entire spa. The reason I booked at this spa is because of the rave reviews of the view. You can see NOTHING from the spa. It's small, dark, dinghy and windowless. Even cruise ship spas are bigger and better.

In summary: Don't waste your money on this spa. There are many better alternatives.

The clientele is mostly in the hotel for 2 days, so there is a lot of chaos and the waiting time at the reception is far too small. Even the superficial friendliness of the employees is of no use. In general, the hotel is full of employees who have a complete lack of concept, seem to have no organization and are often overwhelmed, for example they are pushed away when you call the reception. This also applies to restaurants and housekeeping.

The house itself is getting considerably old. Patina and old, worn furniture are standard, including in the restaurants and rooms. Our air conditioning was broken, hummed every minute and despite a complaint it was neither fixed nor offered a room change. Sleep was hard to think about. The replacement of coffee and tea for the room furnishings took place erratically, as did the replacement of towels. Service employees talk in the hallways and slam doors, even in the evenings and early mornings. In the main restaurant the staff is constantly talking loudly to each other.

The food in the restaurants was of an upscale standard, but unfortunately it was just an effort. Only the steak dishes can shine, but that's not enough for the standard. Breakfast is similar, with only diluted orange juice when it's full.

My husband and I chose the 12 Apostles as our wedding venue! It was the most dreamy day.

We live in Abu Dhabi and had been planning this wedding for almost 3 years due to Covid. There were many ups and downs that were out of our control but our wedding planner, Sally, was so supportive throughout the entire process. Planning a wedding from abroad is not easy but Sally was with us every step of the way. There were many emails and zoom meetings that she was very attentive to. Once arriving in Cape Town she met with us before our big day to go through everything and show us the venue. She even got us checked into our honeymoon sweet the night before and on our wedding day she was so organized handling any issues allowing myself and hubby to have a relaxing wedding day. Right up until the day I was able to stay in contact with Sally and she honestly thinks of every single little detail making your special day flawless.

The entire day ran so smoothly. We were either on schedule or early. I never felt stressed or overwhelmed and we had such a beautiful day.

We had our reception in the Fynbos garden which was absolutely stunning, we were then able to have our photos taken at the beach just a short drive down the road. Our reception in the Atlantic Marquee was gorgeous! The views and the venue are unmatched and it gave our day such a beautiful romantic feel.

Some of our guests stayed with the hotel and they were very well taken care of. The breakfast offered at the hotel was delicious and we had a small reception/family dinner the night before the wedding and it was wonderful! Of course our reception dinner was fabulous too.

The staff at 12A are so attentive and welcoming. They really know how to take of their guests always paying special attention to small details.

I highly recommend choosing the 12 Apostles for your dream wedding. If I could do it all over again I would in a heartbeat. This is a day we will never forget, it was just perfect!🤍

We stayed at 12A on our way back from a week's holiday in Hermanus, so as to break the journey for our little one. We booked a luxury suite with stunning sunset views, & was welcomed with fabulous bubbly & snacks in our room. My daughter was so impressed with all the kiddies amenities. It's an intimate boutique hotel such that you never really want to leave. Our spa treatments were devine including the heated pools inside. We had some minor issues with breakfast & dinner but the Manager on charge was quick to remediate them to suite our preferences. Movie night was a lovely experience with popcorn & hot chocolate from Leonardo. From a covid perspective, everything was adequately sanitized with staff also taking safety protocols. My daughter loved her little goodie pack from Prince & as such requested we come back in Summer. So glad we got to experience such luxury & hospitality.

The only con is that the rooms can be noisy in the afternoons with passing traffic due to the location of 12A however it dies down from 6pm. So just enquire on your room location depending on your preferences.

It's a lovely hotel with the most amazing views. On arrival we were offered a welcome drink and chose MCC. We were shown to our room and to be honest, I know you have to pay for a view, but we ended up with a room looking onto a wall. That wall at night was lit up so bright, we had to ask them to turn down the lights because we could not sleep. The "curtains" were shutters and the shutters did not shut out the light from that wall. That was a little disappointing.

We received a complimentary bottle of champagne as it was a milestone birthday that we had booked this weekend for. We had also asked for king feather pillows as those are our standard back home. We did get them and were grateful. They did help in getting us to sleep some of the first night. the second night, the hotel did manage to turn down the lights on the wall outside and it was easier to get to sleep.

The staff were lovely and friendly, extremely helpful and made the stay very pleasant. My only other complaint was that the floor needed sweeping and didn't seem to get swept the entire time we stayed there. I kept having to dust off my feet before getting into bed.

Otherwise, the food was excellent. We chose sushi the first night and it was spectacular. The second night we chose to go out for a meal instead of dining in.

The breakfasts were spectacular and incredibly inviting. One could quite easily gorge onself on the brekkies alone, but I chose to hold back for the second day's brekky as we were going out for a celebratory lunch and I needed to save some space for the delectable meal we were heading for. You could easily have breakfast and not eat again until dinner. The choice is yours. The decor is elegant and comfortable with a certain class to it.

All in all, a good experience, but if you really want to feel the 5-Star experience, you will have to pay for the view, the meals and the drinks.

I've been dining at the Azure Restaurant each time l visit Cape Town over many years, always finding this to be one of the most enjoyable experiences during my stay in the Mother City. This time the meal was okay, service fine but certainly not outstanding. Somehow the sparkle had disappeared. The tables were beautifully set, white table clothes, silver cutlery, dark blue chairs and thick carpets. But looking up above l could see the three large glass shades were filthy, glass shades on the counter also

Red Carnation Hotels pride themselves on delicious food, splendid luxury and best attention. Not quite up to these high standards on my last visit.

The hotel is located just outside Camps Bay and I would describe it as a Boutique luxury hotel. We were contacted in advance of our stay to organise transfers, book excursions and restaurants, we were able to specify what types of pillow we wanted and whether we had any special requirements. It was great service and very well organised. When we arrived at the hotel we were given a very warm welcome, a welcome drink and a tour of the hotel. We were able to check in to our room early and our bags were already in our room when we got there. We had a Milkwood room overlooking the pool which was very comfortable

Other positives
- great wifi right across the hotel
- the concierge is great at getting you a table with a fantastic view at any restaurant and he also organised a driver for us who took us on an amazing tour of the wine district and Boulders Beach (penguin colony)
- Azure restaurant has the most spectacular views of the sunset and ocean - it's very special and the restaurant burst into applause when a young gentlemen proposed to his girlfriend while we were there
- Leopard Bar also has amazing views and the best cocktails
- the pool is compact but we always managed to get a sun lounger (with very comfortable cushions)
- service everywhere was amazing, the staff knew what you wanted before you did

I can't think of any negatives.

We had initially been concerned that the hotel was a little out of the way so we decided to stay in 2 hotels during our visit to Cape Town (the other being at the V&A Waterfront). We needn't have worried as the hotel shuttle goes every hour to Camps Bay and to the V&A waterfront and picks up until quite late. We had the most fantastic, friendly shuttle driver called Lulu and he made sure we always got back to the hotel no matter where we were going. The hotel even dropped us off at our next hotel. The shuttle is free of charge and is a great perk of staying at the hotel. As well as Azure restaurant in the hotel you could try Bilboa in Camps Bay and Karibu at the V&A Waterfront. The Veranda at the Mount Nelson was also very good.

If you are going to Cape Town then I would highly recommend staying here - we will definitely be back
