Cool beyond question is POD Camps Bay. A true Africa original realised in a stunning set of decor elements, POD is both raw yet polished. See naked Africa design timber dropping into stone, shifting into glass, imbuing a sense of seaside sophistication so often attempted but so rarely achieved. 17 modern suites and rooms share the spoils of idyllic mountain and ocean views. Primely located a mere 50 meters from the silky sands of the famous Camps Bay beachfront with its trendy restaurants and bars. POD Camps Bay offers a luxurious 5 star boutique hotel experience. It is little wonder that POD appears on the Condé Nast Hot List 2011, and finds its place among Tatler's 101 Best Hotels in the World.

A wonderful Valentine's day, everything from when we checked in until we left the hotel was top notch. The suite we had was absolutely wonderful and we could stay there forever. We were severed by a wonderful cheese / ham platter on our balcony while admiring the magical sunset. We will definitely be back soon ..

Hotel's Favourite
It was truly one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had and the staff are exceptional. I have been in the hospitality industry for 15 years and I know what it takes to provide the level of service your whole team gave and furthermore, under the restrictions of COVID. From the front desk team to the ladies who served us breakfast, we could not have felt more welcomed or “at home”. We can not wait to come back next year and we will certainly be telling all our friends about POD! The rooms were beautiful and spacious and the views are breath taking. The pool is beyond perfect and the gym was an added bonus too! If I’m CT you must stay here!

I have been a very frequent business and leisure traveller throughout Africa and Worldwide and occasionally you find a real gem. The people at POD are without exception warm, and so very professional in a relaxed way. Add location and food to the mix and you have a really great hotel.

My partner and I checked in at the POD on Wednesday the 17th of Feb 2021. This made part of my birthday weekend celebrations. I celebrated my birthday on Thursday the 18th and the staff at the POD acknowledged and wished me well and were also generous to present me with a bottle of bubbly which was truly lovely. Our checkout date was Friday the 19th...I woke up not feeling particularly well, my partner communicated to the manager that we would need a delayed checkout and if it could be delayed by just an hour as I was struggling a bit. There was consensus to the request. It was not long when my partner went to reception to settle the bill and I was finishing getting ready when 3 strange men budged into our room. I was not only startled but also terrified. They insisted they were sent by management to get us remove us from the room in order to prepare for the next guests. I was half dressed, they grabbed my personal belongings and invaded my personal space and refused to award me space to just finish of dressing up. The extent of violation is unimaginable, I was in tears and of short breath when pleading with them to please leave the room and give me a minute to finish of...and they blatantly refused. I felt unsafe, violated and harassed. In a country where we're battling with GBV, I found myself to be another woman victim. It's extremely disappointing that such an incident would happen in a 5* establishment such as the POD and management would allow this to happen and not take responsibility. It is also alarmingly disappointing that they would be oblivious to the extent of emotional trauma this has caused me. It is unfortunate that what could have been a lovely, memorable stay will only now be remembered as a traumatic experience.

Dear patrickN3001RZ, Whilst we appreciate your positive feedback on the complimentary birthday offering, we are saddened to receive a review of this nature. I would like to point out that our standard checkout time is at 11h00 and we always offer a complimentary late checkout to our guests in the room, if it is possible. As this room category was fully booked on the date of your departure, we needed to get this room prepared for the next guest by our standard check-in time of 14h00. I have investigated this further, as well as reviewed our camera footage and noticed that you only departed your room at 13h35. This only gave my team a mere 25 minutes to make sure that this room was ready for our next guest. The following guest then checked in shortly after 14h00 and the room was not ready for their arrival. We then had to compensate them on PODs account with a bottle of champagne to apologize for the inconvenience. Please also note that we did not charge you for this late checkout as most hotels would have. My managers on duty had also offered you another room to enjoy a late checkout in which I believe was declined by your partner. My team also received his consent to start cleaning the room and take care of your luggage at 13h30, to which he agreed. As a result of your late departure, we in turn needed to send as many staff members into your room to ensure that this was swiftly cleaned to our five-star standards, prior to 14h00. I feel that my managers did all they could to accommodate your late departure request as best as possible and I ask that you kindly contact me directly via manager@pod.co.za in order to resolve this accordingly as we take allegations such as this extremely seriously. Best Regards, Micaela Pritchard General Manager

When we started looking for a hotel in Capetown, POD Camps Bay Boutique Hotel immediately caught my eye. Along with being fans of modern boutique hotels, we were drawn to this hotel, when we read the online ratings. It was voted Top Luxury hotel in South Africa in 2019 and the Travellers’ Choice Winner on Tripadvisor in 2020. With sweeping panoramic views of the amazing sunset from the bar and its stunning infinity pool, coupled with easy access to the city centre (just off the main street in Camps Bay), this stylish boutique hotel is perfect and staying there will always be one of my most memorable experiences… We arrived at the hotel late in the evening. As soon as we walked into this stylish hotel, we were able to watch the sun as it sank over the ocean from the bar and pool terrace. We noticed, others taking a leisurely stroll along the seashore, simply enjoying the moment. My initial thought was: can this be real or am I dreaming? The answer is definitely YES! It’s a stylish hotel in a beautiful location and more reasonably priced than you might expect! Our guest room was located on the ground floor. It was wonderfully spacious and individually styled, incorporating plenty of natural wood as a design feature – including tree stumps as bedside tables! There was a sumptuous king size bed and comfortable sitting area – which would prove perfect for resting our poor tired feet after a day out exploring! Honestly, I can not praise the incredibly attentive, and personable staff in POD Camps Bay enough. They always made us feel that nothing we requested was too much trouble. Every time we walked past the reception desk, one of the receptionists was there offering us drinking water (or, in my case, litres of coffee) and asking how our day was going. They would offer assistance with choosing restaurants or shops and had great tips for how best to get around Cape Town and anything else we needed. When we were in South Africa, we passed some of the other hotels in the area that we had considered and were so happy that we chose POD because it is all you imagine – and more!
