This review comes a while after our stay, but I wanted to say that staying at Atholl House was a truly exceptional, exquisite and marvellously unique experience.I celebrated my 40th birthday here back in September 2014 and brought along 5 friends with me.From the outset, the booking process, any questions, requests etc were met with enthusiasm in trying to organise a stay that would be truly memorable.Full credit for this goes to Dawn!!!!Without Dawn I feel that we would have missed out on many things. She recommended places to eat, visit,do,all the things that as a tourist we would unlikely have done and places that we would never have heard of.Nothing was too much trouble for her and her knowledge of everything was outstanding, making all the necessary arrangements, calls etc to ensure that we got the most out of our stay there.Having stayed at Atholl House 2 years previous to my birthday,I knew that this was the perfect location for me to celebrate it and bring friends, whom have never been to Cape Town before. This made for a brilliant experience for us all.Atholl House is an amazing, beautiful, friendly place to stay and with lovely staff headed up by the fantastic Dawn.I would thoroughly, and know my friends would also, recommend a stay here. From the balcony and bedroom windows the views are simply out of this world stunning, and watching the sunset every evening with a glass of fizz,a simply great way to end the day.
I took the liberty whilst being there of booking my room a year in advance for this year as I love it so much,it's like a home from home, headed up by the marvellous Dawn.
Thank you for all that you did for me and my friends whilst there, and look forward to seeing you all later this year.I feel it's a cliche to say but that we truly did meet as strangers and leave as friends.
Fond regards,

Dawn and her team were so friendly and welcoming, we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. They were always available and more than willing to help us make reservations and give us advice on where to go/what to see. It was a level of service I wasn't used to since I normally stay in hotels. They were beyond helpful and accommodating.

The B&B itself is very chic and modern and had a great location in the middle of beautiful Camps Bay. Our room (and the entire property) was spotless and very well-kept. The area was safe, but the house is also very secure.

The breakfast spread every morning was great (yogurt, granola, pastries, meats, cheeses, breads, juice, coffee, etc.) and they would also cook eggs and bacon upon request. We never left the place hungry in the morning, that's for sure!

My only complaint was that when I opened a bottle of water from the mini fridge and would leave it (almost full) out or in the fridge so I could finish it later, housekeeping threw it away. So if you're one to do the same thing, either take it with you or leave a note saying to leave it.

We spent four nights here and it was great. The breakfasts were delicious (particularly the bacon), Brendan and Dawn were great, and the view was fantastic.

If I ever find myself in Capetown again I would definitely stay here again.

Cheers!

I have now stayed at Atholl House for two consecutive years now and can say, without reservation, that this is the most welcoming, accommodating place I have ever experienced in my years of travel. The rooms are tasteful, spacious, individual in decor and offer fabulous views across the Atlantic Ocean and The Twelve Apostles. Brendan is the perfect host, meeting your every need with the minimum of fuss. Personal laundry, bookings for restaurants and tours are done as soon as you request them. There is a beautiful pool, large communal deck off the dining/lounge area, as well as individual outdoor decks from the various rooms. I cannot fault this accommodation. The breakfasts are superb!

We saved the best till last. Thank you Brendan and Staff at the wonderful Atholl House for making our last three days in Camps Bay, Cape Town so enjoyable. Brendan is just something else, so helpful, polite and cannot do enough for you. The decor, ambience, style and the fabulous breakfasts make this place a must, and is set in ideal location in Camps Bay, should you not want to walk, take a Taxi ride, especially by Isaac, what a character. We shall be back when next in The Cape.

To finish up our 3 week stay in SA we stayed for 4 days in Atholl House (Ruby Room). During our 3 weeks we stayed in many wonderful guest houses however Atholl House is very special. Brendan and the Atholl House team are so attentive and make your stay with them something to remember. The walk down to the beach takes 15 mins and there are abundant taxis for the return journey at little cost. Eating in Camps Bay is also a great experience and Brendan will be more than happy to recommend restraurants. We would recommend that you always book a table as they can be very busy. To sum up WOW WOW WOW.............................. Eleanor and Gordon from Scotland

In reflecting back on our trip, I would probably stay there again, or another B&B in Camps Bay. As others have said, the setting is astoundingly beautiful, the location superb, and breakfasts delicious. Prior to arrival Brendan arranged for airport pick up, connected us with car rental, and hiking guides. The sherry in the rooms is a nice touch.

The negative, and I won't list all the small hiccups that weren't that big a deal, was that the toilet wasn't working in one of the rooms we rented for 2 of the 3 nights. It stopped working on the first night, and Katja led us to a bathroom on a different floor than the room to use. The next day (Sunday), when we returned from the day, we were greeted with a note taped to the toilet saying "sorry, do not use, plumber will come tomorrow". I was very upset that the entire day had gone by and a plumber had not come. Surely, in a country with a developed infrastructure such as SA, plumbers are available on Sundays -- perhaps at an increased rate; but if you have guests staying at a B&B paying for an en suite room, it seems to be an emergency! As the owners weren't around, I sent an email, expressing my distress at this situation, and the reply I received was, and I quote,
"your [family member] must have pressed the button [on the toilet] too hard and there is nothing I could do. The Plumber is informed an will come tomorrow.. I did show your [family member] the guest bathroom .. and I trusted this is fine.."

so not only was the bathroom still not working on the second night we were there, but the owner actually blamed my family member for this!!!! I really find this unacceptable. After my email complaint, we were shown an alternative bathroom for my family to use on the same floor as their room; but this was still inconvenient, particularly in the morning, as it required walking across the public dining room in one's robe to use the toilet. We received no compensation or acknowledgement that this was a big problem for having paid for an en suite room where the toilet wasn't working for 2 of the 3 nights of the stay.
