Run by a lovely couple who are so informative of Cape Town.
Not large so need to book. They have barbecue (braai) area's.
The pool area is welcoming on a hot day.
Upon arriving Joyce and Peter were the epitome of hospitality, kindly inquiring after my husband's condition, providing refreshments and cookies for my children and helping me settling in seamlessly. The cottage was an oasis of relaxation, with a fountain, meandering garden walkways and outdoor seating arranged throughout the grounds.
The cottage we were assigned was spacious and lovely, and Joyce even brought over a stack of children's books for my bookworm daughter, which was won her over immediately. That is Joyce and Peter to a "T," extremely thoughtful and gracious, immediately making their guests feel welcome and tending to their needs without drawing attention to themselves.
As my husband's condition was up in the air we never knew one day to the next whether he would be discharged from the hospital and we could leave. Peter and Joyce were clear from the start that our room would be held for us should we ever need it, which was greatly assuring, as it would sometimes be late in the afternoon before we received a prognosis. After hearing about the cottage, my husband decided to discharge himself early and continue his recovery at the cottage. Joyce and Peter met us when we arrived, Peter offering a more direct route from the driveway to the cottage to accommodate my husband's crutches, and Joyce already having installed extra pillows in our room to prop up his leg and plastic tubs in the bathroom to facilitate showers. My husband was delighted with the peaceful atmosphere at the cottage and brought to tears at the hospitality and sincere kindness he received. He enjoyed lengthy discussions of adventure and science with Peter while reclining by the fountain, and enjoyed equally stimulating discourse with Joyce surrounding current affairs. We ended up staying 5 nights. My husband attributes his quick recovery to "breaking out of the hospital and recovering at the cottage." After his first night, we were in a situation where we needed to retrieve my husband's belongings and rental car from the area of the accident 3 hours away. Peter anticipated our needs beforehand and offered to procure a driver to bring our second rental car back, which was going above and beyond. When we returned with the rental cars and prepared for our trip back to America, Joyce tapped at the cottage door and presented us with a souvenir of African placemats to take back home, which she didn't know was an answer to prayer because due to the accident we had not been able to go shopping for souvenirs during our stay. Her gift was beyond kind - where else would you ever pay for a stay and receive a gift upon parting?!? The care and sincerity of these kind people are a rare find in the world today; Joyce and Peter are the embodiment of hospitality and we will continue to recommend their cottage B&B to anyone and everyone we come across. We are already making plans to return and complete our vacation that was interrupted due to the accident, and you can be sure we are booking our stay with Cape Country Cottage!
Not long after arriving, Joyce prepared a tasty sandwich lunch which was very welcome and thoughtful after my long journey. My room was lovely, it overlooked the pool area, and there was a fantastic patio right outside, where I enjoyed my endless cups of tea in the tranquil surroundings.
Joyce and Peter did everything they possibly could to make my stay as comfortable as possible, and were a very engaging couple, nothing was too much trouble. Joyce even went to the trouble of cutting out some newspapers articles for me to take home.
I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again, and would recommned Cape Country Cottages to anyone who is thinking of visiting the area.
