This was one of my best travel stops. The location of the lodge is perfect, on the way in from the gate we saw some game. We were met at the the parking lot and shown to our rooms & everthing explained, then we were took on a walk through the lodge to show us were everything was located. The view from the "Stoep' was wonderful as the Karoo was getting some rain at that stage. The room & bathroom was very nicely decorated and comfortable. Dinner the evening was like being transported back to Colonial times with white tablecloths & silver on the table in-front of a fire place. Dinner was like a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and tasted delicious. The service from the staff was great. We also enjoyed the company of the 3x resident cats. We had a great nights sleep with rain on the tin roof. Breakfast was also served in the dining room and was again delicious. We will be back for a visit soon. …
Excellent venue and location- stunning views and sunsets. Rooms are fully equip for 4 star, bathrooms beautiful and functional. Friendly and very helpful staff contribute to an relaxing and well rest 5 days. Dinners was excellent.
Perfect stay, perfect Karoo food and perfect wine. Was able to watch the grand prix in the bar with the friendliest cats to keep us company and a warm fireplace going. Thank you for a great experience, will be back to do the walk!
This review is relatively objective being written after my 14th road trip - this time staying at 14 properties during a 34 night trip. My 4th visit. Easily found via an easy gravel road from the N1. Plenty of parking. Experienced, friendly and efficient staff - one of whom has been at the property for 10 years I believe - that in itself speaks volumes. Decent sized, clean, well equipped and comfortable room. Good bathroom. Pleasant grounds are really well maintained - one of these years I must try the walking trail clearly marked out. The bar/lounge/dining room area was very welcoming, especially on a cool evening with a log fire. Outside heaters are provided for those hardy souls wishing to eat their dinner on the atmospheric stoep - the rest of us ate in the welcoming dining room. The buffet dinner was well up to standard, with a choice of two mains. We didn’t stay for breakfast. The owners have taken the opportunity to refresh the property during the Covid hiatus - and it shows - sympathetically carried out without losing any of the character and charm of this updated but old school property. We’ll be back next time in the area. Highly recommended…
Stayed two nights this week. The rooms are superb. Best shower I have had in a very long time. Extremely comfortable bed with top standard bedding. Braai facilities are excellent. Breakfast great quality. Three course dinner of soup, lamb and cheesecake was excellent. Irene and Justice deliver first class service. Would have been nice to have a heated pool !
